I have to say, I really enjoyed this video! I never knew about this “what if”, and I think you told it in a pretty precise and interesting way! The editing was good, and can I say I LOVE the little art/caricatures you put into these videos. I’ve been a fan of it for a while, and I think they really helps add a unique touch to your vid! I can’t help but see these videos, should you make more, getting better and better!
Thanka for the video! I knew Ashley was in the running to pkay Catwoman but didn't know how deep that went. Nice to be informed on what we could've had. At 9:18 you mentioned a 3 picture deal...was there supposed to be sequels to the Catwoman film? I'd absolutely love to know just what their plans, if any, were for those films. The concept of a sequel has fascinated me for a while. Anyways, I myself like Halle's Catwoman (despite it being garbage. It's *my* garbage though, haha), though I'd have loved to see what an Ashley Judd Catwoman would've been like. Just hearing about that female wrestler being slated, perhaps as a henchwoman, already hints a little at the idea that the script wasn't nearly as immature as the final product, which is pretty interesting. Did they rework the script into the craziness that was Halle's Catwoman after Ashley left? Wonder if we'll ever know.
Thank you! and yes, the 3 picture deal was for Nicole. Had the film done sufficiently well enough, there would have been sequels, hands down. At one point, Pitoff was asked about the possibility of including batman, but all he said was that at most Batman could only be "hinted at" or refferenced in the sequels. So we wouldn't have seen him anyways :( As for the rewrite? Yes the script went through many many different rewrites. I left quite a bit of stuff from this video due to my nervousness, thinking it would be too long, but I might have to revise this one. With Halle casting, several changes had to be made, including Pattience's name, which went from "Price" to "Phillips". Can you imagine hiring an actress of color to play a character named "Price"? You sometimes have to wonder what goes through peoples minds, when making desicions. Now this is purely speculative, so take it with a grain of salt, but the inclusion of Chyna in the cast, was probably when the script still had traces of the oasisburg theme that Waters wrote in the first drafts. Chyna fits perfectly well with that type of scenario.
@@anyalized I see, I see. It's a total shame the movie didn't do well enough to get a glimpse of those sequels. They had all the right pieces there for a blockbuster hit. The powers, animal inspired movements and behaviors, and attitude could've carried the movie far if only the team didn't focus in so hard on Patience acting sexy. It's Catwoman. She doesn't need to act sexy. She has sexy down pat by default. All they needed to do was give her more than a semblance of a suit and allow her power and fierceness to speak for itself... Anyways, I've seen some of those scripts and screenplays you mentioned. Peeking at them was... interesting. Realizing that they had a blueprint of that and still deviated so far is fascinating. The way that the entire project was disjointed from the top down never stops amazing me. Even the tie-in books I found to check out on the Internet Archive don't tell the exact same story. At this point, I just hope someone gives Halle the chance to try again with all the foresight from the original project. Maybe not Catwoman but the first of new, original heroines?
In my opinion Eliza Dushku should have been cast as Catwoman long ago, she always had the "Selina Kyle" vibes. I still think Eliza can pull the role even today, she still looks amazing. No offense to Ashley Judd but I don't think "Catwoman" when I see her, she would have end up a miscast. (I know Eliza Dushku was voice acting in "DC Showcase: Catwoman").
