There's good evidence that "J. Savari" was a Parisian clarinetist/saxophoneist Jérome Savari (1819-1870) - there's a biography of him at a blog post called "Looking for Savari". (Used to be misattributed to a bassoonist Jean Savary of a generation earlier)
