Plus, they are not pulling alot of tonnage and that is how they get away with operating them here, money is spent on fuel using two engines to avoid costly breakdowns as opposed to one engine under a heavier load… They seem to be surviving …
Jason, you did a good job of documenting another aspect of railroading that most people don't find as glamorous as pulling the throttle and blowing the whistle.
Really nice job on the entire derailment semi-fiasco! I enjoy your efforts to provide both pleasant and informative railway episodes from your (literally) backyard. Keep up the great work!
The engineer had confidence in the work of the Maintenance of Way crew's repair of the track where the derailment occurred. He did not hesitate or slow down as he moved the train through the S curve. The MOW crew deserves a round of applause for their work at the derailment site. (Posted on 13 December 2024 at 2033 CST.)
A friend of mine who was a dispatcher for the S OO Line and CP lived there until it was sold off to the Indiana RR. The Hiawatha yard and the shops are sharp looking. Glad to see some quality railroad operations in the Midwest
Great search!!! More super videos by you! Thanks for sharing! I’m seeing other videos on the ELS in other areas than your locations! Seems your filming has caught on by other fans in the other locations of ELS.
Ummm, what is that tall smokestack sitting by the road "in the middle of nowhere" used for? And where did all that snow go? As usual, after the sun comes back that Mother Nature woman got rid of it, with some help from the road crews.
That is "Trump Tower". It was part of an open mining operation years ago and the tower is all that is left. Odd that no kar or truck has not smacked it. Anyway, before the election took place the owner of the property had a huge "Trump Tower" sign applied to the smoke stack but the city forced him to take the sign down with a fine of $500/day. Jason has a video of the sign being installed.
We got a good old sun today - heading for 95 degrees F today and could be 100 on Monday!! I assume that ELS works in "dark territory" with TWC or Train Order?
It's okay to keep maintenance and work with the locomotives you have, but has ELS ever considered buying an old AC4400CW or an EMD MAC locomotive from another railroad company?
Happy Friday night Jason then got the trains back on the rails let's just hope for no more do I need to say it don't wanna jinx it. Well anyways another great video have a great weekend.
OK. We have now witnessed the train of the week and hopefully they stay on the track all the way to Green Bay Unlike other trips they wyed the power so 1221 got to tiptoe over the repaired trackage first and survived. 12 cars of siding just a bit less than average and the nine cars of logs got unloaded in that stretch. Lord knows what deadline that FURX covered Hopper was in but that must have been the lucky charm for the trip. Frankly since that NB trip the night before had four tank cars that whole plant may have been dangerously close to shutting down if it hadn't arrived. It was surprising the two cars that didn't derail didn't make the trip but weren't there cars to take back from Alter? It may take some real work and look to get this back on track to have any kind of normal rail service. A twist on the Jawtôoth statement. We've had derailments coming up on the bad weather season and even Motive Power problems. So what's the worry? By the way his tape from Thursday 12\12 had a SB NS Freight in Erlanger KY that had two Center beams of siding at 26:00+ almost felt like cheering them on.
From the News Center of Old Tom Cat News, you may be experiencing three to five feet of snow in the next week plus. what is most unusual thing that seen in a boxcar door as years ago I saw a cat, it was like he had gone in for a nap and just woke with the look of where am I?
The old sd9 pulls the grade with ease, so enjoyable to watch that old engine doing its thing, thank you Jason you make it possible for me to watch it
Yes, considering that they only have 1,750 horsepower. Sd 9 and SD40 are my favorite locomotives..
Plus, they are not pulling alot of tonnage and that is how they get away with operating them here, money is spent on fuel using two engines to avoid costly breakdowns as opposed to one engine under a heavier load… They seem to be surviving …
Cheech and Chong on the UP tour. Track work is tough in this weather. Them boys earn their pay 😊❤

Brilliant blue sky on sunny day!
Love seeing the classic locos still working!
Me too, they are beautiful!

Wonderful! The cars aren’t rocking from side to side!
Yet !!!

I'm glad E&LS is now operating like a well oiled machine.
Another great looking video. Crisp images.
Appreciate the watch!
Great to see some train action from the U.P.!! I miss the trains roaring through Gaylord!
Broken pole crossing, eh? At least the termites are still holding hands.
Stay warm Jason & have a good weekend my dude! Thanks for the videos!
i love the sound of the Horn, 7:08😊
Good job Jason
Great to see ELS 1221 up and running again after the derailment last week
I enjoyed that video👍👍
What? No derailments? Why did I even subscribe to this channel? 🤣 Just kidding- I like it. Man it sure looks cold 🥶 to this California boy!
Great video.
Thanks for the visit
Nice catch
Sounds like they got that P5 fixed up nicely
Not much snow in Iron Mountain. We have a little more than that here in Kalamazoo.
Hellllooo, Kazooooo!
As Jaw Tooth would say,
" They were booking! "
" What's the hurry? "
A southbound train with Cheech and Chong, headed up by 1221 and 502 with an orange fred on the end! What more could a rail fan ask for?
Thanks Jason 😊

It is a small world!
Great location
Great 😊!,0:15
Your getting good at this train stuff. Now all's we need is a good Roadmaster to up grade the track, and we will be all set.
Love the classic wine of the big geep.
Good place for a Christmas tree lot.
Good catch Jason what's good bro?
Can't believe 1221 is almost 70 years old!
the traffic lights just after the refurbished curve were out of order ???
That is a lot of siding for sure.
Jason it’s not the length of the train that counts but the load it carries!!! 😂
AWESOME!!!!! 👍
good train video
This is probably how ELS will fix the problem rail !!
Great video Jason. No more noisy curve horray. Are they the same rails?
00:28 seconds...
What is that massive column on the side of the road.
Where id this on Google maps?
Hamilton Rd @Something-Berry Ave in Iron Mountain Mi.
Kimberly Ave.
744 N. Kimberly Ave.
Old chimney from the looks of it.
Jason, did you notice there was no squealing or screeching going around that repaired curve in Iron Mtn? Not a chirp or anything whatsoever.
I have been waiting to hear Squeaky Korner after the track work...
Iron Mountain, Snow way Man!

Very quiet @ Squeaky Korner !!!
No more grinding sounds in that replaced track area
FSC Trucking mentioned JT in a recent video
Lol, round of applause please …
SD-40 train Show
We don't ever see 1201 on this segment. Only have ever found them in Marinette.
We got a good old sun today - heading for 95 degrees F today and could be 100 on Monday!! I assume that ELS works in "dark territory" with TWC or Train Order?

I keep forgetting there is a house just to the left (out of frame).
No rail screeching

Are they gonna fix the railroad crossing that they hade to flag?
No Squeaking # Squeaky Korner !!!
That was done before they fixed the rolled rail. Previous video showed it. I believe the town fixed that
Thumbs up. I wonder how much revenue in dollars this railroad brings in each year.
🚂🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃👍
