I've tried tinfoil and onion have to give the lemon a go I like the smell of the onion when it heats up I use a wire brush and I have a piece of bamboo with a groove in it to get the stubborn bits on the sides of the bars cheers 🍻
Great comparisons. I am starting to cook more, because it's so bloody EXPENSIVE to eat out at Restaurants anymore. So, we are cooking at home, and I am really getting into BBQ and learning to use my Traeger to smoke different foods. So, thank you for helping give us some ideas on how to clean our units after we cook. You did an excellent job and gave us ideas.
Great video 👍, never knew these would work, (I've always just soap and scoured em), although the lack of chemicals involved here is definitely the way to go 💪😎
Just turn it over every time you cook the heat will burn off anything that's dripped alternatively wrap in in foil and replace each time or use a drip pan ( this will need to lifted off the deflector using stainless steel nuts otherwise the smoke is nasty
@@BBQLIFE one other question either for here or a future Q&A video: I also own fish and burger cages with handles like you have hanging on the wall of your grulling shack. As the Kamado is meant to be used closed, is it possible to use these? If so, how?
Hi Tom, very good and informative video's , came across your channel and subscribed as I have just ordered the aldi kamado awaiting delivery 😀. Wondered if you could answer a question I have? I see you keep your kamado in your bbq shack but is it ok to leave outside with just the provided cover or will moisture penatrate the ceramic over time? Would really appreciate your thoughts. From an enthusiastic bbq'er.
It's will be fine outside under the cover just make sure it's tied down so the cover doesn't blow off. If ots been very damp and cold just warm her up slowly and it will be fine
I prefer spraying on Vinegar (acid to remove the grease) and Aluminum foil to abrade the carbon. Plus it is safe. I think onion will leave too much sugars that will just caramelize and burn and become more carbon.
I use an onion, but on a hot grill, just like you'd heat your grill to brush off anything on the grill before you start cooking. I think the onion is the best
Great video Tom I got my Aldi Kamado about 4 weeks ago and have used every weekend so far suprised theses methods were as effective goes to show you don’t always need chemicals. A question for you is there a rotisserie that fits the Aldi komado? I was looking at the joetisserie?

Pretty cool experiment Tom! After you use the onion, you can throw it on the coals, gives a nice flavor to food. Cheers!
I have done before mate. Hope you are OK bruva
Good video. Vinegar also works well for cutting through grease. It always feels better using something that's also edible.
Good shout
Quick and efficient, thanks!
Cheers
Brilliant stuff once again Tom
Thanks 🍺

Love it Tom. Thanks for the good advice.

Great Channel and video! Thanks. How should I clean the ceramic heat deflector that came with the Aldi kamado?

@@BBQLIFE that's really helpful! I never would have thought of just flipping it. So simple. Thank you

You can use it open too mate but you will get better heat control closed.
Using the onion/lemon on a hot grill works much better as it steams and lifts more carbon of the grates
👍🏻
