I like Burton. Him being the first person to come back along with Lillian really helps bring enough strategic moments good and bad that elevated this season to being the classic everyone enjoys.
Burton's second blindside is one of the crowning achievements of Queen Sandra's Survivor career. It's amazing how well the Outcast twist worked out. Burton and Lil were the perfect people to come back into the game and cause chaos.
Burton is a very unique player. If the outcasts twist never happened. He would have been mock relentlessly by Survivor community based on his plan to thrown challenge very early on the game. The only way to this plan to work out is set up just before the merge started when you have the bigger numbers of the tribe and getting rid of the bigger treat in the game & Burton didn’t think about it all the way through and on the top of that, he fails to read the room while he’s talking about the plan with Rupert. The same guy you just mocked early on that day about his skirt with a hole in it. It just blew up on to his face. But he comes back to the game, he’s seem to fix some of his missteps earlier on the season and almost could have won if a few moves came to his way and think ahead of certain decisions. I’m surprised he wasn’t asked by in a future returnee season like Second Chances. I think he could refine his skills sets if he would have asked back. He’s an underrated player in a season of great characters in Pearl Islands.
@@coffeetop7868 Exactly. Production pushed Rupert like they pushed Nevens. Both terrible , self righteous players. Luckily Underwood comes back and does what Burton couldn’t do… humiliating Production’s favorite and winning the season like a boss.

Finally, been waiting for this vid for months. He and Jonny FairPlay were such a great and fun duo for me, Burton was a decent social player and great physical player where FairPlay was a great strategist, so while Burton was able to save himself and ensure targets didn’t get immunity, FairPlay can pull the numbers. Just seeing them dominating the merge was great. I especially love the editing of the immunity challenge with blow darts with the intense music and Burton crushing Rupert out do the challenge and outta the game
Man, I loved this season. Because there were so many good and unique characters, people like Burton and Lillian get so overlooked. Thank you for this video!
Burton had such a clear path to victory with his final two deal with Lil that it's nuts. Final four with Fairplay, Lil and Dara. Votes out Dara for final three with Fairplay and Lil. Votes out Fairplay and goes to the end with Lil, easy victory. Heck, he could take Fairplay to final two and still win. That final three would've made him the winner of Pearl Islands but he was to oblivious to see it.
I don’t think he wins against Fairplay. If he takes Fairplay to the end, then we have to assume Lil would feel betrayed that her f2 deal was broken, so that’s an easy vote for Jon. Burton is also an outcast, and I don’t think that jury would’ve ever awarded an outcast the win. I think Jon wins this FTC very easily.
PI is such a good season and it definitely stands out pre all stars Burton is definitely a unique player and glad he retooled his flaws after he came back bc he rlly had a chance to win
Burton played a lot better after returning. I think he would’ve won if he kept Lill on his side and voted out Sandra at 5. They still vote out Darrah at 4, then Burton likely beats either Fairplay or Lill if he makes final tribal.
Rewatching PI and you quickly realize how the post merge revolves around Lil and Burton (moreover Lil in how she’s almost like this Sugar-esque chaotic player who’s swing vote controls a majority of tribal councils)
13:14 I thought it was the outcasts will vote in one person for each tribe they beat. So if they finish first, two returnees. If they finish second, one. If they finish third, zero.
Dude shouldn’t have tried to target the challenges beast before the immunity challenge, you already had the votes and the scheming only made Lill think something was up
I liked the outcasts twist wish they didn't feed them so it was more fair but still it was 2 people returning not the entire tribe so, guess what get over it. What brothered me more was that the girls didn't turn on them earlier when Christa and Tiwana were still in the game. Although Sandra and Lil got the best outcome of that. They really played well strategically. They let the steonger girls go, then Burton, than Darrah bc she was the strongest person there and the one to rack up that immunity streak. And then nobody was voting for John, so Sandra had it in the bag.

this style of survivor was way better now they have changed it to be more pc.
Amazing season. Just did a full rewatch on Netflix. Burton would have been a great player to bring back.
Gotta say, it was a missed opportunity to go to the resolution after the first time Burton was voted out.

trusting lil didn’t really work out for anyone. Lil acted like a helpless lamb but she eventually got rid of all of her allies and tribe members.
