    He is absolutely right! I did exactly this 20 yrs ago when I was 32 and a single mother of 3 small children. I was able to save enough for a down payment on my first house, then paid it off in 20 yrs on a 30 yrs loan. All it takes is self control, strategic spending, investing in your health and a positive attitude.

    You totally nailed it, Markus. No matter what socioeconomic level you live your life at you can apply this wisdom. I have no vices and take care of my health living waaay under the federal poverty line. I get my clothing from free donated piles. I take care of my things like I take care of my body. I’m 64 this month and here in Section 8 housing there are people who make jealous comments, snide remarks, implications about how I dress so well or look so good, and I tell them they can do it, too! Be healthy! That’s the last message they want to hear. It’s not your Ferrari that is the issue, Markus. It’s their own bad health that makes them so unhappy. I know you know this. I’m just sharing that it’s the same down here below the poverty line. Jealousy over my hand me down clothes! It’s how I stake care of myself that makes the difference, and I have lots of room for improvement! Love your videos! Love to be inspired, and yes, validated 💜

    "Yeah yeah, for sure, then show me your Ferrari"

    Ok - What About This.. Spring 2010 I Buy a Volvo. for $1200. I drive it for close to 11. years and put a total 1700. into it in maintenance. I have been offered 3000. - I refused . Then I was offered. $4000. If I sell it for $4000. it was a free car for 11 years plus $1100. net profit. I live in a nice part of a small city and don't commute long distance to work. I will use the money to buy a nice used Volvo XC90 for about $5000. This is better because. the $50,000. is not tied up in a car and can invest in Alt Cryptocurrencies that explode in value.

    What most of you don't realise is the fact that "tomorrow" is not a given. You give good advice and I get it! But life isn't like that for anyone!
    You might be a responsible and abstained person but that in it self does not guarantee that an AVC or an heart attack won't get you! Or maybe a car or a bus! Heck, people died falling on the stairs!
    Live your life form time to time and keep away from excess! Don't buy crap you can't afford with loaned money!
    Always better yourself and offer more value to society and good things will come to you!

I'm just saying though, you you only know it from what you have seen on the outside. I'm all about trying everything in life. And then deciding whether I like it or not. One drink is not going to affect your health. Drink something holistic like wine.

    To cigarettes and alcohol, you should also add medical expenses to deal with the health issues caused by these two habits alone. Not even mentioning food choices...
    That makes at least 5 or 6 Lamborghinis 😅

    I agree with most of what you said Markus. But you must see that most working class people do not have $50k sitting around that will enable them to make the jump into an appreciating car. Transport expenses can take decades to work your way out of particularly if you are raising a family. I’m 50 now and have owned my car for years but that took me a very long time to achieve.

      Haha. Coffee is actually quite unhealthy. The studies claiming it has health benefits are mainly backed by the coffee industry. Yes coffee is antioxidant, but it is the same antioxidant polyphenols that bind medications, herbs and phytonutrients rendering them useless to the body. Coffee is also high in the tissue irritant and nutrient binder oxalic acid. Coffee raises cholesterol and blood sugar. Caffeine in coffee crashes the adrenal glands leading to all sorts of health issues including allergies, asthma, autoimmune disorders, thyroid issues, blood pressure and blood pressure issues, low energy, hormone imbalances, autoimmunity, water retention and more. Caffeine can also increase the risk of anxiety and insomnia. Caffeine has an adverse effect on bone health and can increase breast cysts in women. The caffeine in coffee enemas is still caffeine and will still crash the adrenals regardless of how it gets in to the body. Tannins in the coffee are likely to kill probiotic gut flora, which will actually increase the absorption of toxins from the colon since one of the roles of the flora is to break down various toxins, such as hormone metabolites, for excretion. On the other hand, tannins will also bind to many medications and herbs preventing their absorption. The Gerson clinic uses green coffee for their enemas, not roasted. The roasting process produces carcinogenic polyaromatic hydrocarbons and acrylamide. Not that green coffee is not harmful to the body, but it is less dangerous than roasted coffee. Then there are the other health issues such as the carcinogenic polyaromatic hydrocarbons and acrylamide formed from the roasting process. Coffee also increases the risk of acid reflux by relaxing the lower esophageal sphincter. Chronic acid reflux also increases the risk of cancer. The diuretic effect of coffee can also increase the risk of gout. Tea is a much better option :-)

    • @MarkusRothkranz
      @MarkusRothkranz  5 років тому +1

      There are still hidden financing charges built in to the price plus all kinds of taxes. They usually just repackage it to make it look appealing- like Amazon "free shipping" lol- Amazon sellers get less because they help pay for shipping. Nothing is free. You just have to dig deeper.

    You have made a topic difficult for many to understand very clear and concise. You touched on the top 4 subjects I've been preaching to my kids. No drugs, no alcohol, no cigarettes and no debt (and as a parent I model it). I don't have cars but other things I valued to save for. I think your example of the cars is a far better object lesson than mine because they are more closely related to the things my kids want in life. We live in an instant gratification world. To realize without even saving extra, just avoiding a vice habit could pay the cash for a hot car is mind blowing, especially to a youngster. I hope more young people see this.

    When my daughter left home to go to uni, I explained to her three things: 1.Never spend more than you earn, remember 80/20. never spending more than 80% of whatever you earn and put the 20% to work and forget about it. 2.There are two kinds of assets, those that appreciate and those that only loose value (you nailed it). 3.Be active, your body is also an investment. Markus I can only confirm you are 1000% right!!

    I only buy used cars, and have only had new company cars. My first sports car was a Porsche Carrera 4 (964) that I purchased for cash in Switzerland back in 2001..I think I paid about CHF 34,000 (US$ 20K; exchange rate was about 1.70 at the time) for the car, with about 110,000 KM (about 70K miles). I couldn't get a loan in CH because I was paid as an expat by a US company. Couldn't get a car loan in the USA because the car was in CH! In any event, I happily drove that car daily for almost 3 years and sold it for CHF35,000(about USD 25K)...after the exchange rate dropped to 1.38. The difference paid for a new set of tires, basic maintenance (oil/filter/brake changes) and a bit of the insurance over that period. It essentially cost me the gas I spent driving that wonderful car over the 3 years that I had it. That crazy purchase was the only time I actually made money buying and selling a car! Liked that Porsche so much, I bought another (again from a business colleague) Carrera (this time a 993C2-silver), which I regret selling to this day, after having driven that one for the better part of 5 years. Both were reliable performers/daily drivers. The 964 was also excellent in the snow (with winter tires)...even better than our Audi A6 quattro. Today, both cars have doubled in value.
