The Fw 190 A-5 was one of my most played planes a few years ago. I decided to go back this week and revisit it and see how the ole Butcher Bird is still holding up in game.

I just love the way the 190 a’s are shaped. The wide radial engine with the narrow body. And the cockpit just makes it better.
You should play the T-26-4. The ultimate low tier "derp gun"

I've started grinding the Italian ground tier 1 and notice I've been killed by a lot of T-26's. And all the other vehicles.
The t-26-4 good shell only has 37mm of Pen
Some great flying with the underrated Butcher Birds. In groups they are deadly. Now if only the 2000 HP A-9 came to the game at some point...

Everyone loves the Spitfires, the Zeroes, and the Bf-109s. Me, I love the tanks. The Hurricanes/Typhoons/Tempests, the Ki-44s/Ki-84s, the Fw-190s... and of course, the Jugs. I may not be able to out-turn much, but I can either out-roll it, out-dive it, or flat out-gun it.
@@DarkTau Compared to everything else, Ki-44s, 61/100 and 84s are very maneuverable energy fighters in comparison. But everything feels heavy compared to the Japanese aircraft. They are not Zeros, but in the bigger picture except maybe against Spitfires, that does not matter.
But yeah, I love the 190's but the 3rd person nature of Air RB does not favor such BnZ aircraft compared to the lighter 109s. Not like IL2 GB.

They're not underrated, not in War Thunder. Flying any aircraft in groups is deadly. Spitfires, Bf-109s, Yaks, A6Ms, P-47s ... even Typhoons.
The A-5 is pretty bad for it's BR. In fact, the only decent ones are the A5/U-12 and the F-8 because you need every bit of performances you can get with the late Anton. The A-1 at 3.3 is fine too I guess.
I still don't understand why Gaijin chose to put the A-5 and the A-8 in game instead of the A-6 and A-9 respectively. (WT being a very competitive game)
And yeah I would love to see the A-9 at 5.0 ^^ It was "passed in developpement" or whatever a long time ago but no news since. Maybe they have trouble finding reliable sources on the plane, especially what engine did it use.

It's performances and the teams : you're not really faster than most of your opponents, and you don't really climb well meaning you won't get the initiative in the begining of the match ... unless you're side-climbing. In that case, you can count on your allies to die really fast and when you're combat ready it's too late, you already lost the number advantage. Fortunatly, the Fw 190s are Germans planes so it's less of a problem because their teams often crush Allied teams ... but it's not thanks to Fw 190s.
Also in War Thunder RB you can't stall on wings (stall when turning/maneuvering) which is a blessing for the Fw 190s, the problem is more the gamemode itself : Air RB is pretty much an Arena deathmatch without respawn so if you don't have the performances to win a 1 vs 1 you will get screwed eventually if your team get destroyed. You can't really run eternally so your opponents can build energy without issue if you don't put pressure on them ... which is hard when your plane is only fast (which isn't even the case for the Fw 190s). So long that you don't lose your teammates it's all good, which is why it's better to play those BnZ planes in squad (but it won't make the aircraft better).
@@asiftalpur3758 No, from observations about its top speed at medium and low altitudes, its top speed due that draggy Turbocharger arrangement don't look that good. But I have heard good things about it overall though, especially up high. Got the Dora 13 with spare money instead though.

A lesson with 30s. If you think you’re leading enough, lead some more
Not necessarily. The Fw190 F-8 gets Mk103 30mms. These ones have a higher muzzle velocity than the 30mm Mk108s. I believe the velocity of these 30mms is more similar to MG151/20s than a 10-year-old throwing a dodgeball.
On that same note, I've never seen someone using these with the HVAP belts and killing tanks in Ground RB... I should try it out.

I just read an article the 108s were flat for 300 meters and the ultra powerful 103 was 30 by 184 mm which out ranged everything the allieds had

I could watch you guys fly and fight forever. My absolute fav TBLF vids are the dogfights... and Spin Tires, those slay me as well, but for their incompetence. The flying vids are impressive BECAUSE of the competence. Wish I had those flight chops.

I started grinding Germany got the first fw190 and I love it and did a cobra (sorta) on a f4 in a custom battle and got the kill
Fun fact about 190s: they only have takeoff flap but they rip at like 550kph (which is quicker than most dogfights). They make the 190 turn much quicker than most will suspect. It will outturn p-51s no problem with said flaps.
