In this webinar we walk you through completing the Fafsa form for next years 2024/2025 academic year. This Fafsa form guide is to help the parent's that are married or remarried complete the form.
Free Application for Federal Student Aid
Before each year of college, apply for federal grants, work-study, and loans with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) form. Your college uses your FAFSA data to determine your federal aid eligibility. Many states and colleges use FAFSA data to award their own aid.
The FSA ID allows students and parents to identify themselves electronically to access Federal Student Aid websites. An FSA ID is made up of a username and password and can be used to log into the online Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) form.
"The FAFSA becomes available on October 1, and some schools award financial aid on a first-come, first-served basis. That's why it's so important for families to fill out the FAFSA as soon as it becomes available - because it increases the likelihood a family will receive an aid amount they are comfortable with.
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid is a form completed by current and prospective college students in the United States to determine their eligibility for student financial aid. The FAFSA is different than CSS Profile, which is also required by some colleges.
Student financial aid in the United States is funding that is available exclusively to students attending a post-secondary educational institution in the United States. This funding is used to assist in covering the many costs incurred in the pursuit of post-secondary education.

I went to school to get help they just have me the hotline for fafsa, fafsa would just end the call bc the lines were busy nothing was helping after two weeks of going back and forth this simple 30 min video saved me
They never asked for my parents tax information for 2022, they asked for mine, which makes 0 sense because I have no income or taxes.
Bro same and then I double checks all the question and it submitted it self without my signature so now it says o have to wait till March. Thx fasfa:)

Great info. Idk if anyone else rand into this, but I went through the whole process and then when trying to go to signature and sumbit, it just kept looping back to the beginning.

Thank goodness you covered financials. FASFA hotline is nearly impossible to get a hold of.
Hi Ed your video are clear and to the point. Quick question, the new fafsa does it need both parents to sign with two separate fafsa id's or only needs one parent signature
When completing the FAFSA application I didn't finish it and when I when back I couldn't double check the answers, so what do I do know, I haven't signed it or do my parents portion, I need help, please! Thank you in advance for all that you do for us! God Bless!

Thanks for making this video! If parents are married and file joint taxes, does it matter which parent creates the FSA ID? Does it have to be the parent who contributes more to the household income, or does it not matter since it is joint? Thanks!

What does it mean when there’s a message that form is in review. I had an issue logging in and had to create a new account, which I did on January 24, 2024. Apparently there was an issue with this earlier in the month because I tried several times since my son completed his portion on 1/04/24. I’m so confused. Tia

THis was GREATTTTTT !!!! Butttt my son filled out his student application and sent invites to both me and husband,,,, your video says not to do that... Will that be an issue? About to log in to my portion of it.
Question: Two kids. (1) Highschool: 2nd year (2) College 2nd year
Both parents live and work in GA. If father (more income) has to live and work in TX 2025 onwards , but mother continue (less income) to work in GA. are children treated as in state GA ?

Amazing review.... so frustrating FAFSA should change wording so you don't have to watch a video to fill out the form correctly. So many students invite both parents and it caused alot of issues
I received the email with the link to my sons acct. I already had a fafsa ID. The link would take me straight to my acct and there was nothing about his app in my acct. We tried to go back into his acct to check the Info he entered... it's "under review" and can't get to the the application. That was 2.5 months ago. Still locked and under review?!
My daughter invited us before we to create our account and filled out her part and signed. She finished our part too but we aren’t allowed to sign until to create our account. We finally created our account after 25 days trying. Because we don’t have a SSN we needed to call them to verify our ID, we did , and They sent a email to us with a form to sign and send back with a ID. We sent back everything to them on same day, and our account still pending.
After these delays, my big concern is: Do you think is going to match, my daughter put De Souza as my last name when she was filling my part on her form. And I put Desouza when I created my account.

Hi how do we go about filling out the FASFA if you are student that is on Disability?
I have the question.Does the spouse or the partner have to bI have the question. Does the spouse or the partner have To accept the invitation 2 in order to complete the contributor.?
Is there any reason to not provide consent and approval.. it's just federal aid.. right..not private school aid. I'm paranoid because it also doesn't show anything after you provide consent and approval.
What happens if you started as a parent instead of a student (which I did ) and now I am having. So much trouble. And I have messed other things up. Need so much help. Thanks
Thank you so much! First time FAFSA parents. We have attended several zoom meetings and have researched info (how I found you.) You are the first person to emphasize that we must complete the student info first. That was our mistake. ugh! Now, do we delete the info and reenter?

Hi Ed. On the Student Asset Section (vid minute 22.05), If the Student has no business, accounts or asset of any kind, should she leave those boxes blank as you did or simply enter "0" ??

I am a non citizen parent and a contributor on my child's FAFSA Form. I have received the invite and also have an FSA ID. Email id is verified but after i enter the code for phone verification and press continue.. We are getting an unknown error has occurred and choose another browser. Hi Ed, you mentioned something in the video at 21:49 You say that we don't want this to be happening...but it is, this is the part of the process we are caught up on right now but wasn't sure if we should add the tax info manually if the student's tax forms were never submitted to begin with?
The social security number is what pulls the IRS information you don’t need to enter it manually
Thank you very much! I have an urgent question and need your help ASAP. My kid started an application but has not signed and submitted for now yet. Me as a parent received an email invitation and started filling in parents information before the kid sign and submit form. Me as a parent have not signed and submitted the FAFSA form either. Can my kid still sign and submit the form after the parent already started filling in parents' side info into the form? What will happen to the form submission? What should we do now? What is the deal with the free or reduced lunch? My whole district gets free lunch this school year, we didn't have to summit an application. Should we check the box?
You can check the box if you receive free lunch through the free and reduced lunch application. This is the only option that will not bypass the parent assets page so it doesn’t matter in long run if you get free lunch or not.
Now what? Colleges not getting FAFSA till mid March? Financial packages not till April? Have to decide by May1st? My thinking is June 1 could be the new May 1 for decision day.

Only one parent is necessary. parent account is for signing

Most likely a server problem, the website has had tons of bugs since it launched for this academic year
