This style of basketball is so much more entertaining. They might not be as talented or as athletic, but the in/out style half court and constant fast breaks is so great to watch
@@Fakename70 Because I mostly watch Lakers games. I wasn't even meant to say that AD isn't a great defender. He definitely makes the opp FG% go down when he is around the rim. But IMO he's not much challenging dunk attempts. Okay, he also saves a lot of personal fouls on him.
Thanks for the upload, full game or full game highlights will be awesome because I can't watch NBA games these days so any old school games will be a gem to watch. Thank you for the upload!!
I was at this game!1 I remember having to drive to Tacoma from Seattle to see the Hornets , The Sonic’s coliseum was being renovated so they played their home games at the Tacoma dome that season , Kemp was a beast and some of his dunks electrified the crowd!
Wow I live in tacoma my hole life, live 10 mins from the tacoma Dome in my older brother use to go to the games everyday in snik in after school. In a few times they tuck me it was amazing. Never forget it 😊
Yeah but Shawn Kemp dunked on Mourning 4x in this game and had a strong game as well. The refs gave Charlotte this game. You see all those ticky tak fouls called. It was Basketbrawl in those days. They don't even call that stuff today. Seattle had 5 technical fouls also. Kemp got a tech on that last dunk and didn't say a word. George Karl got fined bc he said that 1 referee should've been shot
What are you talking about. Kemp abused mourning. Yakd on him atleast 5x. That left handed yak, the lob from GP, 2 reverse dunks, the put back 2 handed jam. He was also. Snatching those offensive cookies over mourning. Kemp was just at another level.
@@mguerra310 Dunking on someone proves nothing. Mourning was one of the greatest all around centers in NBA history in the greatest era of big man. He was a 2 time defensive POY, Olympic Gold Medalist and and NBA Champion. Kemp made a couple all star games and ate himself out of the league. He was no where near the all around force Mourning was and to suggest otherwise is beyond laughable.
@@R.POliver you a casual. Greatest all around center hahahaha. No one thinks of mourning as a great center. Especially that era which was dominated by Olajuwon, Shaq, Robinson, Ewing and Mutumbo.
The Sonics were stacked that season. Go, sk40, Gil, Detlef and Perk at the starting lineup. I think this the same season they shat the bed against the nuggets.
I saw Kemp and Mourning as high schoolers playing in a Las Vegas Summer tournament. Kemp looked skinny compared to Mourning who looked like he was already in the NBA. Kemp's AAU team was loaded though, with Don Maclean, Chris Mills, and Darrick Martin. Fun times as a teenager.
Alonzo Mourning won this one on one matchup in the scoring department. This was a fairly clean game with smart shot selection from both Mourning (64.3FG%) and Larry Johnson (69.2FG%).
Sports is supposed to be competitive like this, effort and heart leave the fans encouraged. Nowadays regular season or playoffs them dudes got the same intensity as if they waiting for their manicure and pedicure 🤦🏿♂️ all the skills and athleticism what good that do?
Of all the past greats, Kemp wouldn’t be better in todays game because they would T him up for his after dunk antics and give him flagrant foul for the way he dunk
Thats what happens when you never leave the paint. I have seen all the greats get dunked on or blocked and then give it right back. That was the mentality of the game then though.
What a great game! Classic 90s style basketball. Reign man & Zo played great!
This style of basketball is so much more entertaining.

They’re definitely talented and athletic lol
What you described is every version of basketball since the merger EXCEPT 97-04.
When I was a kid, Kemp was my favorite player
I'm so glad I grew up with this generation of the NBA, Late 80's, 90's and Early 2000's. Thanks for posting these videos! Subbed!
👍
the left handed dunk on mourning looks so good! kemp was floating
Yeah, that was sweet. He was pretty exciting for a few years.
Zo was posturized a lot, but he was never afraid to stay in the paint the whole game.
@@deebo1103That's what I like about the mentality. Guys like AD or Lebron nowadays don't challenge like this anymore.
@@pekie5533 interesting that you singled out Davis and James, specifically.

I went to my first ever Sonics game that year in that building. It was actually the first pro sports event I’d ever attended
That's what real Basketball is like!!!.
Love these announcers, so animated and entertaining
Chick Hearn (Lakers) was my favorite announcer.
Kevin Calabro (now with Portland) and Marques Johnson.

cant believe you lived in this dump your whole life with all of these rats living on the streets. i hope you are young.
What a battle Kemp vs Zo 😮
Love the mutal respect between the Reignman and Zo!
Sean with the Reebok kamikazes, Larry Johnson with the Converse Aero jams.
Everyone talking about Kemp, meanwhile Mourning is dunking, hitting hook shots and three pointers. SMH
True, and took the W.

Great game miss the 90s
IF kemp didn’t lose his shit, the Sonics probably would’ve played the bulls three times straight in the finals.
Kemp rocking those Reebok Kamikazee..
More Kemp!
Yup i've got lots more Kemp to come!
The Sonics were stacked that season. Go, sk40, Gil, Detlef and Perk at the starting lineup. I think this the same season they shat the bed against the nuggets.
Shawn Kemp was out there claiming Souls! Excellent PF

The lower right corner. That guys reaction to Kemp’s dunk. 😂😂😂
Forgot how big Alonzo was.
I don't know how that happened.
Hornets with not only Bogues but Adams also talk about a short guard group cuz the Hawk was only 6'3 too.
Kevin Calabro! 🔥
Exactly 4 months later the Sonics and Hornets would make a big offseason trade.
My 39 year old self to my 10 yr old self "Kid don't let the dunks and NBA action fool you, there are tons of better PFs out there"
There were definitely a lot of reverse dunks and layups in this game.
Zo💪 My role model. 👌
The Rigen Man
Reign Man
Shawn's dunks at 5:52 and 7:43🔥
What a Dunk Shawn over morning
I MISS MY SONICS!! 😢
8:51 Alonzo Mourning trying to replicate Dikembe Mutombo's rebound to seal the Nuggets upset over the Sonics the previous postseason.
This is technically now the Pelicans vs the Thunder 😏
3:05 I almost thought that Mourning was going to fall by running like that.

Good to see Kemp squeeze a little basketball into his life in between fathering children across the country. 🤣
calls were bad at end :(
Kemp was unique
Charlotte may have won but Shawn was killing Zo!
Of all the past greats, Kemp wouldn’t be better in todays game because they would T him up for his after dunk antics and give him flagrant foul for the way he dunk
Even back then they were pussies and called taunting techs for a small reaction after this wonderful alley-oop tomahawk 😢
Zo might have been a HOF if he didn’t get hurt. But man he used to get dunked on a lot.
There is no might have been guy. Rediculous comment. 1st ballot no doubt about it.
