Just finished this book. It is excellent with a lot of honesty about how he changed his whole outlook on life. I would really recommend it.
If anyone has not seen Cameron's interview from yesterday, (there are two clips) please watch it. It is raw, emotional, and inspirational all at once. I am happy also that 'The View' had Michael today, as I love him as an actor, but to also sort of bring Cameron's interview full circle. Glad this was done the way it was.
A firm believer in “tell me who you hang around with and I’ll tell you who you are!”
Laura Rodriguez me too
Me too x
Wow, in the first photo, Cameron, looks like a clone of his father. Deep subject! Wishing Cameron a lifetime of sobriety, peace & happiness. 5 years sobriety, keep fighting the good fight.
Having been a Mother of a recovering son~my heart always goes out to a fellow parent..the heartaches, sleepless nights, and yet-- recovery. Its a process, but Cameron in his bravery, Michael also will tell us a story to help others..
The older he gets the more he looks just like his Dad!
Yes, I've thought the same thing.
I was going to post this exact thing!
David Lopez Yes but he has aged terribly as compared to Kirk. Kirk looked great all thru his 70’s.
@@MTknitter22 He had cancer. That ages you fast.
True. Michael looks like Kirk and Cameron like Mike.
The Douglases not only look alike, they SOUND alike!
This is why Al-Anon is so important for family members to learn on how to work on their own recovery
100%
Yes thank you so much for pointing this out
hope he continues to do well the son
Stay strong my friend. your little daughter means the world to you do it for her stay positive.
For all those people bashing his looks and his speech. Guys, he had tongue cancer. I would like to see how you would talk after that. He is very lucky to be alive as we are. Also he isn't that young. People age and it shows. As we all will age. If we are lucky. Little empathy, people. 🥰
People are not people these days, they are evil entities.
The Douglas men have VERY strong genes!!! He looks SOOO MUCH Older than my Mother and Father!!! God BLESS!!!
I think he looks good. He is in his 70s, we all age!
Yes, a nightmare is a perfect description. I try to look back and wonder if I could have done something... I just don't know
Michael Douglas is a great actor, watch the movie falling down....it is so good!
Victoria Juergens-Renfro oh yeah i loved that movie👍🏽
So fond of Michael Douglas
GREAT MAN ! He looks amazing!
Those Douglas genes are strong!
The Kominsky method is fuxking amazing
Disagree that addiction is a physiological disease. It’s an emotional longing that manifests as physiological craving. Calling it a disease is a get out of jail free card. No one has to take responsibility.
A A great comment. An emotional longing yes. Addiction begins with pain and if it is not controlled or cured, ends in pain.
It's a disease, because it changes the brain. I think it's much more complex, because, why is it so difficult to heal, even if the person who is addicted wanted to get off drugs? And why are so many people in America addicted?
No. It is physical and emotional thing. It is disease, but that doesn't mean person doesn't have to take responsibility of their actions.
@@destinychild4659 I stand by my claim that’s it’s not an medical illness or disease. (I went to medical school and have worked in social medicine for @ long time). the medical pharma corporate industrial complex loves to sell it as a disease so people remain victims and a slave to the medical system and corporate power/money. ✌🏽.
Tough love..it's hard but necessary. 16 years with my son. Tragic.
Is his father Kirk still around? Must be in his 90s/100s. Loved him in Spartacus!! Legendary.
103 and still kicking. Micheal is 75 and still has his Dad around crazy.
Wow- what a hard hard battle that is. I wish them all the best. Michael Douglas really looks and sounds very different there than I remember him.
God bless you, finally a really good reply. Thank you!!!!!
The drug culture mixed with technology like violent video games, was something the Atari generation could never have seen coming.
Nonsense, it's a human issue not taken into consideration or dealt with responsibility. US is such a country that rules by contrast and means in capital. Nothing good will come out of those 'quick fix' solutions.
Cameron looks like the love child of Michael Douglas and U2's Bono! This is not an insult, he's definately got his families good looks and voice.
he is very handsome hope the Son recovers
Douglas men are truly classy classic decent men. The book can shed light 💡 on how solitary federal confinement affects meth addiction and treatment.
They are all drug abusers. Nothing decent about that.
@@JaIch9999 Which can happen to anyone. Anyone you know. 🙄
“I’m not going to be IGNUUURED”
That was Jack Nicholson
@@MsRESPECT90 It was Glenn Close dear.
@@MsRESPECT90 Jack Nicholson??? 🙄
Just watched Fatal Attraction for the first time a couple days ago, great movie

Carl Creighton Go for Basic Instinct next!!
He is good but his DAD is the man.
😎CARL YOU MUST BE VERY YOUNG OR WASN'T BORN YET😜LOL😜I'M JUST OLD!!!💃🎵🏃
@NewLife51 😎
😜LOL😜YOU'RE OLD ALSO?!?!
I can attest to the fact that to this day he would wake up in the middle of the night drenched in sweat craving 'one last hit'. His dad is pretty smart making him take such a public approach to it, so that just makes him be a lot more responsible about his future now. I hope he can live the rest of his life sober, he would be 1/110 people. That's quite something no matter if he is from Hollywood or Virginia !
What a genes this Douglas family is having...
Drug abuse is in the genes.....
@@JaIch9999 Maybe. But lots of people in entertainment business have addictions. And it isn't just them. Normal people have them, too.
Very honest man
I told my kids 18 is just a number I still leasing to my parents
Lol. That's pretty awesome.
What a family. Strength and substance
Strength? They are all drug abusers. Nothing strong about that.
Ja Ich In recovery. I am 40 years clean and let me tell you I have respect for those who choose recovery. It is not easy, perhaps you need to try to understand a bit more and perhaps do research. Your comments seem extremely judgmental to me, without much insight.
I think it's especially a problem of actors of stars in the entertainment industry. I think there is a lot of pressure. Hollywood is dangerous. It's not only in this family. Many stars, musicians and actors are confronted with this problem.
@@JaIch9999 I feel the same, you are very judgmental. I have great respect, if someone is able to solve like Cameron his drug problem, the underlying issues, and turn your life around without any help. The book is by the way brilliant, well written, you can really follow the emotional path that leads into the wrong direction. Many young people are confronted in schools, there are drugs, and they want to fit in. It will help a lot of mothers and fathers who have teenage children.
Oh no megan is back geez it was so nice listening to the View without her
I love Meghan hair style. It’s beautiful.

It's the only disease you can spend 7 years in jail for catching.
He's slurring his words, but considering he had Stage IV tongue cancer he sounds pretty good.
Dentures as well
He sounds amazing considering cancer, age. When we age, our voice can change.
Romancing the Stone part 5 !!
I hate the View and what is up with Whoopi and the hair? But I like Michael Douglas and understand his struggles with his son.
son's addiction must be tuff for ya mike
Love this dude. But, he got on the show saying the federal government needs to step in and regulate thc. Hello?! If the thc is to high, dispensaries carry marijuana with lower thc percentages. Buy flower with a lower thc count, problem solved.
Dads and Sons WOW he sounds like Matt Dylan
The parents are blame but that's not always true, you can speak to them advice them but you can't keep them from going out and know the wrong and falling in addiction and all you can do is pray have faith and help in everyway you can..it doesn't matter your race, money etc,it impact your family, its hurting its horrible even worse when theres a lost to death. Great dad ,to never give up on his son..🙏
M A I totally agree with you....addiction is a very serious issue....was very happy to see dad supporting his son.
I agree with every sentence you wrote. Teenager like to do the opposite what you tell them. The peer group is more important as the family. Somebody told me you really learn how to pray if you have teenager. It's not only their friends, it's the driving, it's there way of dealing with things, they think that they are invincible.
thc doesnt kill you
i like Benicio del Toro's character in the movie Traffic.
i don't have time for Michael Douglas' son's BS, tbh.
I'm like you. I've never felt sorry for Cameron. Everyone can always say no to drugs.
@@donnabrown1125 Unfortunately it isn't that simple. If it was nobody would be an addict.
@@donnabrown1125 Then it would be easy. The US is healed, all the people have to say just no to drugs! It's actually not easy and a struggle your whole life. It's a complex problem of a person who needs a lot of help, support and it still will be hard. A lot of people who are on drugs are doing suicide. I have great respect if people can solve their addiction problems. Did you read his book? It's actually well written, exciting, honest and quite excellent. It will help a lot of American families. It gives a really good insight of the mind set of a young man, who is struggling psychologically and tries to fit in the peer group. Exactly the problem of the teenager our generation.
Focusing better:Michael seems a bit strange here...he probably took drugs or alcohol before this interview!!!
Miguel Anselmo he’s drunk *slurring words* (disease schemease) Their environment and their lifestyle 🙄 #allowanceswithoutworkingdonotwork

Throat cancer and tongue cancer
So much hatred. 🙄🙄🙄 Guy had cancer.

Sicilian Gecko Good god girl, get a grip!!

His voice ...he's slurring words, not dramatically but one wonders is it age or something else.
He battled tongue cancer.
A lot of partying entitled rich offspring are and have been directly or indirectly responsible for untellable amounts of crime and human trafficking.
Not only entitled rich offspring - there are are other humans responsible for those crimes as well! You just hear from the entitled rich people more news.
Why didn't you guys mention Rep. Cummings today? He's the first African-American to ly in repose at the Capital, .
Because of the time the show is recorded!
One of the biggest slow killers is addiction.
Not so slow, an overdose, and one is gone. Does not matter if you are 18, 25, 33 overdose and your dead.
Balance comes from an apple that doesn’t fall from a tree!!!! He wouldn’t have been in prison if you embraced your son & broke the path! Forget the excuses you didn’t fight!!!! You never stood up for your son!!!! Blame it on 18...... it wouldn’t have happened if you would of taken care from the gate! The view is BS BTW!!!! Now your talking about vamping???? FU MD
It's not his father's fault. He couldn't do anything to prevent everything. iI only can come from any insight of his son'
s heart.
People have addictions, who come from happy families, too. People think it's so black and white, when it isn't.
Sounds like he was a terrible father. Having your child in the middle of drugs galore. Self centred scumbag.

Speech slurs sometimes?
Drug and alcohal addiction is not a disease. It's a choice.
Very true
It's not that simple. I have seen many people struggle with it. It is a choice and disease at the same time.
Not only the wealthy suffer, but you have to be wealthy or dirt poor (medical qualified) to get help. Pathetic coverage of an important subject.
The problem is not if you are rich or poor. The problem is our medical system. America is a first world country and has the worst medical system. Why is health insurance not available for average income people? Why are surgeries, ER so expensive? Why are rehabs so expensive. It should be fee. Health care is a business in the States.
Hi, I am gay actor Michael Douglas.

Mike Carter nope - cuz Michael is a fellow lib/Democrat who shares Democrat party morals.
@Exit Light The man is 75 years old. He's probably on a slew of medications. To his benefit, his thought process is clear and he's completely awake, alert and oriented. He answers each question thoughtfully. What more do you want?! Jumping jacks and cartwheels?

Oral cancer and age!

Is w Goldberg in UK House of lords in parliament
Michael Douglas' voice sounds shaky, almost as if he's on
some drug or alcohol. I hope he's not; maybe it's just a drug
for some "condition" he has.
He almost died of tongue cancer. Also he is older. But I think it's cancer that changed his voice. I don't see him drunk at all. I think he has learned his lesson.

@@lindawilliams429 But it's an excellent book, and not everybody can write such a great book. Don't judge and don't think it can't happen to you! People with addiction problems need help and support, especially when they are young.
Everybody can get addicted, no matter if someone is getting love, care, help, no matter what color or age, no matter if rich or poor. Look how many actors and musicians, they had everything and still developed an addiction.
