Welcome to the official April Wilkerson UA-cam channel. I’m April and I’m the creator of Wilker Do’s. I'm not professional or have any training, so I just pick the project I want to tackle and figure it out step by step. On this channel you will find a variety of content like DIY home improvement, How-To’s, construction and more.
I hope you install the railing soon! You make my palms and feet tingle whenever you work or hang out near the edge of your loft! It all looks great so far.
Thanks! Yes, Railing will be installed soon. Stay tuned for that video. Thanks for watching.
It’s so clever to have the bookcase stairs. It looks so sophisticated and pretty. Great job! I love it,
Thank you! Yes, I love how it looks also. Thanks for watching.
Awesome tip on the hole filling. It’s not only great to put a coat on first before filling the holes on oak but any other woods too.
You're right April "It is amazing for sure"!! It's unique and it's been a blast watching it all come together. Thanks for bringing us along for the ride.👍🏾💯
Great job on this custom multifunctional piece, you've designed and built it perfectly for this space! ... Well done April! 😃👍🏼👊🏼
Thanks so much!
@AprilWilkerson I love your inventive thinking! The stairs do have a 4th...bringing you joy and you definitely should be proud! I love your pure thrilled dance...lol
Thanks! Yes, it was an exciting build. Thanks for watching.
@@AprilWilkerson thanks for sharing
April. You are truly an inspriation. Seeing where you came from to where you are now is amazing. I hope one day I can take that first step you did in your journey. Currently I'm trying to get my mental health straightend out. I haven't had energry or motivation so hopefully ill get it straightented out.
This has to be the most innovative cabinet I’ve ever seen built! This is fantastic! I’ve built some weird stuff, but nothing like this, lol… Now, you’ve got me thinking how to build this into the stairs up to our loft! lol…. Keep on building April, you’re phenomenal!
Thanks! I'm glad you found it useful. Thanks for watching.
How cool! My husband and I were just talking about doing this on our barndominium house build for our loft!
I wrestle with drawer slides vs wood on wood drawers a lot. While drawer slides are easy to open, and sometimes close themselves. Wood on wood seems to last longer without needing repair. I enjoy seeing you do both in your videos April. 😃
Thanks!
Good morning, April! I am really enjoying this series of videos for this project. I have always been a firm believer in utilizing every square inch of available space without being intrusive to the living area, and you've certainly ticked that box. This project shows just how to do it. E-X-C-E-L-L-E-N-T!! Thanks so much for sharing. Have a great week. God bless.
Thank you for your kind words. I'm glad you are enjoying the Series. Thanks for watching.
Toujours aussi rayonnante April !!❤😊 bises de France !😊
Awesome Video April! While I do like the drawers built into the steps. I think the display shelves on the front give this project the “WOW FACTOR”! 🤩👏👍
Yes, it does look fabulous I think. Thanks for watching.
Great project love it beautiful use of space. I always tought cathedral ceilings look better with decor than plain.😊
Yes! Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for watching.
Now that's an awesome cabinet/stair/bookcase thingy! I'm going to check out that bosch measuring and I'm interested in that finish you sprayed too. Great build April! :)
Thanks! Yes, they are both amazing so I think you'll be pleased. Thanks for watching.
The Stair Cabinet / Bookshelf is Beautiful.
Thank you! I just love it! Thanks for watching.
Nice work on the storage and the stairs April! :) Thanks for sharing the video with us!💖👍😎JP
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching.

This has been a great series watching you build the loft and finishing it. Can’t wait to see it finished. Thanks for sharing
Thanks! I'm glad you're enjoying the Series. Thanks for watching.
You continue to amaze me with your builds. Thank you for sharing your talent on videos.
Thank you for your kind words. Thanks for watching.
Love the channel! You never cease to amaze…
Any plans to cover or sand the sharp edges of the stairs? As a tall guy who falls down often, that looks like a (another) nicked shin waiting to happen! 😱 😢
Well, you definately have an imagination and it looks really good, good luck with it all. Love your work shop too.
Thank you very much!
Love the combo square trick with the nailer
Thanks! I'm glad you found it useful. Thanks for watching.
Very nice! I’m very interested in the glass railing you’re going to install. I have opened up the side of my staircase, the last six steps would look really good with glass railing.
I love that skylight/balcony!
It is truly amazing! Thanks for watching.
I like the pre-finishing idea on the cut parts. What if you took that idea to the previous step and finished the entire sheet of plywood on both sides before you cut anything out?
Wow that's an amazing design. You always have the greatest tools . Have a wonderful weekend! It's my birthday yesterday!
Happy birthday! Thanks for watching.
wow, what a wonderful loft, I want to copy a few of ideas of that
I agree with Alan! Your work is beautiful! I like how you explain what your doing.
Thank you very much!
I am so impressed by your idea and your project April. Not too many people has a creative mind to do this. Great job April! 👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻👍🏻💞 How long did it takes you all together?
This has been a great series.
Thank you! I'm glad you're enjoying it. Stay tuned for the rest. Thanks for watching.
It turned out really great!😊👏👏👏 You are very whimsical!👏 ❤️💖🌹
Thank you!
Amazing design and great idea so perfect project 😊
April, I love the arc of your woodworking journey. Quite a way from that enterprising young lady a few years ago in her basement workshop, making a flip-up workbench/tabletop to maximize space (one of the first April videos I ever saw). What a beautiful and functional shelf/stair/drawer unit! Good job!
Awesome! Thanks for watching and staying along for the ride.
Cool video. I'm so jealous of your shop and all your tools!
Amazing, as always!! Innovative and functional design
Thank you very much!
Wie immer phänomenal!!! Liebe Grüße aus Deutschland. ❤
Thank you so much! Greetings from Texas!
How many times have you used your EDM and just measured everything in your house. Your face looks like you enjoyed it a whole lot. You did fantastic. Thank you for sharing
Thanks April!
great idea and design!
🪚🔨
Glad you like it!
Does finishing the interior of the cabinets before assembly impact the effectiveness of the glue on the joints?? I would think yes, but you say to finish first then assemble them for convenience.
Another Great Video 👍 Great content, keep up the great work!
Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoy my Channel. Thanks for watching.
For wood on wood drawers get some thin dollar store plastic cutting boards slice into 1 or 1/2 inch strips and screw or glue to the bottom of the drawer. Glides like a dream.
I would have used a clear acrylic sheet over glass seen way too many shower doors and walls break for no reason at all.
Terrific example of good design. Question: I understand the shelves will be for display only (and they visually complement the shelves on the back wall). But will items be sealed within those front shelves once the glass is installed? Or will portions of the glass be cut into hinged doors to allow access?
I believe the glass is going to start on each step and then up to the ceiling
Every time is an other great surprise 👍🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👍🏽🙏🏽
Thanks!
Again I luv it. Great work A .
Cool project, but why do you remove the slipcovers from your books?
Lovely job, as usual. I’m loving this series 😊
Why didn’t you made the drawers wider?
The drawers cannot be wider; they need to clear the shelves on the back wall when pulled-out. As usual, April had this all figured-out!
Or at least in the middle of the step?
Is Valhalla rising a good read? Nice cabinet!
Congratulations! You just reinvented a Japanese step tansu. 😂
I Love your work

I want to hear from your maid. The woman who has to dust all of that!
Love what you are doing. What house is this? Or whose house is this?
It's my house. :) Thanks for watching.
Nice work👍🌹

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching.
Okay. Why are you helping the big guy carry his end while the smaller guy is on his own ? 🤨🤣💖
You are so awesome April!
I have to ask, why the big empty space in those nice stairs steps up to the window that is against the wall. It certainly looked that it was fully empty space and that if it is so would be a huge waste.
So cool!
Thanks!
Nothing like maximizing space, right April? -->Ric
You have a video on X-Carve CNC. Can you please tell me what CNC means ??? Thanks
I was told never to put finish where you had to glue later. How come this does not work for you? It looks like you easily gleu over a painted surface. Or are you using a special paint for the inside? I'd be interested to know.
Sierk
dayuuum you have your own cnc shop?? thats sicc af. you must be a very wealthy person
Very hard-working over many years... :)
That glue joint will fail if it has finish on it before the glue. If you pre-finish, always tape off the part getting glue
I'm moving in with you 😂
What happened to assembly required ?? Were y'all planning on it only being 1 season ?
Due to CV, the Format of Assembly Required was remote. For Season 2, they changed name and Format to More Power. It was all such fun to film. You can find it on the History Channel. Thanks for watching.
@@AprilWilkerson interesting
Love it
Thanks!
Where is the link to the hvlp unit?
You could build a lot of what nots to store in the drawers you built!!!!🤣😅
Genius 👌
I have a huge crush on you past 10 years
Too much storage is never a thing. Too many things is a thing though 😆
Hi April ✌
Hi! Thanks for watching.
Another option is polyethylene tape, sticky on one side and slidey on the other.
MOOSE!!!!!
Ahem.... love the video. :)
(sorry, moose will forever remind me of the old show Northern Exposure - which your quirky sense of humor fits in quite well....).
Love the cuts and not needing the banding tape.
nice tip on using screws on the hidden surfaces.
Finally - fascinating tip of the varnish, putty, then varnish steps when dealing with the oak grain.
thanks again for the video.
April you need to dance on it
No safety rails. Be sure to tag your home insurance provider in this video 😂
She said she’s going to add a glass wall top to bottom on the left, instead of a railing.
You weren't paying attention 🤣
Actually, not a weird cabinet. Japanese have made them for centuries. What you have built is more-or-less a "step tansu".
Interesting! Thanks for Sharing and for watching.
Weird cabinets!!!??? My friend designed and built a custom unit for his kitchen he calls the “SRPBD”! “shoe rack-potato bin-desk”!!!
BOSCH, Made in Germany!
China , assembly in Germany.
where are the safety rails???
Stay tuned! They are being custom made and will be installed soon. Thanks for watching.
O/f page??
A book about Tiny Homes in a big house. 🤣
once built cabinets that the customer had to use a huge crane to lift into their apartment.
👍✌️👌👏💯❤️
Careful carrying your nail gun in your arms looked like the battery was still it. I had a nail gun accident with an air nailer into the shoulder several years ago. Still paying for it.😢
Oh my! Glad you are ok. Thanks for Sharing and for watching.
