Shaykh Hamza recounts a powerful story from the life of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) that highlights his extraordinary mercy and character, even in the face of danger. While resting in enemy territory, the Prophet was ambushed by a man who seized his sword and threatened to kill him. Calm and fearless, the Prophet responded by saying, “Allah will protect me.”
Amazingly, the sword fell from the man’s hand, and the Prophet picked it up. Instead of seeking revenge, the Prophet asked, “Who will protect you from me now?” The man, astonished by the Prophet’s composure and mercy, recognized his noble character. The Prophet then invited him to Islam but did not compel him. The man pledged never to fight the Prophet or support his enemies, later returning to his people and describing the Prophet as “the best of people.”
Shaykh Hamza emphasizes that this incident reflects the Prophet’s mission to guide hearts through compassion and wisdom, even toward those who sought his life. This story is a testament to the Prophet’s unparalleled mercy and his dedication to inviting people to Islam without coercion.
