  • Woolpower is a local company for me. And having an outlet shop of Woolpower clothing that has undetectable fails on them, or even just have been washed to see how the fabric reacts to it, makes it easy for me to buy them.
    What I payed:
    200 Long Johns Military - 199sek
    200 Zip Top - 300sek
    400 Long Johns - 660sek
    600 Jacket - 1140sek
    The socks came for free. Pretty good, if you check the regular prices.

    Very informative. Will not be getting WP 600 now as strangely enough I want something that's very warm and durable, but based on your view and the comments, it will not last long if used regularly. Will be looking at Devold clothing though, looks very warm and well made.
    Doggo btw enhanced the video! Thank you for taking the time to do this video, brother!

    Interesting that the military tops have thumb loops. I generally look for tops with thumb loops and sew them up so I have a regular cuff and sleeves that are long enough, as most tops have sleeves that are way too short.

    • @philippbergau5868
      @philippbergau5868  Рік тому

      Good idea. I don't use the thumb loops, since they restrict blood flow. I do agree that it's great to have the longer sleeve. Downside for me... they get destroyed rather fast. A year in and I just have shredded sleeve ends, all the time.

    I think you meant to say polyamide (nylon) not polyester because most Woolpower garments don’t contain polyester except their 200 gsm line. I enjoy their LITE, 400 and 600 garments!

    Great review! Thanks. I still wear my grey color Woolpower 600 sweater with 3/4 zip, that they don't make any more. I've got that one for about 12 years now! Very good quality and warming features!

      @@philippbergau5868 bro, I work in construction business, most of the time when you lay on your belly to reach something, sooner or later, rather sooner, zipper starts to jam and goes out of order. Especially as sissy one as on Woolpower 600. Also zipper hates when it's very cold and you're tucking the sweater into the pants. That might sound quite a redneck option, but it helps... WP should use something more of a heavy duty (YKK alike). Cheers!

    Nice video, just recently heard about woolpower, they seem to make good stuff ! Would you say the woolpower 200 is warm enough to gain a few °C. I am being a bit cold in my quilt below 5 and I am looking for a wool layer that would be warm enough !

    • @philippbergau5868
      @philippbergau5868  6 місяців тому +1

      Hej. Thanks. Hmmm, tough question. But if you wanna primarily want to use it as a resting layer, then the lighter and loftier, the better. The light first layer then 200 over is my regular choice. Although I swap the light to Aclimas Woolnet. But if you want to increase the warmth of your sleeping bag, maybe check Sea to Summit Reactor inner liners. Always wanted to buy one. Otherwise in terms of pure heat to weight you might be better off with polarfleece sweatpants. And they will do that, since polyester doesn't breathe as well 😜

    I have some Woolpower clothes (200,400 and 600), but to be honest they don't appear warm to me at all. It is of terrible quality as well, it pills up within a week and holes form by just looking at it. Never again for me.

    • @philippbergau5868
      @philippbergau5868  10 місяців тому

      Thank you for your input. But what would be working for you, though? Only pointing out flaws doesn't give anyone context as to what you're doing and what would be a better product to use.
      As to the holes. I'm wearing Aclima, Devold and Woolpower. All fall apart. Whether they are woven tight, or lose. They all do. Sweaters usually hold up longer. But everything underneath has a shelf life of 2 years max, cause I wear them in small rotation every day working.
      Warmth. Well... as I said, the 600 doesn't do much, as it is heavy and doesn't trap air well. But 200 in particular works well. So I'd be curious to know what you would call a better product for warmth.

    What’s the sizing like. I’m in between small and medium.

    • @philippbergau5868
      @philippbergau5868  Рік тому +1

      Depends on how tight you want things to be and which layer. I wear small on the lite version, medium at 200/400 and Large for 600.

  • @theflobro96

    What do you think of sizing? I want to get a 200 and a 400. Should the 400 be the same size as the 200 or a size bigger?

    • @philippbergau5868
      @philippbergau5868  Рік тому +1

      Hej. If you wanna double up, then yes, take a Size up. Due to the loft they are stretching quite well, but they also stick to eachother. The less restrictions the more airpocket you'll have.

    Can buy in Germany but not the Netherlands, too bad. Maybe in the future, anyways Im planning a 10 day kayak trip to either Norway or Sweden somewhere next spring, maybe you can give some advice? how should I cloth and how warm more or less should my sleeping gear be? Planning to go arround may. Here in the Netherlands it hardy freezes around that time, reading and watching only provides so much info. Can you still get below -5 around that time of year?

    • @philippbergau5868

      it depends tremendously on where you are going. closer to the mountains, in the north, you'll have cold nights and a bunch of snow still. do you have a general idea where you wanna go?
      here in Åre/Storlien you would have snow until mid may to proper ski on, then it usually turns with great warm days, but cold nights.

      here is a good history on temperature. yr is great, but those statistics only exist for Norwegian regions there.

      @@philippbergau5868 Thanks for the link and info, I had to look up where that is, actually not far away from where im looking around. I was thinking of paddling storsjon, a friend lives in valbo and another lives in the middle of nowhere near Sveg I think it is.
      Will visit hopefully both.
      So looking everything up its the biggest body of water around and I found theres an airport there. Initially I was thinking about kayaking siljan but havent been able to find an airport there so that would take a bit too much time away.
      But not sure yet timewise, id like to visit them both, and since its sort of between them. Well it will be around and between that area is what my general idea is atm

      you can fly to Östersund, of course. but if you wanna go siljan, you can easily fly to Stockholm and take the train straight to Mora. even with a lot of stuff, no-one will ever tell you to go away. Its Sweden :P I travelled with my big dog, a pair of skis, a 130liter backpack and 2 boxes on a rolling board from Berlin to Mora via train, bus and ferry. no-one said anything ;)
