His parents could not except the fact that he was gay let alone us being togsther. His parents called my mom and told her everything. Then asked if i could come over because Nic was out of his mind and was locked in the bathroom. I am sorry but i cant say the words anymore. Nick took his life that day and i broke the door only to see what a gun can do. I said the words one more time then realized he was gone. People let your kids be whatever they want. His parents have nothing now and i will never be able to enjoy my life.
I’m glad Dillon stopped Lucas from leaving. I love the declarations of love especially “I want to stay here with you.” But Lucas needs professional help to get rid of the conversion therapy Carters put him through. Carter has taught him to think of being gay violently, which is going to take a professional to help him get rid of those thoughts. I know Lucas really didn’t want to hurt Dillon’ or himself , it’s just the conversion therapy. I hope Lucas can get help to get better.

And when he was first starting to question his sexuality, Ste told him that he hoped he'd never be gay, because being gay had brought too much trouble to their family already. His own gay dad told him that, and then signed him up for private sessions with Carter. Ste didn't know it was for conversion therapy, but Carter told him that Ste knew and had wanted him cured. It's why Lucas first started working so hard to be "cured" of being gay. He thought it would make his dad proud. And Ste actually was proud of him, and his new behavior for nearly two months. Lucas was doing good deeds at home, helping out, being polite, and Ste just kept shipping him off to Carters special groups outside of school, never knowing how dangerous they were. This all falls on Misbah for being the one to get Carter to start looking over Lucas in the first place, causing him to realize Lucas might be a new vulnerable gay kid to groom into Declan's cult, and Ste for saying that horrible thing to his own son, and then signing him up for Carters special sessions groups without even trying to find out what would actually be happening in those groups. Lucas didn't want to go to those special sessions at first, until Cater told him his dad signed him up because he already knew, and wanted him to be fixed. They pushed Lucas head first down a physical and mental torture rabbit hole. I mean, if you're struggling with your sexuality, and your own gay parents tell you being gay is nothing but heart break, suffering, and trouble the family doesn't need, and that they hoped you would never turn out gay, and then signed you up for conversion therapy, you're going to feel so lost. Poor Lucas never had a chance in this. Everything that's been happening since, has just left me feeling gutted at every turn.
I hate that Lucas batters Dillon so many times, but the insane chemistry between Lucas and Dillon makes up for everything. They're just sooooooo good together. I cried when Dillon told Lucas he loved him - you could just see how desperately Lucas needed to hear those word. Gold

Conversion 'therapy' should be banned. Psychologists reject it for all the harm it causes. This kind of indoctrination has nothing to do with therapy and comes from fait-based groups preying on the vulnerable. It causes great psychological harm, making people hate themselves. God is at the center, not the well-being of those recruited.
Oscar Curtis and Nathaniel Dass are great actors, scenes had me in tears😭. Poor Lucas, I hope he gets the help he needs and I hope him and Dillon get together and be happy sometime😢

I‘m so scared that Dillon won’t be able to forgive Lucas for what he did, which would be understandable, but Lucas didn’t want to hurt him - it was the conversion therapy messing with his head. I really hope they can be together right after all this and that Hollyoaks won’t wait another few months to unite them, waiting for Dillon to forgive him. God, they‘ve been through enough pain, they need each other! Now more than ever…

Those Lucas and Dillon scenes were great, as was Nate and Oscar's performance. What chemistry. What a partnership. Hollyoaks has gold on its hands with these two. And I liked the ending. It took me by surprise. It was very dramatic and very Romeo and Juliet.

Unfortunately the topic of conversion therapy is very current, and in many places people are subjected to such treatment, against their will... It's terrible just to think what they go through... Carter needs help to accept what he is... but above all to leave minors who are vulnerable alone, and not introduce them to conversion therapy ... Psychological supports for lgbtq+ people who are at a young age are different. Trying to make them be "straight" is not the right support.

It doesn't matter if you would get manipulated at a different pace he was, the fact is he was vulnerable and manipulated into thinking all sorts of nonsense. Conversion therapy is horrible, his entire world is so confusing rn every thought he has is crashing down and makes him spiral into thinking that he's going to go to hell. He needed help and carter used that to get to him. He didn't sh to make himself the "victim", it's not about that. He did it as he felt so terrible ab what he just did. The regret and shame he must've felt was overwhelming and he didn't know what to do. Sh is a coping mechanism not a victim card. Yes, what he did to dillon was terrible but it does make sense that he would do something like this after Carter confusing him and twisting his mind into thinking the worst thing would come to him if he was just himself.
The whole point of this storyline isn't the individuals. It's the commentary on how damaging and dangerous conversion therapy is. He's not a homophobe, he's being groomed. Carter can't show you who Lucas is as a person, because Carter is the one warping him. People have repeatedly pointed out that he's never been homophobic before, they don't understand where it's coming from, etc. I could see your interpretation of the self harm, if Lucas didn't say all those things to Dillon that he said while they were both there and Dillon couldn't hear him. He wasn't saying he loved him as a ploy to anyone else. Etc. Carter is a monster, and is the absolute villain here. Lucas is just a kid who's being emotionally and mentally abused by an authority figure and has a very difficult relationship with his own sexuality.

The character is meant to be fully Indian but the actor is of a South Asian, European, Middle Eastern and Latino descent.
I love the actor who plays Carter, but I don't like Carter's character at all... It gives me hives... Unfortunately the topic of conversion therapy is very current, and in many places people are subjected to such treatment, against their will... It's terrible just to think what they go through... Carter needs help to accept what he is... but above all to leave minors who are vulnerable alone, and not introduce them to conversion therapy ... Psychological supports for lgbtq+ people who are at a young age are different. Trying to make them be "straight" is not the right support.

It doesn't matter if you would get manipulated at a different pace he was, the fact is he was vulnerable and manipulated into thinking all sorts of nonsense. Conversion therapy is horrible, his entire world is so confusing rn every thought he has is crashing down and makes him spiral into thinking that he's going to go to hell. He needed help and carter used that to get to him. He didn't sh to make himself the "victim", it's not about that. He did it as he felt so terrible ab what he just did. The regret and shame he must've felt was overwhelming and he didn't know what to do. Sh is a coping mechanism not a victim card. Yes, what he did to dillon was terrible but it does make sense that he would do something like this after Carter confusing him and twisting his mind into thinking the worst thing would come to him if he was just himself.
The whole point of this storyline isn't the individuals. It's the commentary on how damaging and dangerous conversion therapy is. He's not a homophobe, he's being groomed. Carter can't show you who Lucas is as a person, because Carter is the one warping him. People have repeatedly pointed out that he's never been homophobic before, they don't understand where it's coming from, etc.
I could see your interpretation of the self harm, if Lucas didn't say all those things to Dillon that he said while they were both there and Dillon couldn't hear him. He wasn't saying he loved him as a ploy to anyone else. Etc. Carter is a monster, and is the absolute villain here. Lucas is just a kid who's being emotionally and mentally abused by an authority figure and has a very difficult relationship with his own sexuality.
