this video I trim several hedges of Beech and Privet, as well as this we take down several small trees. These are fantastic jobs to get done during winter.
Sam you honestly look so professional with all your gear on and the whole setup mate 🔥 you also made a cracking Job of both jobs, the pole saw looks a really capable bit of kit
Ah thank you very much mate! All the Gear.. 👀👀😂 But seriously cheers man, we are in a pretty good place this year for what is around the corner so let’s see what happens!😄
Great work Sam very professional job some going on your own 6 hours working to do all that and clean up too like the battery hedge cutters still all petrol Gear I using
You've got a good eye for level Sam. A trick I use is to follow a brick course If one available as a sight line or roof tiles like the ones you can see in your vid. A professional job by you. I like that Husqvarna lid you've got on, will replace my old Stihl with one soon.
Yeah this is the technical Forest helmet I believe, definitely my favourite one! Just replacing the visor this year which is £30 alone lol, but a great helmet for sure. Thank you Derek, that’s a great shout with the brick work! Anything to help is beneficial 💪🏽
Hi Andy! Thank you very much for commenting. Yes it’s something I’m going to try and do more of this year - sharing prices & the quoting process for some sites. Take care Andy! 🌱
Great video but I need to get the details on that adjustable ladder you were on I have never seen one before. I want to get one. Thanks from Mike in Alabama USA
Thank you Mike, absolutely! So this one is an 8ft Henchman Adjustable Tripod Ladder - they are fantastic and a lot safer! www.henchman.co.uk/?gclid=CjwKCAiA8OmdBhAgEiwAShr407tYig4aUsyQIJegNCOwmajt4WwtkIGwlpOJbzRirPMGRS4XaY1dKhoCi30QAvD_BwE Niwaki is another brand that sell them too😄 www.niwaki.com/tripod-ladders/#P00325-10
Nice work! I can tell you love your job! Nice to get all the kit out too! I noticed you use the long reach a lot on the sides. I personally find it easier, lighter to use the handheld battery trimmer on sides. Then long reach on top. I also have elbow supports for my tennis elbows! Where's your podcast gone to??? I'm having withdraw symptoms! 😀
Hi Joseph! I do yeah, I actually started off using the short reach in this job but the clip failed during the editing phase! I found it quicker to go straight from the sides to the top, but I agree it’s a lot more comfortable using the short reach where possible, I should use it more 😅. You know I was just thinking of maybe getting some today! My left elbow seems to play up a little the day after trimming, do you find they help much? Just a short stop for Christmas as my laptop broke! New episode dropping tomorrow morning at 5am!😄 so that should be them airing weekly again 💪🏽🎙️
@@JayRockGroundsMaintenance ill set my alarm for 5am! Haha. Seriously, get some elbow supports. Doesn't matter how big your muscles are, tendons can still gey over loaded. I had NHS physio 3 years ago I struggled to do any hedge cutting! It's improved now. The felcro adjustable support straps are amazing. Not expensive. Amazon. They act as a buffer. So strain goes up your arm, hits support, then goes to your elbow. Plus exercises that will strengthen your elbow tendons are key. Most valuable equipment you have, your health! Look forward to podcast
@@josephmccole4132 it’s just so it’s on ready for the early wakers!😂. Ahh awesome! I’ll 100% check them out! Like you say health is so important and it’s something I’m thinking about more and more these days!

Great job as always mate. Tidy efficient and professional. How much run time to do you get out of the Husqy chainsaw ? And what sort of price is the ego multi tool with the polesaw, made light work of that mate. Great stuff
Oh I’m not too sure pal, depends on the amount of cuts and thickness of wood. I used 1 battery doing two small trees. I believe it is around £600/£700 with all of the attachments and a battery, the new combi is released soon though! That’s the one to go for 😄
Hi Jay, great video. I was just looking at buying a pair of Stihl trousers. Would you recommend? I do mainly maintenance work and wanted something a bit more protective and warmer for this weather but also giving me a bit of flexibility…let me know 👍
Hi James! These are chainsaw trousers, very warm but I only ever use them when I’m using a chainsaw. Other than that I use Revolution race GP or GP pro trousers, they are fantastic!
Great vid, like the pricing breakdown at the end. One question, using the chipper/shredder. Do you charge extra to use that? Other option is to load the trailer up with the rubbish and dump, running the chipper costs you money. TIA
Awesome! Thank you very much for commenting and letting me know 😄. Yes I charge a hire fee, £50 usually if it is just small use like this, £90 per job if it’s being used most of the day, it allows me to bring in something extra for the machine 😄. It’s great having the van and trailer but it’s still amazing how quick it fills up when everything is full size
@@JayRockGroundsMaintenance Thanks for your reply. Question back :). Do you give the customer the choice of paying for the chipper or just load everything into the trailer and take it to the dump? Why would they pay the extra £50 on the bill? Thanks ;)
Hi Mick! So the Husqvarna hedge trimmers are ones I’ve had for years now, brilliant machines which are all sole purpose machine, long reach hedge trimmer Husqvarna 520iHE3 & short reach Husqvarna 520iHD60. The pole saw I was using was the ego combi system. Which worked fantastic and didn’t seem to be a problem cutting through them branches.
Not sure about everyone else but work is dying down rapidly. The phone has stopped ringing and I don't have anything booked for November or December. Can anyone else here relate? Don't know what to do as I need the money coming in
Professional as always jay, I just grabbed the stihl hta 66 for the upcoming years work as I really could have done with one this year but couldn’t afford it. I can’t wait to see what it is capable of.
Thank you !🙌🏽 yes they aren’t the cheapest of tools are they, once you have the ability to cut from the ground though it’s a bit of a game changer, and a hell of a lot safer!
Really good job mate! The whole set up you’ve built is looking incredibly professional now, absolute credit to you. You’re setting the standard!
Thank you very much JB! That is very kind of you, hopefully we can continue to grow and produce !😄🌱
