I'm Shellac intolerant. Will it turn out OK if I substitute with clear nail polish instead? Also, I don't have any wood glue handy. Do you think Elmer's will be fine instead?
+Nicole Burkholder Elmer's will work fine as long as it is standard white school glue and not the gel stuff. I wouldn't recommend using nail polish as the smell is something quite atrocious. Instead I might substitute facial oil in place of shellac.
What are the measurements?!?! Not sure if I need one or two cups of wood?!?! I've tried this in the past but my ratios get off and I end up with either a hope chest size box or a ring box!?!?! Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WOW. I think this is very clever. I would substitute cherry for walnut to make it a little sweeter. Very nice job.
very funny Mr. Harry Potter!
Wow!!!! Thank you for this just in time for Christmas. So easy and great instructions.
+Judy Loza Thanks, I try to keep things simple so that others can learn and maybe make their own.
looks great! will try that tomorrow. thanks for the recipe!
Hmmm if this is cooking a box then I assume that stuff from IKEA must be the junk food??
A glass of red oak would go well with that.

I thought I made it clear but I guess not. You need 1 quart of maple and one quart of walnut to get a standard jewelry box.
My delta planer/oven must be broken. My baked goods never come out looking that good.
My planer is not glass tolerant. Is it possible to use an aluminum cassorole pan?
Love the music!
+Wayne Bosek Sure, just make sure you grease the pan up with Tung Oil first so it doesn't stick.
totally fake. He grabbed the pan without mitts.
My boxes NEVER turn out that good! I can tell that's not real. Pinterest, eat your heart out...
