for vay, chaeyoung said that changbin wrote it (as well as produced it) specifically for itzy following the news of lias return. i don't remember exactly where they said this because there are a few videos where they talk about the songs meaning, but they use VAY in place of WAY because it can symbolize only being halfway, the members specifically saying "although we've come far, we are only halfway there and are still moving forward"
Gold is a grower, listened 3 times and still didn't get it But what made me instantly like Gold was their Dance Performance & Karaoke Live version from Kstar Next Door And as a fellow Nswer , I really like unique experience also a Fun Fact : It took Yeji 8 Listens to understand Gold
Hahaha. Out of all albums, I didn't expect you to nitpick this particular one. I understand first impressions are tough. I didn't like this album on first listen, I was actually quite annoyed. Second time I put on my favorite headphones and I instantly loved it. But I very rarely unabashedly love a record the first few times. i need time with it. To my ears and tastes, this album is the perfect blend of experimentation and accessibility, between melody and energy. It's something that's not easy to pull of. aespa very often misses, tripleS and Billlie usually lean to one side or the other, while groups like StayC and Weeekly usually favor the more melodic side, while keeping some very quirky and lush production. But "GOLD" sounds perfect to my ears. It's a challenging listen and a very accessible one at the same time. Add the final versions of the previous songs, and the whole thing is just AOY. Only three other albums are currently challenging it, but this might end on top. ITZY finally appear to me like a true top tier group. They have outdone both aespa and NMIXX, without having the cool factor of the first, or the vocal chops of the later. And "GOLD" is MV of the year. Nobody talks about the MV, but it's the best stuff I've seen this year so far. Good reaction, but give yourself some rest. That certainly can have an impact on how you perceive music.
I just didn't like the first portion of the album that much. No excessive or rude criticism or belittling just not my cup of tea. You've seen a fair number of my reactions so you know I keep it genuine, and I do wear Senheiser HD 600's which are some popular audiofile headphones and the ones I use for mixing in daws. I appreciate the concern though and respect your opinion 💯
