I love to hand spin fibers, but I'm not finding cheap wool! Granted I like it to be in roving form and not just a mat of wool. The last wool I bought was something like 50$ for 2lbs and it was Soo cool the lady I got it from labeled which critters it came from as in names! True. Nut as a nurse I have to say that there is the possibility that you Rio the wound open when you take it of. And that the adhesive can be a problem for the wound healing, sometimes allergic reactions in the wound and its surroundings. And I know there is a 5x5cm underneath. But if the wound is big or deep, infections can look around the corner. That's my professional opinion... but between me and you, outside my profession I am not that precise. I never disinfected the wounds of my children or me... some water or spit (mothersbaume lol), a kiss on it and that's that. If it bleeds to much a tissue with the first tape I could find... lol... they survived... ofcpurse we don't talk of things that needs stitches. But a cut or a wound on the knee from falling... rinsing with water and an kiss. Works always...
Hi Sandy . I love watching your videos. I see you struggle with spinning your hoof trim chute . I'd like to suggest you use a large paint brush and brush on some used tractor oil onto all the pivot points. This will make it move much easier for you, with less effort. You work hard enough ;)
Her trailer was bought to handle cattle. Sandi's was bought to handle sheep. Obviously a slight difference there in size of animal - so she should be able to get double sheep in the same trailer she carried cattle.
Love the content!! Make sure to clean your finger really good and use polysporin and wrap it up snugly. It really helps to heal fast! And please get some rest. Take care!
Even better than polysporin is tea tree oil. Wounds heal even faster. It doesn't smell great but it works well. It's so legendary in the Australian military. It was included in each soldier's first aid kit in WWII.
Loving this new format, Sandi. It's great, I think it really works. Concerning coffee shakes: I get them if I don't have enough caffeine and when I've had too much (doctor here, I live on it). I kind of forget how white their fur actually is, and how it doesn't last. Makes me think of my days in riding school, when we would get a white horse (I think in English they would be called grey, we have a specific word for them in my language) to ride and end up with a completely different colour. Then we would clean them at the end, get them all pretty and shiny, put them away, get their food and I swear they were dirty already by the time we left the stable. I honestly believe that white fur is a Nature mishap XD
We also shear about 8 weeks before lambing (once per year) and one distinct benefit we have found is that lambs are normally born with heavier birth weights. This clearly a big benefit as early losses are quite reduced as lambs born seem to have more get-up- and-go about them. After discussions about this with our vet we are agreed that a main reason seems to be that the ewes are less heat stressed by being overheated - less obvious panting when at rest. (Thick long fleeces and undercover housing on straw bedding for several weeks pre-lambing).
Maybe you should keep some Clif bars in the tractors for a snack? That's what I used when I was out pet sitting and couldn't stop for a meal. They are very filling and tasty too!
Holy moly, what a super vid! so interesting. Sure hope your finger doesn’t get infected. I trust you to take care of that but It making you a cup of tea and saying “ there, there” like the British do. British Columbia seems to have kept that response. people who scream that shearing is "traumatizing for the sheep!" should watch from about 7:06 to 8:57...yea thats the behavior of a terrified animals lol XD
I saw a video of a sheep that had escaped the farm and lived in the wild several years. The wool was so thick and heavy that it could barely move. It would have died if it hadn't been rescued and sheared. Shearing is necessary and humane. It's just too bad we aren't smart enough to market it efficiently
@@loro9385 Yeah I know about him :) I think they called him Shrek the sheep, shearing for sheep is important for their health... which is conveniently overlooked by folks who want something to scream about... we need to peel the sheeps!
I think it's more the need for the wool to grow continuously which we bred into modern sheep breeds. There are hair-sheep (not sure how they are called in English) who lose their wool naturally two times per year. And of course not all sheep farmers are responsible with their animals, there are very traumatising - for viewer AND animal - videos of brutally mutilated animals or there. Sheep, rabbits, geese... Not even including pelt farms 🙅🏻♀️

I'm impressed and proud if you Jess. Being an asset to your farm parents is priceless
Way ahead of other young ladies. And learning a lot. And what we see she works well with all she is asked!
Sounds like Sandi has trailer envy 🤣🤣🤣 “Her trailer is so much bigger than mine”
Her trailer was bought to handle cattle. Sandi's was bought to handle sheep. Obviously a slight difference there in size of animal - so she should be able to get double sheep in the same trailer she carried cattle.
@@julieenslow5915 correct. I am envious of both of their trailers
Jess is such a fun person. She's a gem. Goat is too funny. Love this mixed content video. You do such a great job.
It's always a great video
"You probably hear that annoying noise behind me? That's Dad." LOL 😆
Love the content!!
Make sure to clean your finger really good and use polysporin and wrap it up snugly. It really helps to heal fast!
And please get some rest.
Take care!
Rest? During harvest? I don't know a farmer that would have any idea what you are talking about.
Even better than polysporin is tea tree oil. Wounds heal even faster. It doesn't smell great but it works well. It's so legendary in the Australian military. It was included in each soldier's first aid kit in WWII.
Tell Daughter that "Buggie drivers need Snack paks."
Seeing Goat then and now is so sad. Makes me cry and think of all my puppies I have lost
I love how I spent my weekend sheering and the next video is sheering. Kinda funny to me.
Had to laugh a the antic's of Goat during shearing.
Holy moly, what a super vid! so interesting. Sure hope your finger doesn’t get infected. I trust you to take care of that but It making you a cup of tea and saying “ there, there” like the British do. British Columbia seems to have kept that response. We here in BC also say “ Shit, what a bummer. Need some BC pain relief?” 😌😏😏(Toker Joe)
Sandi, you look as if you need a booster tonic of some kind! Please look after yourself - you are so integral to the whole set up on your farm 😇
How you remember your name most days is amazing to me. You are constantly doing something. I love it when the sheep are sheared. So beautiful n white.
GOAT:. Greatest Of All Time... She definitely lives up to the hype!
I loved that the sheep all ones their heads up as if to get a cameo! Some of them just looked straight at the camera and posed (Vogue!!) LOL
I hope your finger isn't as bad as you fear.
Goat is so cute she looked so funny while she was sheared all you saw was long black skinny legs and pointed hooves. They have gloves out now that you wear so you can't cut yourself you really need to check them out. I hope your finger isn't too bad although it looks like it might be. You really have great friends and family !! You are so lucky
You should keep all of goats daughters for breeding-her confirmation seems perfect for a great all around sheep.
I loved watching Goat get into everything! What a personality, she has. ❤️
I loved this video. Especially when Goat was getting into trouble. You are so awesome Sandi.
So Kind and loving to your sheep. I look forward to your videos everyday. Keep posting. You make my day.
I love the video mix with everybody popping in and sharing different views of the farm. I have trailer envy also. But for moving people from house to house. You don’t know how much stuff you have til you have to move it😃! Charlie did a great job sheering and he seems to be getting more comfortable with Sandy filming. The antics of Goat were hilarious 😆! Thank you Sandy and I hope you did get some rest 💗🤗!
I lived in a rural community in Nova Scotia but moved to Manitoba for the military. I had a favorite cow who from her being a calf would cuddle with me out in the field. I miss Daisy
WOW! your closing in on 200K WTG! that's awesome and very well deserved! while you were trimming hoofs, I was afraid that your little accident would happen on screen..... so I was looking away in the anticipating you screaming ouch! lol great video love the family clips of other things going on around the farm!
Waiting in line reminds me of my military days. 'Hurry and wait'. We did a lot of that in boot camp for the U.S. Navy. Love your channel!!!
people who scream that shearing is "traumatizing for the sheep!" should watch from about 7:06 to 8:57...yea thats the behavior of a terrified animals lol XD
We’ve always got that one child or sheep who’s um “special “ sometimes! Missing those sweet baby lambs!
I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoy your videos. Our lives are so different but I feel like I’ve come to know you and your family both human, canine and sheep. Thank you for sharing your life with us.
Goat is so adorable it's so freaking sad watching this knowing she's no longer here and seeing how much you loved her here and in all the other videos it's just heart breaking ugh
Sandi, I just love what your doing. I miss farming
