I think the screams are getting better, but I was really looking forward to the clean section at the end. P3 was my first exposure to Periphery and Spencer's vocals in the end were more beautiful than I expected from metal. You nailed it! I like how you sang the "slip between the night and day" a little lower.
Thank you so much!! Funny story, I had my computer open to every comment that mentioned Flatline to post the link and was gonna respond to your comment from a few months back but just hadn’t gotten around to it yet 😂 thank you for watching 🩵
@kaylenebarber lol no worries eh, just glad ur doing all my fav songs lol!! Keep it up, great work!! Also I saw ur band is playing with Red Handed Denial, I used to promote shows around Toronto and had them out once or twice, they r all amazing people, Tyson their drummer is a super cool guy
Amazing!!!! Great to hear you back with another cover! And P3!! This song means a lot to me (I have a lot of health issues) and I really enjoyed your rendition!
Same and same! This song really hits home for me for a lot of reasons. Thank you so much for watching, I’m glad you liked it! And I wish you the best in your health journey 🩵
Love this song! You did a great job with this cover :) If you do more periphery, could you do Jetpacks was yes, All New Materials, Erised, or Mile Zero? Have a great day!
Do you record the vocals before recording the video? Just was wondering that if the take we see is the one we hear how do you monitor yourself since you don’t have headphones?
Yeah I record audio and video separately. I stopped wearing headphones in my videos because it occurred to me that I may have been deceiving people. On Saturday, I did a 4 hour livestream while tracking vocals for Reptile and also made a much shorter “highlights” version, if you want to check that out it’ll help explain why I (and many other vocalists) do audio and video separately!
Great work, as usual, but I have to say I wasn't a big fan of the mix. The music is a tad too loud, too much reverb on it and the drum part had some snare hits that were kind of out of place. Not to take away anything from the effort put into it! Just think it could benefit from a bit more polish.
@@MassholeDrumssend me or Olas an Instagram message! Info should be in description. @@kaylenebarber do you want video too or just midi? I can probably put it together in a week or 2, or a week if you just want midi but I'd be glad too! and tbh as soon as I saw this cover, I regretted not offering to do the drums beforehand LOL I assumed it was too late but I'm glad it isn't. Before it's too late as well, if you ever end up wanting to do 22 faces, I can help lol
@@therealgtarbeast666 what do you use for drum programming? I guess another option is I could send you individual raw tracks from my GGD setup so that you'd be able to mix it the same way pretty much as real drums, and since I use Matt's signature P4 kit, it would sound pretty accurate too. I'll quantize it before hand too so you won't have to worry about the drums not being perfectly in time If you want to hear my GGD kit - ua-cam.com/video/i50Ef7nGOGQ/v-deo.html&ab_channel=MassholeDrums It's unlisted because its also being used for a full band cover, wanted that to come out first and I'm gonna redo the mix anyways
Clearly a very talented singer, but I feel like a key component missing from your vocals is a sense of emotional authenticity to the screaming sections. Even with just the audio it’s easy to tell the screaming is done with a monotone facial expression and without genuine emotion, it makes the performance feel halfhearted and detached and prevents the listener from feeling the full effects of what should be a very intense display of passionate fury
You have a keen ear! I’ve been singing for 18 years, but am relatively new to screaming. I’m very much technique focused at this point with my screams; my singing was the same way when I first started. I’ve come a long way in a year with screaming but am still nowhere near where I want to be. Thank you for watching my cover 🩵
The Flatline outro is my all-time favourite, the whole song feels like a build up just to that part for me - you nailed it!
Right!?
The wax wings one is a banger too

Seeing a new cover from you popping up in my YT feed is always such a gift! Good job Kaylene, Flatline is one of my alltime favs, killed it as always
Thank you so much!! It makes me happy to know you had that reaction! 🩵
Duuuude, this one is off the rails !! Thanks for doing Catch Fire btw, I was hoping for that one :)

Thank you so much! I definitely have some of these on the list! 😊
The clean is sounding great! But extreme parts are 'in the face' to much
💯
Was waiting for stream to finish so I could right over :P
Thanks for hanging out on the stream! ☺️🩵

Yea I know this song almost note for note on drums and can confirm what Matt plays is different. I'll have a cover it done in the next month or 2
@@MassholeDrumssend me the midi and I’ll fix it lol I barely know what a guitar is legally.
