This MAP is an alternate universe story based on the Warriors series by Erin Hunter. In the original story, the character Brambleclaw is given the choice to kill his leader and mentor, Firestar, who gets snagged in a fox trap, as planned by Brambleclaw's brother, Hawkfrost. Originally, Brambleclaw saves Firestar and kills Hawkfrost.
In this AU, however, Brambleclaw gives into his worst nature and slays Firestar. Hawkfrost sends his brother into a spiral by roping him into killing the leaders of the other clans, with Brambleclaw losing more of himself each time and being haunted by the ghosts of his victims.. He even murders his sister, Tawnypelt, who witnesses the brothers dispatching her leader, Blackfoot.
This culminates with Brambleclaw's mate Squirrelflight finding Brambleclaw on a murderous rampage. At Hawkfrost's behest, Brambleclaw chases her and adds her to his list of victims. Upon her death, the ghosts haunting him urge him to kill one more time, and Brambleclaw kills Hawkfrost.

The idea of them becoming prey everytime is creative and also bone chilling
I love it too! Like snuffing out these cats' lives has become as easy a task as hunting prey to him by the end.

And when it shows the prey being killed it doesn't show brambleclaw killing them it shows the cat that just died killing the prey
They say that they hold the possession if they die.
THE FACT THAT HE WAS SO USED TO THE POINTING THAT WHEN IT WAS AT HAWK HE JUST AUTOCHARGED IS SO SPOOKY AND EPIC ???!! EVERYONE DID SO AWESOME THIS IS STUNNING!

I love how you never get to see brambleclaw ACTUALLY killing the cats, just the prey versions of them. Its like he pretends to himself that he only sees them as something he needs to kill to survive, thus taking the guilt off him. Its such an interesting au, and the blood slowly covering more of brambleclaw as he continues his rampage is chilling. The imagery in this map has got to be one of my favs!
And afaik squirrel never shows as prey, he couldn't reason with him anymore
It’s also not brambleclaw actually killing the prey!! If you look at the shots of the prey getting killed, you can see it’s actually the cat who was just murdered killing the prey
I love how the Spirits don't even look angry at BrambleStar or even cry. They barely move or show emotion which even made me feel uneasy! I love this MAP so much!
Their stare feels almost judgemental..no anger, no crying, just starting at him..staring at what he's done and become..a haunting stare.
I think my favourite part is at 2:01 , since Tawneypelt runs away as fast as she could. However, Brambleclaw is at least twice as fast as her ( kinda showing how he's becoming less and less cat-like ). He's literally in the part for a few seconds, and I love how he's closer to the camera than tawneypelt was. Just thought it was cool.
I think why he ran monster fast was because of how he at the time was scared of what would happened if she told on them but after her kill he didn’t even care anymore

Oh I thought she was Leafstar but now that I think of it, the cat was in shadow clan territory so yea it’s probably tawny
one thing i noticed at the very end is that, even if squirrelflight doesnt die, her spirit still shows in brambles pov. in havent fully read the script and im not sure if this was the intent, however im to believe that its not the ghost of the cats haunting bramble, but rather brambles self cautious fighting against his brother, bramble GENUINELY believed he killed squilf and thats why he saw her pointing at him because he knew that she wouldn't have wanted this, and it spiralled to "no one wants this" in his head and therefor made him kill hawkfrost

i wanna talk about the "ghosts" bc like, i dont actually think their the actual ghost, i belive that the ghost are a figment of brambles twisted mind.
we can see this here 3:07 as squilfs ghost is shown, but in the end credits we see squilf still alive and breathing. this means that the pointing scene was all bramble!! he wanted hawkfrost dead in that moment!!

YEAH and in the part where he chases squilf up the tree, if you slow it down, you can see tears in his eyes!!!
@@Slugtail it really doesn't though? the movement is synced up to the beat of the song but his mouth movements don't match to what's being sung at all. that isn't a dig on the animator or anything. it just feels like they were going for him being out of breath, panting and talking to hawkfrost if anything but that's how it looks to me 🤷♀

this whole map is a work of art but i have to give props for 2:01 because i never really see camera work be utilised in map projects and it was done flawlessly. really adds so much to the intensity of the chase as well as brambleclaw stumbling over the camera just being a nice touch

Seeing Bramble slowly going insane and becoming an emotionless killing machine was so creepy to watch. Every death and the prey symbolism was so well done, plus the ghosts are so incredibly eerie.
(Also, the post credits scene revealing that Squirrelflight is still alive, oh what a relief. *But there is someone out there* )

Squirrelflight moved on her own though, which is the reason why they moved to pick her up so quickly though.
Though I'm curious as to what that means, since her ghost pointed at Hawkfrost to prompt him to be killed as well. This might mean that the ghosts weren't ACTUALLY their spirits, but a representation of them that Bramblestar had in his head after he killed them
@@ebentaylor Oooh that would be interesting… The ghosts not even being the spirits of the cats he killed but the manifestation of Bramble’s guilt? I think that would add to the eeriness of this map a lot since that makes the status of their ghosts uncertain
@@elokin300I think it was the manifestation of his guilt, as that usually happens to murders. It would also make more sense if it was since Squirrelflight seems to be alive in the end.

I literally cannot express how much I love this. The way the scenery gets darker, and Bramblestar looks more emotionless, and the blood is the only noticeable thing as the MAP goes on, is truly spine-chilling. The end credit song really adds to it, as well as the scene at the end that implies Squirrelflight is actually alive.
* clawing frantically at the bars of my enclosure * I CAN NOT BELIEVE IT'S FINISHED?! I ABSOLUTELY FELL IN LOVE WITH THIS CONCEPT AND AU THE MOMENT I SAW THE CALL AND I'M SO HAPPY IT'S COMPLETE!! I CAN'T WAIT
edit: oh man that was even better than i could have possibly imagined... the chills i got from both the talent of each animator and the utter bleakness present throughout the whole project is truly unmatched! the animators pulled off this dark atmosphere and sheer hopelessness with each ruthless kill of his "prey" as brambleclaw slowly lost himself completely so flawlessly! the pre-production team, the perfect storyboarding, and the well-crafted storytelling also played a huge part in making this whole thing very seamless and all of it combined made this definitely one of my favorite wc aus and maps to date! hats off and congrats to ben, every animator, and each and every person involved! ❤

like, imagine just going for a stroll and seeing some random cat point a paw and then some other random cat run out and murder one of its own species??
The gloomy sinister atmosphere is just so perfect! All of the parts blended super well with each other, and it captured Bramble's descent to insansity in such an intruiging manner. Well done to the animators!

I noticed it did that every time a cat died
So, if I understand correctly, they weren't actually ghosts. They were just Bramble's consciousness haunting him since we can clearly see in the very end that Squirrel is still alive. Bramble basically didn't want any of this, he just wanted to help Hawk because they were kin and he went too far, and at one point - when Hawk literally ordered him to k!ll the cat he loved the most - he had enough, and his mind was like "No way bro, let's put an end to this". If so, I absolutely love that idea.
The eerie chill feeling of Bramble losing all empathy and emotion, the starclan cats cold stares that gave off slight disappointment and sadness, as they use Hawkfrost’s trick, His weapon, against him. This map is amazing good job to all the animators.
As someone who is a SUCKER for death scenes/animations, this is now one of, if not my favorite MAPS. The way it cuts to the prey being killed, the difference in the way they die, the way the ghosts look as they haunt him, it’s just GRAHAHSH SO GOOD!!! ❤❤

I like that with every death Bramble'Claw causes that the colour of the screen gets more grey and colourless except for the blood on him. It's a really cool and creative way of showing how he loses himself more and more with every victim he's slayed and how bloodthirsty Hawk'frost has made him.
I love how when you see the prey versions of each victim being killed, Its not Bramble being the one to kill them, but the cat whos being killed. You can see this most clearly with Tawnypelts death. Such a cool detail!

I love how desaturated and dreadful the atmosphere becomes as Bramble kills more and more characters, its really eerie as if the forest is losing life along with the cats and prey
So proud of my fellow participants in this project. Murder by bramble means so much to me, and I’m so happy to have been given a space on the project. Such intelligent, creative artists have worked on this project and I hope it gets the recognition in the fandom that it deserves.

AA THIS TURNED OUT SO GOOD, this is now one of my favorite MAP projects
I just adore the concept and the colours and the more Bramble kills the more insane he starts to look, like he has no thoughts of his own and is just following orders.
AND THE ANIMATION, EVERYONE DID AMAZINGLY AGH!! This is soo well done!!
the thing i really like about this map, besides the excellent animation, of course, is that the storytelling is clear enough that i think anyone could follow the premise and appreciate the symbolism while knowing nothing about warriors. many maps unfortunately suffer from having pretty unclear storylines (which is very understandable, it’s hard!!) but everybody nailed it here!
the way it gets dull and colourless once he gets into his “spree” is a really good detail and really spooky
that map was BRUTAL and I mean that in the best way possible!! possibly one of the most haunting warriors maps I've ever seen, bramble's decent into madness feels creepy plausible and you can just feel how after he kills tawny it's too late for him to go back even if he wanted to. im loosig my mind
and when all of the ghosts pointed at hawkfrost?? POETIC CINEMA
all of the artist did so well with this and the script is just fantastic, congrats to everyone involved!!
I haven’t even gotten to the New Prophecy, and didn’t really realise what this was an AU for when I clicked on it. Then I just saw Firestar trapped in some wire with a creep standing over him and nearly gagged. Firestar’s face was enough to send me into a straight up coma, but instead I just had to sit in a dark room for a sec.
Bro this map is so dark. He genuinely gave me such chills, especially watching BRAMBLESTAR slowly become a killing machine
Love the portrayal of them dying as prey animals and this whole idea as a whole, the mood of this map has been accuanted very well and the song fits perfectly
This looks so amazing finally put together. I like the scene at the end especially since I noticed earlier that Cloudtail and Leafpool were in it and didn't get murdered. Everyone did a great job on this!
(Edit) some more things I noticed on a second rewatch:
0:28 Firestar's fur bunches up when Hawkfrost presses down on the wire
0:38 Brambleclaw flinches when he presses down on the wire
0:43 He looks away as he kills Firestar and then looks to Hawkfrost for approval and smiles nervously. They them part ways
0:48 Bramble's guilty conscience weighs on him
0:53 Bramble is startled by Fire's ghost and his fur is ruffled in the same way. He then looks away with a sad expression
0:55 He looks up as he remembers the murder of Leopardstar, literally above his head
1:08 Bramble is startled by the blood on his paws, looking down as he suddenly sees Leopard's murder
1:16 He pauses to get Hawk's approval before he kills Leopard
1:36 Bramble is noticeably less saturated now except for his eyes and his expression is more blank
1:50 Bramble is frightened when he sees Tawny
1:58 that terror disappears as soon as he sees Hawk pointing
2:04 the blood splattering on the camera
2:09 Bramble's sides are heaving. 2:11 as Hawk lifts his head up, Tawny also rises up
2:13 Bramble's eyes go blank as he realizes what he has done. From here on his expression is almost always empty
2:33 the methodical way he tears out Onestar's throat
I know ppl have already talked about 2:37, but this is the most expressive Bramble has been since murdering Tawny
2:42 Squilf's fur bristles like her father's
3:06 Bramble is almost afraid. Squilf is the first cat to point at Hawk
3:17 Hawk notices that something is wrong too late and he dies in the same way he originally does, at the claws of the monster he helped create
5:48 Leaf and Cloud are relieved that Squilf is alive but they both perk their ears and tails in the same direction when they hear a twig snap
Fantastic work, I love the gradual fade to monochrome as Brambleclaw descends.
Honestly, I can't help thinking of Macbeth, especially with Bramble hallucinating blood on his paw before killing Leopardstar. "Will all great Neptune's ocean wash this blood clean from my hand? No, this my hand will rather the multitudinous seas incarnadine..."
1:54 I really like Brambleclaw's look of up-coming regret and worry, knowing that Hawkfrost will point at her, thus making him kill her.
I LOVE the touch of each victim being represented by a prey animal. Probably one of my favorite details in any MAP, ever.
I’ve been following this project for a while now, and by golly I’m so happy to see it finished! This is the kind of WC MAP we’ve been missing, something bleak and hopeless. This beautifully executed story paired with the amazing animations is a telltale sign that this is going to be spectacular! ❤️
I honestly love all the imagery from the victims looking like prey to the starclan cats holding the prey they were portrayed as (Squirrelflight holding a squirrel and Blackfoot holding a toad.) It reminds me of the Halloween special from the Walter Files!

another small detail i love about this is the first point to firestar is just a cheeky little thing on hawkfrost's end, then it evolved into the trigger for every death that follows
the post credits is SO GOOD, having there be a loud snap without knowing what it was.. really puts us in the same feeling of fear as the surviving cats not torn apart or aware of Bramble and Hawk’s spree. wonderful job everyone!!! i love this map so much!! 💖
Imagine being a human and walk into the forest and just seeing a bunch of dead cats and two others ones alive,one with blood in their fur and the other one pointing to you.

Good lord the atmosphere of this MAP is so beautiful, the black and white tones plus the red at the last scenes really makes it a cool concept, it makes you understand how slowly Bramble lost himself.
I love every part especially the scenes when he kills someone they are represented with a different prey when Brambles hallucinates them
And all of his victims are stuck with him at the end THATS SUCH a gooddd detail
Ive watched this so many times... its so chilling and well done. The colours growing less saturated with each kill and each cat being represented by prey was so cool. And can I just mention how creepy 2:34 is? Bramble's blank face as he adjusts his biting grip is so eerie. And all the animation was fantastic!
I forgot to mention this before but i love the implication that the spirits are just Bramblestar's imagination. Since Squilf survives, she obviously wouldn't be a spirit. It's a cool representation of how killing affects Bramble's mental state
I love how Bramble still shows some emotion at the beginning or remorse when the ghosts come but as he isroped into the plot more his guilt is wiped away and as he kills his owe mate his blank eyes feel nothing seriously tho this is amazing
This is easily one of my favourite maps. The way the backgrounds get less bright and colourful, the way each victim is represented as different types of prey, the fear in squirrel’s eyes, the way bramble turns on hawk under the command of the ghosts… I could go on for ages!
The comparison between prey and the victims is so perfect and creative. Creepy and bone chilling. I really like this.
The way it got so dark so slowly i didnt even realize the change the first time i watched this it's insane
I genuinely think this is one of the most disturbing Warriors animations. Sure we have lots of Halloween spooky gory animations but this one was almost bone chilling, one cat killing more and more of the cats around him, including the ones he held dearest, because he cannot control himself. I also like the touch that at least after he killed Firestar when he saw his ghost he had a chill run up his tail, and he looked remorseful
Honestly I rlly think 2:58 rlly gave me chills. There’s just something so unsettling about bramblestars eyes the way they look at squilf as she struggles just gives me chills

Bramble looks absolutely haunting, Hawk is smug boi behind the slaughter(er), and their victims' ghosts are wonderful and eerie!
The credits look gorgeous and the song for them is a nice touch. I'd like to know its name!
The post credits scene pleasantly surprised me - I wondered why Cloudtail was in that one scene with Squirellflight and Leafpool, and it's so cool to see a pay-off for that! Leafpool crying for her sister and smiling the moment Squirell turns out to not be dead yet hit me right in the feels.
I wonder how much do they know - are they yet to find out the culprits behind this killing spree? Do they only know of Brambleclaw or suspect Hawkfrost is also responsible? Maybe Leafpool knows more, if some of the victims went against Starclan usual murder policy "Don't tell anyone the culprit's name -RIP Redtail- ".
Also the pre-MAP premiere animation was adorable!

this whole video is terrifying and I love it! especially the birch trees having eyes on them near the 1:25 mark and Bramble hallucinating the blood on him before murdering Leopardstar
the detail of brambleclaws eyes becoming more and more slitted compared to the normal wide circle shape was amazing to me, shows how he loses his mind more and more!
Everyone did such a beautiful job! The visual storytelling and character acting in this project are amazing.
i absolutely love this map so much?? WHY IS EVERYONE SO TALENTED?? the way he shows less emotion the more he killed, when he started becoming larger, honestly it felt like he was becoming a machine. just a robot that hawkfrost made kill everyone. dark stories like this always fascinate me!! much love!!
1:25 i love that the birch trees look like they have eyes on them in this scene. Really makes it feel like bramble is being constantly watched and judged
I like to think honestly that during those black split visions we get between the victims is brambles brain trying it last bit hardest to try to keep the little sanity. It has by envisioning it simple hunting prey that bramble would probably do during every day patrols

I loved seeing Brambles descent into madness and how Hawkfrost was so good at psychologically manipulating him, not realizing that the monster he made was only under his control when he was being told to kill someone. SO COOL!!!!🎉🎉❤❤❤ THE ART AND ATMOSPHERE IN THIS IS INCREDIBLE, GOOD JOB TO EVERY ARTIST AND ANIMATOR WHO TOOK PART IN THIS!!

Fr tho, I love a good map with solid art direction! The color pallet being so washed out with only the bright red as color but still being legible is very well done.
The shot where he chases Squilf up the tree reminds of the ferocity of Nago in the beginning of Princess Mononoke- it's just vicious and brutal!
That phrase from that shot at 0:49 to 0:50 “Just let it die.” Is bone chilling. *shiver**
That was _HARROWING!_ Everyone did such a great job! The imagery, the color choices, just everything. It's so atmospheric, and it's going to stick with me in the way that things that truly embody the label of "horror" _should._ Everyone involved with this really did the most. I hope y'all are taking a nice, long break rn. You've all more than earned it!

2:01 Omg the chills I get even now rewatching this part for the 5th time is amazing! The screen splatter and cold blank expression ❤️
I know nothing about warrior cats, but this! THISS!! How are all these animators so good!!!!! And the whole concept of just random people coming together to create something for free, not only this long, but also so SO GOOD is absolutely mind-blowing to me. Love it
I think the really cool part about this map is the color pallete, and how it slowly changes throughout the video. In the beginning, its very vibrant and colorful. But as time goes on, those colors fade and become muted. Until all but the red blood is just grey. Showing Bramblestar's descent, and how his world has slowly been broken down into nothing but death and blood.
This is one of those MAPs where you have absolute chills watching it

The way colors are utilized in this map is amazing.. sure, the pacing is a bit quick, but it gets the message across without any words. Great job everyone!

I think it's so interesting how Brambleclaw's first kill was a mercy killing because he had accidentally made Firestar suffer so much by pulling on the wire. I also love that the whole map each cat killed turns into prey being caught by the victim... It reminds me of the description of Hollyleaf killing Ashfur which is a really fun detail. ANYWAY great job to everyone involved!

This whole MAP was exceptional!
I love the metaphorical changes, like how Bramble gets bloodier fur, and how at the beginning the colours were soft and at the end they were black and white.
All the animators did an amazing job. Each part was flawless in the sense of being on-time and beautifully drawn.

I love how as BrambleStar starts killing more cats, the backround becomes more grey and monotone, just as BrambleStar is becoming. Yet, the emotion on the characters that are getting killed are on point!

I love the detail that the colors get dark as Bramble kills!
I like how, when Bramble was carefree, and he hadn't started his "genocide route", the light was warm, symbolising he had control over what he was doing. As he began killing more people, the light became darker and the blood showed clearer, showing how the only thing he knew know, was murder. Edit: Also, the blood covers bramble more as he kills more. First it was him hallucinating he had blood on his paw, then it spread to his chest, then his mouth, until almost all of him was bloodshot
This is magnificent, one of the best and most creative AU MAPs I've seen by far!! The parts look so cohesive, and all the animators executed this concept beautifully, from the violent murder scenes to the eerie haunting - the flickering effects on the ghosts and the detail of each carrying a prey animal associated with their character was a perfect touch! I know I'll be watching this one again and again for years to come
Just saw the end credits, and I'M SO RELIEVED SQUILF MIGHT YET BE SPARED??? If anyone was gonna survive, I'm glad it's her. If that was meant to be sequel bait, consider me hooked, lined, and sunk, lol

This is absolutely beautiful! The storyline is gruesome but it makes so much sense if Brambleclaw actually killed Firestar! Everyone animator did a lovely job!

Can I just point out that it’s such a bone-chilling and incredible detail, that maybe it’s just me, but when the lyrics of the song ‘I fight, and I fight’ come on, the word ‘fight’ sounds like the last yowls of a dying cat. And those words are in multiple parts of the song, implying that it’s the dying yowls of every cat Brambleclaw has killed. Maybe it was intentional, maybe it wasn’t, but I just thought that it was a really cool detail.

I had to rewatch this twice but i absolutely love that with each kill he loses part of himself and the world around him begans to lose saturation
The way Bramble just listens to Hawk no questions asked is so eerie. The prey thing is absolutely awesome and the way the ghosts point at Hawk and Bramble obeys willingly. Bramble’s blank, emotionless stare is creepy and Hawk’s wide grin throughout the map just tells me immediately that he is no good guy. And by the way, at one point there was Bramble next to Hawk and StarClan Bramble was MASSIVE compared to Hawk. This makes so much sense. Killing spree, huge cat, spooky, prey-themed ghosts, dark, saturated colour palette making the blood the only bright colour. All of this is so- I don’t know! It’s amazing and all the artists did an unrealisticly amazing job.
This map is amazing🤯🤯 (I have watched it five times lmao) Did anyone else notice the parts gradually get more gray-With the blood being the only remaining vibrant part? Anyway the attention to detail is super yummylichous and this map is amazing 😺

I hope we get a sequel to this wonderful map or I think we will get one due to the post credit ending
THIS. WAS. AMAZING!! I really love this concept of murderer Bramble, and I’ve been following it ever since the MAP call came out! It was worth the wait! All of the animators did amazingly well on their parts, which really made the MAP worth watching! I am so relieved Squirrel survived in the end... One day, I’m gonna be like one of these awesome animators and work on a MAP as amazing as this! Again, awesome, AMESOME job, everyone.

Edit: also brambleclaw constantly grooming his pelt. Excessive grooming is a behaviour seen in cats who are stressed. It really makes you see how its affecting him.
I absolutely adore the ghost's designs! The prey symbolizing the clans/ names, and the whole map is just beautiful!

OMG I LOVE THE WHOLE PREY THING- LIKE HOW THEY BECOME ENVISIONED AS PREY WHEN BRAMBLE KILLS THEM, AND THEN THEY ARE LATER SEEN HOLDING THE PREY THAT REPRESENTED THEM AT THE TIME- I JUST LOVE THAT-
I've watched this three times already and every time I get absolute SHIVERS down my spine. The story is so unsettling and sinister and MAN did everyone do an INCREDIBLE, JAWDROPPING JOB. Absolutely phenomenal all around oh my gosh. I love the symbolism with the prey but also I LOVE how the colors fade over time as Bramble really loses his grasp of himself, with the only color remaining at the end being the red blood soaked into his fur. It's SO good.
