  • Commemorating March’s International Women’s Day, the IUA's HR and Training Committee welcomed Cheryl Baker who shared highlights of her career, from winning Eurovision in 1981 with Bucks Fizz to presenting a variety of prime time TV shows and treading the boards of in a range of productions including “Dial M for Murder” and “Menopause - The Musical”.
    In 1984, Cheryl became a familiar face on TV presenting a variety of programmes including the legendary Record Breakers, which she presented for 11 years. In 2018 Cheryl adventurously appeared in Dancing On Ice, lasting a credible five weeks and more recently, participated in the Channel 5 series, Five Celebs Go Camping, highlighting her versatility and enthusiasm and proving that age doesn't define your capabilities.
    In addition to TV, Cheryl’s theatre credits include Happy Days - The Musical, Footloose - The Musical, The Wizard of Oz, Beauty & The Beast and many pantos (oh yes she did!)
    A real-life EastEnder, born in Bethnal Green, Cheryl chats about the highlights and challenges she has experienced in her profession, and shares details of her charity work whilst balancing a career and family.

    Rita, if I am allowed to call you that (LOL) you are one awesome human being - love your positive outlook on life and all the happiness that you have brought to so many people over the years - I was reunited with Bucks Fizz only a couple of weeks ago when a friend sent me a request to join them on a collaboration, on a karaoke app, and yes the song was MAKING YOUR MIND UP - then I started watching videos of the band and watched your THIS IS YOUR LIFE and you had me in stitches especially when Michael Aspel mentioned that you weren't always know as Cheryl Baker and you said NO. Do you want me to tell you who I was? I was RITA CRUDGINGTON - and everyone laughed and you admonished them for laughing
