  • Polkadot will enable a completely decentralized web where users are in control.
Polkadot is built to connect private and consortium chains, public and permissionless networks, oracles, and future technologies that are yet to be created. Polkadot facilitates an internet where independent blockchains can exchange information and transactions in a trustless way via the Polkadot relay chain.
Polkadot makes it easier than ever to create and connect decentralized applications, services, and institutions. By empowering innovators to build better solutions, we seek to free society from its reliance on a broken web where its large institutions can’t violate our trust.

Just getting into Cryptocurrency. Can't really stress enough that this project, Gavin Wood and his team is crucial in learning what decentralization is about. I know we all want to make money but learn from these guys and gals and support. Be patient and inspire!

Thanks Gavin. I am going to build my project on Polkadot. I hope i can do it in 6 years if life permits. It wont be for profit. Great job explaining your Governance model.

One year and still not much views. Looks like the casual investor only goes for entertainment videos and forget about the informative ones. Thanks for sharing the vid!

I am trying to learn about Blockchain and Polkadot . I think that putting my money in Gavin Wood's hands is the best I can do for me and the other people in the world. Go, Gavin!

5:33 - "It makes no sense to have a system that can follow rules perfectly, regardless of who is trying to attack it or corrupt it, and yet not use it for governance."
It looks like a political revolution. Do you think that this governance system is just a sketch that could, in the future, become much more complex?

We will need a next generation of young people that are actually aware of this kind of tech XD. These old people today are completely outdated, and yet these people are making day to day decisions about our lives without even knowing what the real problems are in 100 years from now. Politicians today cant keep up anymore, they are humans after all. Probably 90% of a government could be automated completely enhanced with human input for the basic rules we value in our everyday lives (because computers don't know this ofc). Pillars that make true mix of democracy and technocracy possible for example (not talking about the "democracy" we live in today, because that's not a democracy). I like this project because of the "user-driven governance" but their is a downside aswell unfortunately cuz I really love the Idea of Polkadot. That is fake news. People today are bombarded with marketing and fake stories. Fake news is massively manipulating peoples minds. Also fact that the common people on the street don't even have a clue of where we are going in the future. Only the true experts out there with knowledge about many different industries and basic terms in life could lead the way. So to have a user drive governance we have to reduce and get rid of fake news in this world. This will be largely possible over time I'm sure.
There is also this project called Hedera Hashgraph, they already are building a governance council made out of industry leaders today which will grow towards a public and permission-less node system over time (see HH's path to decentralisation). Its still a private council today but that's due to safety and stability reasons, its still very early. Over time anyone can participate in the system as a full node and start voting on decisions. I reckon HH has the best vision on governance I have seen today in terms of geography and decentralisation. There are 39 members with all equal votes to decide about HH roadmap, Even the inventor of HH has only 1 vote. Their tech is actually already beyond blockchain tech, its based on a bunch of maths proves via Coq. They have achieved the highest possible level of security (aBFT) with an incredible speed of reaching finality on transactions, its the fastest out there with a very low stable fee.
The downside about HH is, that there is a patent on its (HCS) consensus mechanism. Which worries me too but its only its consensus mechanism, and it is an work of art in terms of maths. So I wouldn't mind to credit the inventor for it in stead of some investor or some other person who would copy it and make a shitload of money from it. Researchers are often exploited like this... that's my opinion.
