    I've played and love Escape. I'd like to try Zombie City, but imagine I'll prefer Escape. I have a couple comments on your final thoughts.
    1. Have you played Escape with the expansions? Specifically, the quests? I find they add a lot of theme to an already thematic game. (I'm sure Zombie City will get nice expansions too)
    2. I've found splitting up in Escape a recipe for disaster. Someone is usually getting hit by curses and needs help. Though I can see how you have to work more closely in Zombie City.
    3. Zombie City looks more fiddly than Escape to me. In real time games I like to be rushed in doing my own thing, not rushed in running the game. I think dealing with the zombies would annoy me. (I have the same though with Zombie 15)
    Anyhow, thanks for showing another game I was interested in.

    Great video Richard (as usual). Was really waiting for checking this one and compare it with Zombie 15. I think the points you and Jen mention regarding the Zombie 15 are really valid. Also Zombie 15 is much more expensive than Escape Zombie City. Thanks again and keep up the great work :)

    Thanks for another set of videos! You briefly compared this to Zombie 15 and I've already watched your series on that as well. Do you have anything to add that would help us decide between the two?

      Jon Reed oh whoops! i forgot to come back to that in the vid! well, anyway, z15 isn't as good for 2p IMO because it requires you control 4 characters. also, z15 has a much heavier setup time, while EZC you can just setup and go very quickly. z15 has a nice storyline that evovled through multiple levels, which is nice. gameplaywise, they're both very different, but comparable in terms of strategy and teamwork opportunties. i'm happy to own and keep both :)|

    I'll be getting "Curse" for my daughter's 11th birthday and "Zombie City" for my grandson's 11th birthday. Both this year. :)

    Just my opinion, but I don't think that the original Escape: The Curse of the Temple is very "lone wolf"-ish as you suggest. I watched your runthough of the original Escape (and therefore the ultimate reason I bought it), but I noticed that you missed a very crucial rule for all of that "lone wolf"-ish gameplay. When you share the yellow faces on the dice, you can only share those with other people IN THE SAME ROOM as you. I don't mean to be offensive by any means (because I do love your runthoughs and upbeat demeanor :D), but might I suggest that you almost HAVE TO STICK TOGETHER in the original or else you can't accomplish much? I dunno... Just a thought...
    Great videos! Wonderful work!

      Jason Fisher we find our games of escape always follow a basic pattern. first 'act', split up and simply explore as many tiles as possible. 2nd 'act' stick kind of together in same area... reveal last tiles and also start dumping gems. third 'act', stick truly together to blow through gems quickly.
      nothing wrong with that at all, but it's how it shakes out for us. and i really liked that in zombies, we had to stick together much more, as the game actively chased us :)

      ***** Fair enough. Just making sure that was considered in your comparison. ;)

    Standees show information, while minis do not...ding, ding, ding! This is why wargames have been using chits instead of minis for decades. 😊
    Great video, thanks for the review.

      I don't get the love for minis. Most people don't paint their minis so I'd much rather look at a coloured standee instead of those damn grey plastic minis that all look the same.

    Own and Love Escape Curse of the Temple (and all expansions), is there enough difference to own both?
    P.S. Just found your series and wanted to say great work, can't wait to see more.

      Grant Johnston i think of zombies as basically another expansion for curse of the temple, as teh gameplay is similar just adding some new features. :)

    Hey. Didn't you said you where gonna compare with Zombie 15?Doesnt this game make you feel like you play by yourself? And if I play this with my little nephews i wonder what will happened since I wont be able to be the "game master "or referee. Will they be playing correctly under the pressure or wont they be tempted to cheat at some point ?

    • @rahdo
      @rahdo  7 років тому

      the game is certainly not one where you feel like you're playing by yourself, because you often need your teammates to help you out when you get surrounded by zombies and stuck with fear.
      people worry about "cheating" but tbh as long as folks are having fun, i don't really care. everyone is working together, so it's not like someone is cheating to beat someone else. but correct, in the real time, there's no way you can keep track of what everyone is doing so if you suspect someone might cheat, and that bothers you, that's a problem with the game.
      interestingly, that's not an issue with zombie'15, because everyone takes their turn sequentially, so you can see what they're doing and correct them.

    The original with all the various expansions make you play together more and you can't really spread freely and run on your own. Everyone sticks together and works together.

    • @rahdo
      @rahdo  6 років тому

      in 2p, that's not the case... you really do need to split up more because you've got fewer people covering ground :)
      at least, that's been our experience...

    you talked about cooperative games that make you feel like it's hopeless, and missed the ultimate example imho ;-) Robinson Crusoe: Adventure on the cursed island.

    I'm starting to collect table top games. I'm possibly getting forbidden island, pandemic and ghost stories soon. Any games you'd recommend for people who are only starting to buy table top games?

      A good starter euro style game I would recommend would be Lords of Waterdeep. [www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/110327/lords-waterdeep]
