So happy to finally be back! After graduating 3 weeks ago, I'm ready to spend my gap year working on several huge new videos, from an analysis of Disney theme park techniques in Zelda: Breath of the Wild to finishing my short film, Paradoxical. Who's your favorite Spider-Verse, uh, Spider-Person? Lemme know below. If you liked the video, consider sharing with somebody who might also enjoy it!

Buddy where did you find the time to make all these actually amazing videos in high school, I’m even more blown away now than I was before, even in college I don’t have the time to make any videos I’d be proud of, lol
Also Spider-Noir was the BEST ONE, all of them were amazing though, they could all easily be my favorite depending on the day. I have a real soft spot for Noir though.

I think the Emoji Movie was practice. Every scene looked like the practice animations I was assigned in college (Computer Animation Major). The characters were even the simple, rounded shapes that beginners are encouraged to start with. The plot was nothing more than a series of sponsored ads with a bare minimum of "non-ad" footage. They released a full movie of practice animation and... got paid for it!

I love the main three characters for different reasons. Gwen's combat and overall presentation was great, her back story was short but impactful, and I want to see more of her. Peter B. Parker made me cry for the first time in years and he embodied the fears I have as a young adult starting my life: "How do I know I won't mess it up again." And Miles was also incredibly relatable, feeling like there was so much expected of him, what if what made him happy meant he didn't live up to the "Great expectations." The way he mumbled lyrics he didn't know was perfect, the expressions of him handling emotions were tough to watch, and the barrage of family member quotes in his head as he made the leap was... well I don't know how to phrase it right, but I've been there (in my own small, non-spiderman way).

I absolutely love the animation of spider verse for just more than the reasons you mentioned, like:
    - the differing art styles between the different spider... people? Peni and porker have cel shading, noir consistently has dotted screentones for his shading and usually relies on highlights rather than shadows to define his shape (adding to the overall moodiness of his character design), etc.
    - the chromatic aberration, especially when playing with camera focus and how it differs in color for the characters (ex. Miles has a green and magenta offset, while the og Peter Parker has the classic red and blue)
And so much more that I didn’t mention! All of the tiny details that went into this movie’s visuals are insane! Also, the sound design. Ohhhh that sweet sound design just tied it all together.

Not only was this an amazingly well done movie, but the character development was insanely incredible as well. Even the characters that we didn’t get to really meet, like an old friend of miles, or even Aaron (who we didn’t really get to know), it’s almost like we met the character, it’s like we knew them like miles did. And the characters that we did get to meet, we knew them, they were our friends.
The way all of the characters are portrayed is just amazing. They all act their age as well, which is a very important factor. And on top of that, the storyline is literal gold. I really love this movie.

Strained relationships, feeling in your element one minute and then feeling out of place the next, everything being too much and too fast, your own thoughts at a such a high volume you're not sure what you've said out loud or not. This young man, who is spider-man, is also just that - a young man. And to see a movie that was so visually beautiful but so extremely human... I can't describe it without my own video! Years later and I’m still watching new takes and perspectives on this movie. Ironically that also reflects the different takes on Spiderman that ITSV builds on

Man, what a great video. Thanks for some new ideas. I've been watching anything Spider-Verse related and you had some fresh stuff I haven't heard yet. Great job.

    Animation isn't a genre. It's a way of telling a story.

Great video. Always happy to dive back into Spider-Verse because there is so much to discover in there. It's one of those pieces of art you can enjoy countless times and still find something new every time. And I enjoyed the analysis of how it compares and contrasts with other animated movies.

Great video man-stands out from your average video essay. Keep up the good work, there's a channel's worth of videos I gotta start watching.
