Although by 1930 sound film was on the rise, a lot of films, like this one, were silent. As this film is not a studio production but a travelogue, recording the sounds on the road and editing them into the film would probably be too laborious and expensive to even consider. However, the early 1930s was an interesting era for sound film, as developments were going very fast; within a few years silent films disappeared from the cinemas.
