    Jack, you remind me of Frédéric Pignon from Portugal. I watched a documentary called The Man Who Dances With Horses. It was amazing. He also trains his horses with love, kindness, and respect. He has such a beautiful bond with his horses. So do you. Thank you for sharing.

    Drakaina is so calm for a young horse, she and Patriot took to each other beautifully, no drama, and Reece’s is so cute, zooming around the paddock, tfs x Julie 🇬🇧

    • @Curioushorse
      @Curioushorse  3 дні тому

      oh yes, I think she is super calm for a yearling too.
      its a calm collectiveness but also confidence right?
      They said she only had 6 weeks of handling when bought her, she still learning to show affection (no nibbling lol), but I don't think that she had bad exposures before I get her. I think she likely was out with a herd, and given time to develop correctly.

    Jack you're a bodhisattva. I consider them baby Buddhas. You’re someone who chooses enlightenment and to stay on this earth to make other people’s lives better, along with using meditation to find a place of peace and kindness. You exude goodness and calmness and being a very loving person towards others.
    I appreciate your channel for many of these reasons. There’s no conflict and it’s so apparent that you genuinely love and treasure your two and four legged family.

      Wow! Penny I literally researched this words when you first posted this, and I am definitely learning and see this as such a complement. I am honored.
      Yes, enlightenment is the path, and I do have a tendency to try to make others peoples lives better and strive to find peace and happiness that you mention. The light is all I have been able to display, but have seen other people in my life (childhood) show a much less generous (sociopathic energy), and I made a commitment that under no circumstances would I accept this, or let it impact me. This is the one of the reasons why I am so thankful to have had the support of my grandmother growing up. She always told, remember this is not forever, and you are nothing like that certain person.
      Such generous and kind words, and I shared this comment with my friends and family. Truly thankful

    All of your horses are quite lovely - Prince is absolutely magnificent ! Love your farm set up too. The young boy is not too big for Reeses - that is one stout pony - definitely able - and ponies often need the most "schooling" and workouts as they are naturally sassy. Proudly subscribed - I love your life philosophy

    I think Reese is mostly shetland pony or some othe miniature horse breed. Icelandics are way bigger and a different type and gaited.
    I also don't think he is a red roan, because a roan has a light coat on the body and darker head. They also look very different in winter compared to summer in their color.
    I think Reese is chestnut with flaxen genetically. The same color as a Haflinger. I have always been interested in color genetics.
    It is a very funny and lovely pony! Those zoomies put a big smile on my face and you have so much space for them. I love it.

    So glad everyone is healthy again. Looks to me like Drakaina is happy to be submissive. Once the more dominant mares move her around a bit, they will probably be good. It’s apparently all about who moves whom (as the trainers say). She seems super sweet and I love how she moves. For the tail and concern about Patriot’s weight, you could test her for vitamin E. I recently found out my girl was low in E. Since starting supplementation, her mane and tail look a lot healthier and she has built muscle in her hind end and top line. She used to scratch her hair off her upper tail, but now it looks like it’s growing back now. Drakaina loves her little pony buddy. Love how much space you have. So rare down here in south FL, along with allowing the herd to be together.

    So sweet how Patriot and Drakaina were instant friends 🖤🤎
    Prince and Drakaina together looks unreal, the difference in size and body! What a gentle giant Prince is 🤍🩶 Maybe he's known Friesians or black horses like her before, I wouldn't be worried, it was calm and gentle, how he greeted her.
    Ptss alters the brain for sure, I'm happy you are able to create this life for you and your horses, it's healing❤
    I've done so many things in riding, and teaching, but I came back to the base years ago, connection, as pure as possible, I stepped away from all the madness around riding completely we just do what we like and some necessary body work. I sometimes explain it to people, as how they ride in the movie Avatar, purely on connection.
    I don't see any Icelandic in Reeces, he looks like a cute, spicy Shetland to me.
    Also, the Icelandic are considered horses ;) Cause they might look like ponies, but they're as strong as big horses.
    Maybe he can learn how to drive with Reeces!? So he can do fun things with his favorite without sitting on him? 😊

    Drakina is a beautiful mover -- even though she is only a year old, she carries her body like she's been trained in Dressage collection already -- I find the differences between breeds so interesting. If I ever got another horse, I would love to have a Friesian -- they are so naturally elegant. All your horses are beautiful, but Drakina is just that little bit more for me (but then I am biased toward her breed type. There are services that give you the genetic mixes in ponies and mixed breed horses. All you have to do is pull about a half dozen hairs out by the roots (that's were the genetic material is best sourced) and they compare your horse/pony to their ever-growing data-base and list the three most prevalent breed genetics present. It would be interesting to find out Reece's background. My first guess would be Shetland mix (just because they are the most common ponies around). Reece's "save-space" under your observation deck is adorable (and smart too).

    I think the two fillies are getting along because they are both low on the totem pole it's not really hazing it's making the structure of the herd in the bravest strongest mare will be in charge of the earth and this is because she's in control of being protective she will protect her whole herd and what you might think is hazing is just helping the new horse learn their position in the herd so that the herd stays safe

Hopefully, if the young man is going to be around; lessons are important. My daughter learned jumping and won 1st prizes on a 30 year old horse at a riding school! Prince is starstruck by Drakaina! Honestly you should be fine if he is gelded (pretty sure your horses are I am rather new to the channel!) and never been bred. He won't try to hurt her, and more than likely will probably be very sweet to her! He was very gentle with her when he got to say hi, so I would say don't worry about those 2 together.
    With old horses sleeping more frequently, its so they don't get stiff. Don't want your old body to stay in one place too long or else you can't move!
    That also brings me to thinking what if Genana (sorry if misspelled) has some sort of nerve problem on her back. A lot of mares can have back/hip issues just from just woman pain or improper treatment beforehand. She may not be painful when you aren't on her but when you are- it may be what causes her to buck? Some people don't even realize the horse has a problem pain wise- they just think the horse hates to be ridden. Its the pressure that brings out the pain even just the weight of the saddle can set it off.

    • @Curioushorse
      @Curioushorse  3 дні тому +1

      Yes isn't he! I always read your comments Nina, and really appreciate the sincere and manfully words your bring. I think I might bring Prince in with the babies this weeks and do a video the following. Great idea.
      Good point about getting stiff, that didn't cross my mind, but makes perfect sense.
      Oh had Janana, her name is "Banana with a J", so Janana. I used to always have "JA" names and started to run out of options, so kinda created the name "Janana" lol
      I have had a quite a few people look at there, and everyone comes to the same conclusion that it's not pain related. the closed that we have came to maybe a pain factors was that, and equine body workers sense that when she, ever so lightly runs her hand on back (touch not pressure), she suspected she was sensitive to touch, and it may be Lyme disease . I had the vet check for this and it was also ruled out, so now we are all under the impression it's mental. She used to spin in circles around people and would eventually freeze and all you would see was the shut down, but white fear in her eyes. we have got past that for the most part, but the bolt is still there.
      you might be on to something regarding the pain, its just nothing is or has shown up except the touch component with her hair

    • @ninawink8973
      @ninawink8973 2 дні тому +1

      @@Curioushorse That's adorable! The name Janana is so unique! And yes it's something I have learned and had hard driven into my brain- a LOT of people give up mares to auction like that because they think the horse is fine until you get on them! It's something to do with a mares' physiology and just sometimes nerves can get pinched the wrong way when they are sat on, you could try riding her in a different style or looking into taking her to a specialized vet. Note down when she reacts specifically and then give her a good break cause there is definitely a reason she bucks. She seems like a good horse, with a beautiful heart and soft eyes when she watches you. I am sure something is wrong that is just hidden till approached right.
      Edit to Note: I also had to recommend the different style riding because I recently learned some horses can actually get triggered if you ride them a certain way- the wrong way in their eyes!
      I know I recommend adopting from HPHS but also their channel gives you lots of insight into this- they recently adopted out a horse that is green broke- unless you ride him a certain way then he refuses to do anything you say! It was interesting to learn and why I had to tell you!

    I enjoy your commentary. I especially enjoyed hearing about your grandmother and early years. What became of Rhythm? I think Patriot’s weight is fine from what I can see. It’s probably the fact of growing so fast that’s keeping you concerned about the weight. You have a loving spirit and show genuine concern, love, and care for your horses. As you continue to grow and become more knowledgeable and experienced with your horses you will gain more confidence. I think knowledge is a never ending journey which continues to enrich our lives. I believe it will also help with your anxiety regarding your horses. Sadly there will always be some things in life that we cannot control. Wishing you the best in your journey ahead.

    I would err on the side of feeding Patriot more (not that she looks too skinny -- she looks perfect to me). But she is still growing, and as they are out 24/7 they burn more calories in winter staying warm (I'm sure you know this all already, Jack :) But your worry and willingness to take other people's opinions into account is a sign of how sweet you are :) Re Patriot's tail, it just looks a little sun bleached, and it looks like she has created split ends by rubbing her butt on somethings to scratch it, breaking off the top layer into shorter more split-ends, which would be more susceptible to sun bleaching. I thought Prince was very respectful of Drakina, unless I missed something. The horses at the top of pecking order will always run and pick on the new, younger or "lesser" members to make sure everyone knows who is the boss. Clearly your two older mares are in charge of the herd, with Maverick being #1.

    Well, looks like you need a bigger pony (or two) for your young visitors, LOL! Just add em' to the herd. Dressage freestyle, is one of my favorites, because of the beauty of the test and how they harmonize to the music. Maple trees grow pretty fast. Just have ample fence around them till they grow a decent height. Alone in a field, they can grow to a grand size and have enough leaf coverage for the whole herd to laze under in the summer.

      Hi there, the only issue is that I believe the clips I can track down are vertical instead of horizontal. I'm gonna look for them, it won't be perfect quality, but will be fun to find and show them. Great idea

    A red roan is a bay with white hairs throughout the coat. Your pony is a strawberry roan: a chestnut with the white hairs. Strawberry roans often have white or blonde manes and tails.

    If you’re curious, get a DNA kit. I don’t know what they cost. Give it at least a week before integrating the babies. Be close by.

    I watch your videos regularly and I appreciate your unconventional approach. I suppose the so-called active stable concept has crossed the Atlantic, it is booming here in Europe, are you considering a concept of this kind for your property? This concept of active stable divides the property into multiple zones, each with a route to always challenge the horses such as rolling zone, dormitory zone, meadows, feeding zone, water troughs separated from automatic concentrate devices. Without going as far as this concept, although very interesting and win-win for both the horses and the owners, do you have a plan for a stabilized rolling area on your property?
    Is Prince a Percheron or a Boulonnais,...?

    Enjoyed your video. Your Shetland Pony has so much energy. Are you sure that lite weight boy can't still ride it? They were bred for hard work and used in the coal minds to haul and carry coal out. Putting that boy on her wouldn't cause any problems. It has alot of energy to wear off.

    People who habitually tear someone down have low self-esteem and it's called leveling when they try to bring other people down to their level to make them feel big for a minute. If you see that you can also say that to them and the room. Because most of them are not aware of that.

    I absolutely love your drone videos! With a little more practice to smooth out the movement, they will be even more amazing 😍 One thing that I wish you would do - can you please work on your sound quality (microphones?) for the "live" type videos?? 🥺😇 I have been watching your videos a lot lately, and the sound is so difficult to listen to and understand in those videos where you keep the original sound. Anyway, I love you and your big heart ❤ I just subscribed to follow your amazing journey 🐎😘 Please don´t let anyone or anything take away your pure heart!

    Love watching your progress, but can I please make two suggestions? #1 Don’t do the circled zoom in on the horses we can see better without you doing that
    #2 when trying to get yourself in frame don’t worry too much on how you look etc at times you do poses etc like your doing a insta pic….just be yourself in the videos everyone likes you just as you are.
    By the way your horses are stunning ❤

      I’m definitely open to suggestions thanks Chucky !
      Good to know that the zoom circles are not needed. I’m still kinda getting use to being behind the camera, so will work on this my friend.
      Thanks for the kind word with the herd too.

    It does say that sun bleaching could be a mineral deficiency in copper, zinc, iron, or manganese. When a horse's body doesn't have enough of the right minerals, it can't produce the pigments that give its hair color. per google. Anyway you have achieved so much. I love getting to hear about what brought you to this life. You are living my dream. I am sorry about the anxiety. I, too, have been through it and come out on the other side. Horses are always my best medicine.
