Finally another version of the Axial SCX6 has arrived: The Trail Honcho! Taking some key features from both the 10th scale Trail Honcho and the recently released Axial Basecamp, this 1/6th scale giant packs an enormous amount of scale details and cool features to grab your attention and peak your curiosity.
Numerous hard plastic details are used on the bodyshell and the interior panel, the rear cage has a new, more aggressive look with an integrated stinger. There is a trunk in which you can pack away some tools or spares, a fully functional spare tire is included on the back and 20 LED lights illuminate the darker days and nights. Below all these new visual novelties you find the same trusted SCX6 chassis, with an all new Demello Offroad front bumper, some new bar styled rock sliders and updated internal wheel arches to keep things clean.
How does it compare to the Jeep, and what does it take to convert the Jeep?
The all new Axial SCX6 is a 1/6th scale trail truck that packs a ton of features which you might know from its smaller brothers and sisters. This brand new developed vehicle has licensed items and some familiar looking design elements, such as the Trail Honcho bodyshell, the Black Rhino rims and the Falken Wildpeak 2.9 tires. Electronics are as you expect them all Spektrum branded, and thankfully the 2-speed transmission also made its way into this recent version.

For the price of two 1/10 scalers, I can get an scx6, the 6 gets my money. Thank you for high quality content!
when is red cat n traxxas gonna make a 6th scale crawler
Traxxas just came out with a new 1/18 platform so they might play around with that for a bit. But the next logical step for traxxas would be is to make a 6th scale
Redcat already had a large scale crawler. The 1/5 scale Redcat Clawback.
Check out Adventure Time RC. They compared the Clawback to the SCX6 4 months ago.
Would be cool to see some worthy competition, as it is healthy to push the industry further ahead!
I was hoping Rlaarlo 1/7 would be bigger and compete with the scx6... It doesn't.
I would really love to see axial offer a two door swb option one day. You did a great job on that one.
Cheers Tom! Incredibly good to run too!
Very nice! Great comparison between the two. Definitely interested in a 6th scale now. Thanks ! 😂
Thanks for watching!
A Jeep Scrambler with the back honcho cage would be pretty wild. Really digging these videos, thanks for posting 💥💯🤙
You are most welcome, Tim! Happy to read you like what I do!
Great video Chris! Excellent information and very informative for us prospective buyers!! THX
Glad it was helpful!
I’ll have to watch the rest of your SCX6 videos now! 👍✌️
Let me know what you think, thanks!
I have planned to convert my jeep to a honcho. thanks for highlighting this.
Now, just have to wait for the parts to be available in Norway.
Have fun!
can't wait to see how your honcho turns out as you do great work thanks for the videos still missing the pole dancer in the intro 😅
She’s probably in her late 50’s by now!
@@hemistormrc I'm 42 so she ain't that much older thanks for the reply 😂😂
I’m stoked to see what you come up with regarding the “blend” discussed around the 8 minute mark! I think it would be awesome. 👍✌️
Great video man.
I agree that this scx6 line up is very cool, and full of opportunity.
I havnt got one yet.
But maybe someday.
Great work.
😎👍👍
Thanks Jesse, I appreciate your continued support!
Excellent video! I have the Jeep scx6 already on the methods. The new honcho gives me all kinds of ideas. Totally dig the 2 door Jeep shortened version. An idea of a giant scale rock bouncer or KOH Bomber or other KOH style, came to mind too…
I was worried when I got the scx6 that I’d have an orphan or something like my not so hot yeti xl. I’ve been pretty happy with it, of course do need a new servo but that seems like a pretty normal need in the rtr world I guess?
Mine have been solid! Just put the Methods on the Honcho and it pops way more now, also added some foams. It is a truck that gets me inspired for sure!
I was just talking to my friend how cool it would be 1/6 Capra 🔥🥳🥳 I hope they do make it 💯💯💯
Awesome video wicked job always cool seeing what you do with your talent. Take care sir there out of my price range but cool seeing what you create with a cool platform
Thanks! Will do!
Can’t wait to see what you do with paint on the Honcho!!!
Will keep it simple but personalized!
@@hemistormrc your simple is my ‘oh dear, I’m in way over my head’. Ha ha!!!
Thank you for the really cool videos. I wish we had areas like you to crawl. Chicago not so good
You’re welcome, I liked Chicago, amazing city!
@@hemistormrc dragon makes figures from all over the world all wars. Like high performance gi joes from the 60s hasbro. The orginal ones from 2001 were low cost and less detail. The new ones are very realistic and cost more. If you have a hard time getting one, i have some for sale.
An SCX6 Ryft would blow my mind 🤯
Imagine the carnage you can cause with that! With 3.8” Black Mambas. 🤯
@@hemistormrc yeah bro 🤘😎
The Honcho looks incredible!
The Jeep really didn’t do anything for me.
Just might have to pick one up.
It is a much needed and very highly anticipated option I think!
I hope Proline comes up with the Apache cab truck for the honcho. Thanks for sharing Chris.
I hope so too! That would be dope!
hahaha it'll be the Axial Wran-cho. Can't wait to see what you do next with the SCX-6 platform and the new Honcho.
Plenty of ideas brewing, that’s for sure. 😃
That Honcho is amazing Chris!
I agree, I really like what they did!
@@hemistormrc Yes, even the color suits it perfectly!
Waiting for Proline or someone to come out with some body options for it, maybe some pickups with full drop beds. Then I'll get one.
I am convinced they have some in the works. ;)
these 2 are cool. I choose both 😍😍😍
That’s too cool Chris !!!
Cheers Mikey, I hope you are well!
@@hemistormrc doin ok ! Can always be better !!! Thanks Chris hope all is well with you …..as well
really enjoyed
SCX^ over everything else, Love it
BOMBER!! Yeah!!
Glad you said Wraith. I’m wanting so badly to see the Wraith make a come back in the 6th scale.
I want another Wraith, it's a true classic!
Honcho is so much better looking than the Jeep! Eagre to see what you do with it buddy!
It offers so many possibilities!
Great video. I wish I had come across it sooner because I literally broke down each schematic from the jeep to the honcho to see what was different on the part numbers. I’m currently in the process of converting a used jeep to the honcho just waiting for the parts from Horizon. Even though you were very detailed on your video, you did overlook two parts. The spring part numbers themselves are different from the Jeep to the Honcho and I don’t remember off the top of my head what the part numbers themselves are I’m sure it has to do with the stiffness of the spring. You cannot get one of the springs anywhere else except Horizon. Just thought I’d let you know. As always great videos.
1:1.61 is almost exactly the golden ratio (1:1.618). It is also exactly the ratio of miles to kilometers (1:1.609). 1/10 is a very metric or decimal scale. 1/6 is incredibly imperial (being based loosely on 12 instead of 10 is one of the big advantages of the older system, you can have 1/2, 1/3, 1/4 and 1/6 of something without having weirdly long, or for that fact any remainders).
I was just gonna post the same thing…
Indeed! I'm a carpenter and also obsess over ratios and measurement logics!
👍🏽 Have a good day bro
cool rc's and info
Glad you enjoyed!
What a GREAT video. Thanks for doing the in depth comparison. What part of the country are you filming? Thanks again
it would be awsome to see a truggy jeep or even a overland honcho like use th egladiator style bed set up with an extended wheel base on a honcho cab
I like your thinking, haha!
Another channel stated that the Honcho body is modeled after the Scx10iii Base Camp body.
Spot on! Thank you for stopping by!
Axial should sell a conversion kit that includes all 7…..
I hope they will come up with some sort of package deal, would be easier on shipping too!
GREAT VID!!!!!! Has there been any updates on a possible 3rd option of the scx 6 platform
instead of a drive figure I would install a DJI O3 FPV video tx of course!
The SCX6 is big and powerful💪Friends🎶👍🤝
if they drop a capra im buying it on the spot
I heard you mention a no-go on mounting CRC Jeep sliders on the Honcho, but I didn’t catch whether the Honcho sliders will fit well on the Jeep. Please let me know what you think, thank you.
Would be awesome if he able build body from Honcho to Unimog
I always expect to see 6 wheels when I hear scx6. A 6x6 scx6 would be awesome.
You might be on to something there. 😁
@@hemistormrc i mentioned the 6wheel version in ur first video of the shortened Jeep-6
I don't know if he read it, but I mentioned the same thing of a 6x6 version of the 6 in the first build video of the shortened Jeep SCX-6 So I'm with u on that 👍
How about a scx 6 6 x 6 devil edition? All blacked out, red accents, lookin mean…
Someone was listening. Treal offers a 6x6 conversion now. Exocaged built a 6x6x6 honcho with it. It's not cheap but nothing with these beast is.
Dude a 6th scale Capra would make me broke. I will literally sell my car to get a few 6th scale Capras 🤤
Wonder how that rear cage would look on a Jeep 4 door front cab, Gladiator length
Dont have to think about it ,Honcho!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Seems like a very popular choice!
@@hemistormrc i am more for cage things, like the Wraith, bomber, deadbolt,Honcho etc...,and ofcourse your painting job is as always a pleasure to see
its insane, but: does anybody locking diffs to it ?
Not yet but that would be a cool option. :)
Whatever happened to the 1/5 scale crawler with the pickup body? Redcat Clawback
It was riddled with issues, most of it because the internals were under-dimensioned for the overall size and weight of the truck.
I wasn't excited by the Jeep as much as impressed with its scale, But the SCX6 Honcho is the Truck that would have brought me back to Axial fully aware of the Journey I was about to take, If only I had the $$. Maybe Next Year, What an SXC6 Deadbolt in 2023 ? choices choices, this could get serious 🤣😂🤣😂😱
Or an SCX6 Wraith for 2023? Exciting times for sure for us who like larger trucks!
Hemi Storm really like your videos. Just a quick question if you have time. I got a chance to buy a Savage Octane. Do you still like yours? Thanks
They need to put the new Bronco body on this scx6 chassis then I’d be more interested.
The cage just opened so many possibilities for the aftermarket to capitalize on!
The correct answer, is yes.
And also, oui!
If you need good 12" drivers , dragon makes scale figures.
Will check those out!
HemiStorm rc so if i was to 3d print a whole body that's 1/10 would i increase the scale of the whole body to the 160.5 percent would that make it a 1/6 body?
Great vid 👍
PS Are you from Norway? Your accent sounds Netherlandish, but I saw a Norwegian sign, in one of your vids.
Hello from Denmark
You nailed all of that! I'm Dutch, but have lived in Norway since 2011. :)
Really 😂👍
I like the looks of the "Honcho" better
Seems like most people do, Axial did well.
Bro i live in the Pleasanton ca i got the nightrunner and all parts are 3d printed from my little factory can you help i come buy from you ???
The honcho and basecamp look like cartoon trucks.
With the right size wheels they look a lot like a Tacoma. 👌🏼
@@hemistormrc thank you. I stand corrected. A viewer just educated me . Im just a big usa truck fan. Sorry for incorrect comment.
Well if you’re out of room….. my birthday was yesterday….
Happy belated birthday!
@@hemistormrc thanks man!!
Honcho all day
I think me too, Shawn!
Next should be a 6x6^^
I just might have to build one!
@@hemistormrc Oh yea would be great. I really like your SCX6 Gladiator Build.
Wrangler trail honcho, Wroncho, wrancho ??
Joncho? Heep?
@@hemistormrc 😂
🤘☕️🤘
Make a Heep…or a Joncho… lol
😂👍🏼
Like your short wheelbase jeep. Axial up to their no good tricks, failing to offer painted bodies. New body only available in a new rtr. Another 1100 , no thanks axial. Refuse to fall into the axial trap of buying more trucks just to get a new body.
That’s where this video might come in useful, everything required for a conversion is listed.
Axial has the Wrangler body available: AXI250000. Not painted, but you can paint any color you like this way. If you want the Honcho, that is part AXI250011
@@nielsmeer thank you
The only way I'd get one is if someone like Proline came out with some nice optional bodies for it. Maybe some pickups.
My paint and trim skills are zero. Sure, we have painters here in our area . Yes, a scale usa truck would be nice. Traxxas is offering many scale painted bodies. axial up your game.
TRX6. Or TRX4 XXL. Like TRX4 M…for “Mini”. I have big n fast (Traxxas UDR) and big n slow (SCX6 Honcho). Bigger is WAY better. My 1/10th scale rigs are jealous
I certainly hope more manufacturers will enter this arena, large trucks are where it's at!
