Download .bin file onto jump drive.
1. Unplug the TV power cord
2. Insert the USB flash drive into the Photoviewer/service slot located on the back of the TV.
3. Plug in the TV power cord. Turn on the TV and the update process should start automatically.
So it seems like they want you to "boot" the TV from the USB just like you would a computer. Unplugging the TV before you do so, allows any ROM to clear; just like a computer.
Then the instructions show that you will see a series of 3 screens that basically say what step the upgrade process is on . The process is supposed to take less than 5 minutes.
4. Remove the USB device when "Completed" is displayed (power button will not work).
5. To restart the TV, unplug the TV power cord and then plug it in again.
6. Press the Power button on the TV or remote control to turn the TV on.
Then there is another piece of paper that says Troubleshooting. It says:
If the Update process does not start as shown on the previous page
- Remove USB Device
- Unplug the power cord, wait 5 secs and plug it in again
- insert USB flash device, wait 5 secs. Don't turn on TV
- unplug the power cord and plug it in again
- Tuen on TV, update should start. If not, unplug the USB device then wait until the TV picture appears and follow the steps below. It is possible that the "quick Start-up" feature is tuned on.
Press the menu button
navigate to "initial setup"
press enter
navigate to "quick start up"
select Off
press menu button when finished
Turn off TV and repeat the six steps from the very begining.
If update process still does not start please call the customer care center.
If you TV shows Progress 1/3 for more than 10 minutes of if you see any message saying "software update error" please call the customer care center for further info.
You did not tell us where to get the firmware or software that we will load in the USB then plug to TV

Pleasant day to you. Is there a way to access the service menu for the JVC Genessa LT42E478 without the remote controller? The last technician who claimed could fix the tv lost the remote and never fixed the tv. I shipped in my own parts and got it running, but the HDMI ports do not work at all. I have been reading that there is a light sensor at the back interior of this tv that shuts the HDMI ports off when the panel is removed. And it needs to be turned on again via the Service Menu. I have no other firmware for any other tvs. Sorry. If you cannot find the firmware off their site, a new board would fix it.

I have the JVC 47" Android smart tv, when switched on, it goes straight to AV input, the smart screen logo at the bottom right stays on the screen and the tv is unresponsive to any input, remote control or physical buttons. It can only switched off using the physical switch at the the back of the tv. The smart tv, android interface is totally unaccessible.
If i get the firmware and perform this procedure will it reset the tv to its factory state? If not how can i achieve this?

I had the same problem with my JVC LT-37XM48. This worked for me if you still haven't figured it out.
1. First put the Tv on the Channel/Tuner INPUT.2. Now make sure to use the original JVC remote and the selector switch at the top is in the Tv mode.3.Press the sleep timer button one time, then press both the display
button and the video status button at the same time. Then press the
number 2 button for "Self Check".4. Then turn your tv off and unplug the it for full 2 minutes.5. Plug the Tv back in and turn on.6. Plug in your hdmi dvd player directly (bypass any sound systems).7. Switch the Tv to the Digital INPUT and turn on the dvd player.

There is a easier way just press the menu button with the down volume and switch off then count 1-10 then let go it will switch on and be on safe mode then quickly factory reset because it will start freezing so do it fast .....let me know

yo tengo el firmware para el 55".tienes el firmware de tu modelo? si lo consigues, conecta tu usb en el puerto que esta arriba del televisor, luego manteniendo precionado el boton de encendido, activas el switch de poder que esta a un lado del tv y automaticamente comenzara a hacer el upgrade del televisor.

mientras precionas el boton de encedido, acciona el switch de encendido principal, entrara a modo recovery, ahi buscas la opcion reset factory, tal vez se solucione, intentalo
