I teach math at a community college for a living, so lack of inline math is a deal breaker for me as well. Thanks for pointing it out. Now to go learn Capacities.
@@peemkamalanon4750 Hello. Inline math is when you have an equation or formula in the middle of some sentence. It's as opposed to have an equation separated out from the text in the middle of the page.
As a newbie to the PKM space I’ve tried Obsidian and Capacities prior to coming to Anytype. I found the learning curve on those apps way steeper than Anytype. Having now got into Anytype it’s definitely the one I’m sticking with.
One thing you didn't mention is that at the moment at least you can use Anytype on mobile. You can't use Capacities on mobile at the moment unless you pay for beta. I need those apps to work well on the phone first, and be very easily accessible and usable in the small screen of a phone. I also found Anytype difficult to learn but I liked many things and I think the personalization thing is one othe things that make apps more pleasant to use. I feel like many apps are very insipid in that sense. Also, the security thing seems better than others. I still might give it another try or maybe use it for some things. Good video! 🙌
I'd tell whoever you know that can benefit from the inline math feature to keep bringing it up in the feature request section. It might not make the devs release it right away but they can put it in the pipeline. It's technically still in beta, so anything can happen. Anytype is a winner for me because of local first, encryption and self-hosting option that it will have. If the app didn't exist, I'd probably use Obsidian but I'd never go back to Notion. Really overrated imo.
Wow, thank you so much for this video about Anytype! The video was very informative and reinforced my decision to use Capacatied instead of Anytype, you explained the pro's and con's very well 🙏🏼
The main issue with AnyType is that it doesn't use Markdown natively. It does have import/export, but non-native support of a simple text based file format is a bit of a deal breaker.
definitely interested in a step by step guide! I find it really hard to learn :'( I love that it's encrypted and offline first and for this reason I'd like to use it as my primary second brain app
My best recommendations would be Obsidian, Notion, and Capacities. Obsidian might be the most easy to input math. But it's not as easy to use. Notion is the all rounder and most popular. Capacities is an in between of the two.
i might get around to graduating from capacities to anytype 🤣👩🎓 and if capacities ever goes sideways or down, im jumping on Anytype's ship 👍good to know that there's a competitor. This is like obsidian + capacities together?🤨😅
Hey, thanks for commenting! Unfortunately, I am not using either of the apps right now due to my needs changing so I can't make a video on it. But if I ever go back, I will make sure to make a comparison video!

Oooo. First choice is a hard question to answer as a productivity nerd. I think it is very close to being my ideal app, but there are features that other apps do better in. So it really depends on in what aspect you're talking about.
@@MegShinagawa as in just picking one app for putting all your data and notes in. I decided that app to be Capacities and paid for the Believer plan for a year.
I have an old love: obsidian. I have 2 relatively new loves: capacities & anytype. So i wanna marry them all. Do u think thats possible? Using different apps for different tasks: longform writing in obsidian is best. Dailies in capacities is really nice. And anytype for anything else:) will i go nuts with this concept:)? Maybe just hold anytype in rhe backhand.
Honestly, it's all about what works for you. So if you can manage it, go for it! It's true that each app has its own strengths and weaknesses so mashing them up would be so nice hahaha.
It is better to use one system for everything, even with a couple drawbacks. You could waste time with searching for a specific note. Except the areas are completely different and clearly sepererated . Like note taking and appointments.
What a classy video. I've been using Anytype for a few days and am blown away. I think you nailed the Pros and Cons. My experience has been similar.

sorry, silly question here. what's inline math? I'm just new to all these stuff

No inline math in 2023? No deal. Thanks for the review. Sticking with Capacities.
As mentioned majority of people do not use inline math whether it’s 2023, 1999 or 2090 :-)
How would you compare the two?

Really detailed video. Thank you for the information, it really helped ✨

Definitely a steep learning curve. What parts do you find hard to learn?
Which notes app do you like that has inline notes?
I end up using either pages or notion

feedback - the background music is very distracting. in future, i would either not use background music or make it much much quieter
Thanks for the feedback! I will keep it in mind going forward :))
It has LaTeX, Mermaid and Chart now
Great!
olá. Testei praticamente uns dez app desde o Notion, etc., acabo sempre voltando pro Anytype.
Cool video, well explained

I would say yea, it's closest to Obsidian and Capacities!
Could you record a video of first perceptions about Heptabase?
I haven't tried it but I will look into it!
aight omw to try. you convinced me
You shouldn't cuz we're both CS tho 😆 No inline math notes 😢
Please do an updated comparison of AnyType and Capacities?

@SridharKatakam this is a hard question because as someone who tests a lot of apps, I don’t really have a home base right now.
Have you tried workflowly ?
@@AlexiaF-zf5gp Me? Yes. Btw, I switched to Bear.
Steep learning curve indeed, i would not recommend as first app for beginners to note taking. Obsidian is much simpler and ready out of the box.
