Since he never sees her or hears from her again, he thinks she left him for good, so he tries to commit suicide but the knife is too dull, and the medics rescue him. He starts overthinking about what could’ve happened to her, but “kills the conversation” bc the more he thinks, the less he wants it to be real. He wants to go back home, home being her. He says “can I ever complicate your breathing? I guess I’m just your average boy.” Meaning, if he was the love of her life, he would do things to her, but she doesn’t feel it with him. He then says “This is me with a knife in the back, and a grip on the grass it’s cold, and I don’t want to be here.” He is probably out on a cold night at the cemetery, looking for her gravestone. “The knife in the back” is him probably being tired from searching but “a grip on the grass” is him dragging himself through the cemetery, although he is tired, he is not going to give up on looking for her. He is starting to enjoy life but he is lying to himself bc she isn’t with him. He says “she could make hell, feel just like home” meaning that no matter where he is, if he is with her, it feels like home to him. He then goes on to say “if your lightning lips aren’t mine, then I don’t know the awkward stranger to my right, but she is crying.” Meaning that if she can’t be him, he doesn’t care about any other girl that approaches him. “I only need one hand to drive, when you’re with me.” Whenever you’re typically driving, you use two hands, to completely focus on the road. The road being his problems and struggles. But if she was with him, he could distract himself, lose focus of the road. Although, it may end in a car crash, he’s willing to risk it all for this girl, no matter the outcome. “And don’t you ever feel alone?
