@@chazy6782 idk if it’s the same every where but check your cuny first student center and go through the tabs most likely financial aid section but I’m not too sure there should be an option to upload your banking info for direct deposit if not maybe contact fafsa or your university

I was doing my fafsa today and in my Dad part in the financial section it only asked him 2 questions they didnt ask the other questions i see in this video. And when he went to the page where you can review it shows questions that didnt appear and its on blank. What does it mean?
I’m trying to get the parents section complete but it dosent show the screen of accepting the invitation or not
I have to aprove the download, and by doing so I am approving that information is sent to the IRS. Many people that is an immigrant will be afraid of that. Additionally, if you agree, then will you be able to see the information? or it would just be sent to the IRS without you being able to see it. Also, if you agree to download your information.... but do not finish the fafsa... is it too late? has your information already been sent to the IRS.... I STRONGLY believe that this is a TRICK to remove privacy people still has.
I have a small issue with my fasfs application. I have already filled it and submitted itthe school. I'm trying to send me a message that I needed to upload my government documentarion like a green card or citizenship. On their school portal. I tried to do that from my end, but it was so difficult to upload it.

QUESTION: One of the NEW parts is being a "CONTRIBUTOR" - and my question is that I am sending the invitation to my contributor(my parents), and it is already the second day but they said that they haven't received any invitation what can we do?
Ask your parents to log into their own FAFSA portal. An invitation from you should be listed in their portal.
Otherwise, check with them if the email is in their junk or do a search in their email account using keyword FAFSA.

QUESTION : One of the NEW parts is being a "CONTRIBUTOR" - I heard if so, then each "contributor" is required to have a FAFSA ID , which requires them to apply for this BEFORE filling out the FAFSA so you have it at hand.. In previous yrs, myself , the MOM was the only one who needed the FAFSA Id (never my husband, we are married, we file Jointly on our Tax returns). WIll my husband NOW need a FAFSA Id also , or if Married, still only (1) parent , as our Taxes are filed Jointly every year?

Since you and your husband file taxes jointly, it's generally sufficient for just one of you (either you or your husband) to have an FAFSA ID for the purpose of signing the FAFSA application.
However, having both parents create an FAFSA ID can be beneficial in certain situations. For example, if one parent's ID has issues or if there's a need for the other parent to access the FAFSA application separately. It's more about convenience and backup rather than a requirement :)

@@BestCollegeAidUSA I was surprised that, as a mom, I created my own FAFSA ID, but I am married and file jointly (taxes) with my husband. As I helped my daughter fill out the student part, I was invited to fill out the parent part. when I was doing that, it asked for my husband's information, and he was sent an email. He didn't create an ID. Why is it asking for his info now too? Also, do you know why a question was asked about how many kids are in college? We have twins, and yes, we will fill this form out for each kid. We know the form was changed to not give credit for multiples or more than one kid in college. Why do they ask this question, then? How many kids are going to be in college for the 2024-2025 year? Data??? Curiosity?

Hello! I'm stuck at the "Invite parents to FAFSA form". When I put down information about my parent, it displayed "unable to complete this action". The student section has been completed and submitted however when i go to parent section it wont let me in. I click access existing form, click on the form, and then it just send me right back to the home page. Been like this for two weeks. Idk if this is the reason as to why its happening but my form in my activity is under a section called "drafts" rather then being in the "open" section. How do I solve this problem? Ive tried calling several times and they just say be patient but I have to have this in by the end of January to be eligible for the eof program at my school of choice.

If you're married filing jointly, does the student need to send separate contributor invites to each parent? My husband received and accepted the invite, but I haven't received mine yet in my activity task. Although my name and SSN are listed on my husband form, I'm unsure if both of us need to sign as contributors, or if one parent's signature is sufficient.
As per the FAQs on the studentaid website, only one parent can be the contributor if you have filed jointly

Hello, first-time FAFSA form filer here. I am a student and I have a question regarding the contributor (Spouse) in the FAFSA application. I have filled and submitted the FAFSA application as an independent status however my husband didn't receive any email invite to fill in his financial info. I received an email confirmation after an hour of applying, and the confirmation email didn't mention anything about my husband if he needed to file his info. We live together and file our taxes as married jointly. I am confused and I want to know what I should do. Should I wait for the invite or does my husband just use his FSA ID and fill out his info without an email invite?
If married and filed jointly only one can be the contributor as per the FAQS on the student aid website
Did your husband previously fill out a FAFSA form with his FSA ID? Were you able to successfully submit his information on the Spouse Information page?

What if grandma lives in the house but does her own tax returns, can we add her as a dependent? She has no income (only social security and husband pension) and we do provide most of the financial support for her and we the parents pay the mortgage, but she is not considered a dependent on our tax returns?

I think the government lied. It’s not ready, but they just want to gaslight us.
That's because FAFSA lied. It was supposed to be FULLY released by Dec but they released a "soft launch", which is full of "planned maintenances" that doesn't even tell us when those maintenances are going to happen.

Question: What do I select if my parents are separated and do not live together? Do I select yes for married or do I select no?
There should be a box for you to check the “separated” status, if there isn’t a box to check then there should be a place for you to write “separated” then you only fill in the income of one parent, and it should be the parent that has provided you the most financial support out of the year, most likely the parent you live with, (or you can choose the parent that makes the least amount of money which would be the most beneficial for you on your FAFSA 🤫) hope this helps!
I WISH i found this video b4 i filled up the FAFSA.. I ( parent) initially have to enter manually the tax info ( was surprised cos last yr i used the IRS retrieval tool) then i realized I first have to CONSENT. Then when I return back to the form it looks different but never realized anything wrong, submitted. QUESTION: Can I make a correction in the IRS info after FAFSA was processed? How do I know if they use the retrieval tool? I want the IRS retrieval tool to load, it was SILENT ( did not state info from IRS and NOT redirected to IRS WEBSITE) while I was initially filling it up. So now I’m doubting that my info was loaded from the irs. ty!

QUESTION: I have completed my end of FAFSA. I invited my mom since she is filled joint tax, but it was asking for my dads info at the parent side and i skipped it and signed. Now the financials section doesnt have a green check mark and it says "in progress" and now "in review", so im confused if i did it incorrectly and if this is considered incomplete? I hope someone can answer my question

When I was filling this out for my daughter, I got to the point where it asked if parents were married and I selected "yes" and it never asked me to fill out information for my husband or invite him. Now I feel like I'm stuck and I can't progress on the FAFSA form. I've tried calling customer service through student aid but the lady I spoke with was completely hostile the whole time with me on the phone and extremely rude.
I also selected married and didn’t let me invite my husband to enter information. But when the student is filling out the invite it says on top that only one parent can also fill out the form. I guess this happens if you filed you taxes as a “married filing jointly” since the information is the same.
