I've come back to this video so many times. Perfectly soft spoken voice talking about my favorite friend-shaped little guys. It sends me right to sleep.

AHHHHH! I'm so excited about this!
I've been waiting for this. I'm playing a kobold battlemaster in my current campaign.
Thanks for taking your time for these. They are the perfect blend of ASMR and nerdiness. :)

Before I settled for a Dwarf I briefly considered a Goblin fighter and I absolutely see how a Kobold battlemaster would be fun to play. I'm here for 'monsters' becoming playable races!

@@SulkyKarris My character isn't the the typical kobold, but most adventurers are very different that the standard for their race.
For me I think humans and demi humans tend to have a venn diagram of mindset. And most of it lines up, but there are still things that looked at differently. For example Humans and Elves tend to have different views on whether it's OK to cut down a forest to house a displaced village. Or long term vs short term planning.
For monsters, I think the overlap is smaller. But having a point where both parties can agree or understand each other makes for much interesting interactions between party members and the monsters.
We are running rime of the frost maiden, so my Kobold is adventuring with party after the PCs allied with tribe. He wants his tribe to be strong, and if the town above is wealthy and gives food and can supply his tribe then it is best for him to work together.
On the other hand, we recently had to interrupt a wedding and we had quite a long in character conversation cause he couldn't understand the concept of marriage and choosing only one mate. It was a chance for me to show that somethings just don't match up.
Aberrations on the other hand have completely alien mindsets for the most part. Either there goals can't be understood or run completely against what humans understand as right and good. I use those when I want something that can be just fought without moral issue.

Older editions of D&D went back and forth on whether kobolds were "dog-like" or "lizard-like" (or some unholy combination of both; there was also one brief detour into "just like goblins, but weaker"). The _Baldur's Gate_ series of CRPGs notably depicted dog-like kobolds, for example. And several non-D&D sources feature dog-like kobolds, including World of Warcraft, and most anime. But WotC went all-in on lizard-like kobolds when they took over D&D from TSR, and even threw in a connection to dragons; so D&D kobolds have officially been "tiny dragon-men" since about 2000, when 3e was published.
And of course, _no_ version of D&D kobolds particularly resembles kobolds in folklore.
