I always thought his character in Piarates of the Caribbean had a Hunter feel to it as well and then you have Rango; a lizard sporting glasses, a cap and a Hawaiian shirt lost on the outskirts of the desert.
Hunter inspired me in my youth in many ways both good and bad and I'm the better for it.
It's rare for anyone to build such an intense friendship. They were both very lucky.
Off the bat it’s crazy to hear his voice and realize how Johnny really nailed his dialect and speech pattern to a tea. Sounds just like fear n loathing lol, great actor
A wonderful description of those times, and current events were admirably avoided even when Rum Diary came up. We've all had enough of that.

The Rum Diary is the book equivalent of bar hopping and it's beautiful in a batshit crazy way.
Depp nailed Hunter’s mannerisms, voice, energy, etc.. Even looked like him in the movie 😂 I can see how they are best friends. They both are odd ducks made for each other. Wish I would’ve been able to hang with Thompson 🚬🔫✌🏽
