Dived at some of those sites, as amazing as the video compilation is, being there and seeing it firsthand is truly an experience unlike any other. Gr8 job on the steadiness of the recordings throughout!
Hey Tobias, can you let me know the specific areas of the Similan island that you took the video? I'm going there in a month and would love to go where you went.
Hi, all the dive sites are named in the end of the video, however if i were to recommend one specific area it would be Richelieu Rock. Great choral formations, and good chance to see Whale shark, at least a couple of years ago!
Very nice video! I'm going to phuket for the first time january. I got the open water diver and my limit is 18 meters, do you know any places i got a chance to see whale sharks?
i went there... i'll tell you i had to use fins cuz da fishies can surface at anytime and when they du, they come in groups of more than 20, i need to swim away as fast as possible cuz if i du touch dem fishies the similan national administration will be mad at me (sorry for my languege im thai xD)
This video is amazing and has been in my "Fovourite list" since a couple of years :) The video quality also made me confident in investing in the same vidoe-rig as yours. I now have the go-pro and the snake river mount and at the moment looking into the lights. Are you still happy with them or would you recommend otherones? Guess 700 lumens is good lightning for the shots. Also, how did you mount the lights? Best regards Erik
thanks, I´m quite satisfied with the result myself :) About the light, it depends on the conditions and also from what distance you shoot. 700 lumen with 75 degrees beam angle x 2 works well up to 1m (about 3f) at daylight. further away and the light usually wont reach the target. you might notice in some shots that the light wont fill up the whole picture, and at the sequence with the whale shark the light did not help at all. However, i must still say that I´m satisfied with the lights. i think the most important thing are lights with a wide beam angle, i would recommend 2 lights and the lumen or light strength have to be a question of how much you want to spend on the lights. I mounted the lights with flex arms, exact dimensions i don´t remember, might have bought an adapter for the flex arms as well.
best way to go there is on a liveaboard, you can check them out at www.liveaboard.com/thailand/similan-islands?tag=111965051801&gclid=Cj0KEQjw0rm-BRCn85bm8uS-zK0BEiQAHo4vrOrlsfS6fTCm0xP7IG-XsyPubsySBCKCXDTmoMAnafYaAhi_8P8HAQ
