The interesting part about this series is that it’s a rare thing where the actual “hero” of the story becomes the viewers favorite. All other horror flicks people buy posters/shirts etc of the monsters. In these Ash becomes the character everyone loves.
It’s because Bruce is a legend
One of my favorite movies of all time
If the Avengers comedy level is 1,
Army of darkness Is on Level 10 !
Granted - Ash does shift in tone towards being more straightforward heroic and I find it interesting to hear Raimi doesn't like that bit so much - I always thought it was by design, after all at this point in the plot Evil Ash is no longer part of him but his own character.
I always thought it was kinda logical that the good Ash now got a little better altogether. :)
Best moment? "Gimmie some sugar baby!"
Best moment "Get the fuck out my face!"
I still prefer Evil Dead 2. I think it struck the perfect balance, and that's the one I would recommend to a newcomer.
Well 2 is a horror comedy 1 is a horror with subtle comedy an this one isn't horror at all its fantasy comedy adventure
Nice tribute, loved working on this film we had a blast
Ash is like the Jerry Lewis of horror. Love the channel guys. Keep up the good work.
If you haven't already; review The Lost Boys (1987)
Yes, I'd also say Raimi had been inspired originally by the work of Ray Harryhausen, all his life, I'd bet, even, considering the master's back catalogue, Clash of the Titans, the Sinbad films, etc, as Raimi's work on both the Hercules & Xena films are a testament to them! However AOD cannot help but look a lot like Bednobs and Broomsticks aswell, with the marching undead army scenes they share?
I saw this film 5 times at the cinema and got all my friends and family to see it multiple times as well. Love Evil Dead 2, but this is one of my favorite films of all time! Army of Darkness is excellent. Great review guys.
Great review guys, this is nowhere near intense and gory as first two films IMO, but it does have more humor which i don't mind.
I quote this movie way too much. Almost daily.
On behalf of people around you, stop
Absolutely loved this as a child and i still love it now, i fully got the humour and just loved the whole fantasy aspect of it aswell! Thanks for another stellar review 👊.
Which cut do you prefer the most: Theatrical, European or Director's Cut?
Completely agree with the review :) Looking forward to the new series ?
At the time THIS was the definition of comedy I liked. Glorious, just glorious!
The #1 movie reviewers on UA-cam. Even though I know I've said it a million times but the truth is the truth. Praying the rest of 2020 or more likely 2021 you explode and become as known and compensated as you should be.
Good, bad- I’m the one with the gun. OTSR 🤙🤙
"You there handsomely now!"
"Right my leige"
I have the full sized poster for this movie framed over my bed... dunno if that's weird or not.
groovy
The first two "Evil Dead" movies were HARD CORE horror. Army of Darkness was a (Wonderfully) campy parody of the previous two movies. I really felt that, as good and funny this movie is in its on right, it has little to nothing to do with the first two films.
Jetset906 to be fair the 2nd one is also a full on comedy horror. This one also adds in the fantasy element and does up the comedy. I love all 3 movies each in their own way.
off the shelf reviews & decker shado & deusdaecon reviews & oliver harper & RavensFilm Productions & MR H Reviews & Channel Awesome+Nostalgia Critic are the best you tube channels people always subscribe to them
"Gimme some sugar baby"
The Dark Horse Movie tie in Comic book for Army of Darkness had more scenes with the Deadites and was more horror then the actual movie.
Another great video guys... only come across your channel recently... will yoou be doing a review of "Ash vs The Evil Dead"
18:06 Adam Driver is born.
wait... there is no off the shelf review of Bubba Ho-Tep? I highly... highly... highly, highly, highly, highly highly, highly, highly suggest that :D
P.s.: I really hope it is not a "little Ash" tattoo at... places...
I actually saw this way before I ever saw Evil Dead 1 or 2, and I agree so much with Iain. I had NO idea what had happened in the previous movies so I was kinda confused, but you really don't have to have seen them to enjoy this one. I remember I was about 11 or 12 and it had come up on TV during a Saturday movie night, and I thought it was excellent...although I still had to cover my eyes for the few scary bits. Never been able to conquer my fear of jump scares.
never really comment but you guys are awesome. just wondering if you could review an episode or two of the show, just so we could know what you guys thought.
Have you guys seen "Darkman"? It was an original superhero film directed by Sam Raimi and it's super underrated.
It looks like I slept too long, but I think I have a correction. I believe the reason they refilmed events from Evil Dead 2 rather than say including the footage of Ash chopping his hand off in said film was a rights issue. It's also why in Ash Vs. Evil Dead they couldn't use footage from Army of Darkness (and perhaps ED 2, as I believe they used footage from just 1, but they may have had him chopping his hand off, been a minute since I watched it and the panel where they discussed such things).
This movie....is amazing.
"Grooovy"
