    For anyone new to inkstitch you can save a ton of time and effort by doing the things listed on the inkstitch /docs/customize webpage. Id highly reccomend setting up keyboard shortcuts (immediately do things which normally take a silly amount of menu navigation), template files (some settings can be made persistent and you can have a preset template for each hoop size) and zoom correction factor (your images at 100% zoom will be the exact same size on screen as real life). Have fun!

    My "Params" doesn't have all those tabs. "Satin Column", with the Zig-Zag stitch options.
    I have InkScape 1.3.2
    With InkStitch 3.0.1
    What am I missing?

    • @LowTechLinux
      @LowTechLinux  10 місяців тому

      The satin stitch options will only show up if it's a satin stitch.
      Try this, use the bezier tool to make a simple line. In fill and stroke make sure there's no fill and has a stroke of about 2mm. Extensions, inkstitch, tools: satin, convert line to satin. Select your new satin stitch column and check params. You should now have the satin options available.

      @@LowTechLinux followed your instructions to the T, and got a pop-up when attempting to "Convert Line to Satin"
      "Inkscape has received additional data from the script executed, the script did not return an error, but this may indicate the results may not be as expected.
      Ink/Stitch doesn't know how to work with any of the objects you've selected. Please check if selected elements are visible.
      Tip: Run Extensions > Ink/Stitch > Troubleshoot > Troubleshoot Objects"
      Not trying to turn you into tech support. But your video looked so straight forward and easy and until I tried to mirror your actions on my screen, then I'm like....."Why can't I do these simple steps??"

      Send your SVG to me at dale@lowtechlinux.com so I can look at what you have. I'll help troubleshoot as much as I can, it's kind of my way of contributing back to the inkstitch project.

    This was a great video!! Thank you so much!
    Does the ricoma now read the trim commands with the dst file? I got the feeling my ricoma trims only when a certain lenghts of a jump stitch is exceeded(?).
    I got those tensions thingies (both) and it's very interesting actually knowing what the tension is and playing with adjustments. Haven't found the sweet spot yet, though - but I'm getting there. Wish you all the best and looking foward to your next video!

    • @LowTechLinux
      @LowTechLinux  2 роки тому

      I'm pretty sure it reads trim, but doesn't read stop. We run ours on A/M for stopping for appliques.

    I keep getting the "satin column: a rung intersects a rail more than twice" error message for the end caps. I created it exactly as the video did. Created the rails in the same orientation using the bezier pen, followed by creating 3 rungs in same format with pencil tool, combined the path, opened params and crash! I'd appreciate any help!

      Figured it out, i was breaking up two of the lines instead of making it one complete path

    Is putting a different color border around puff difficult? Say a 3mm white border around the TN?

    • @LowTechLinux
      @LowTechLinux  2 роки тому +1

      You would do that as a fill, much like a knockdown stitch, then stitch the puff on top of the fill.
      Be careful to not make the fill to dense.

    Hey question does Inkstitch DST files work with some of the older Tajima and Toyota embroidery machines

    • @LowTechLinux
      @LowTechLinux  Рік тому

      It should work. We don't have either of those machines, but our ricoma requires DST and they work great on it.

    Reaching out for some help. Sometimes when creating a design by tracing a bit map, it creates a path (or section of a path) that does not complete the fill. It will stitch out the outline and underlay, but not the the over lying fill. I have messed with the Params a little, and I still can't get it to work. Any ideas on how to remedy this problem would be very helpful.

    • @LowTechLinux
      @LowTechLinux  2 роки тому

      I don't think I've had this happen.
      Try selecting the offending object, then do path > simplify. Now you have fewer nodes to work with see if you can connect the end nodes.
