"accidently" drank a 12 pack. Good stuff right there. I understand...it happens. Love your vids. I used to backpack/tent camp years ago. Stopped for a couple decades and now getting into motocamping. (Been riding for 46 yeaars, now have an 08 KLR with tons of mods) Your advice and videos are very helpful in getting new gear together. So far I have been on 3, 2 night trips. Still refining my stuff and hoping to do a LOT more of it. I bought the Gaerne Balance Boots in 2017 and love them as well. Very comfortable and easy to walk in. Have several thousand miles on them.
i absolutely love mine, i wont go anywhere without them...especially after shattering my ankle almost a year ago on a motorcycle.....but i agree...best boots i have ever had
Following your channel from the U.K and I love it , its good to get an honest long term review, and at the perfect time for me. Here in the UK everyone is SIDI mad this gives me a great option for my next boots thanks man.
I broke my Tibia and Fibula riding across a stream on a KLR in these boots! It wasn't so much the boots fault: I caught my toe in some mud where it twisted into a spiral fracture. 12 bolts and a plate. I still love and ride in the boots.
I really appreciate your riding gear videos, they’re so helpful in deciding what’s actually useful and a good value. Thanks and I hope you keep doing them.
Went out to the Get On! ADV Fest last year with these boots, and the first day out I managed to "drop" the bike straight on my big toe wearing these. The rear end of the bike dropped into a heavy rut, which pulled the front end up in the air, then the bike fell sideways (and straight into my toe as mentioned). I broke my toe, which should tell you how hard the bike hit the ground, even with all of the protection these Corozal's offer. I can only imagine what it would have been without the protection of the boots (likely an amputated toe). Oh, and along with the broken toe, I managed to crush the crash bars into the bike, and couldn't pull them back out by hand or with a ratchet strap... The more I look back on it, the more impressed I am that all I had was a bum toe for the weekend (still rode all weekend). A+ in my book!
A guy in my Tucson riding group broke his ankle while wearing these boots just a couple weeks ago. Was going slow and Front wheel slipped off a rock causing him to fall over. I have these boots also and I think they gave up a lot of safety by making them more flexible. I can easily roll my ankle over in them so they aren't providing much safery.
They do provide alot of safety but there is compromise. MX boots would have probably helped the guy. Most adventure riders don’t consider MX boots an option take a chance and compromise.
@@maxhenry9724 I wear MX boots on the dual sport and coming from street/sport riding there was a saying we're not supposed to do that because they won't 'side' in a low side and will catch/cause us to tumble. Thoughts on that from your exp? Had some SMX6 V2's for years but zero grip on anything with dirt.
@@Hondeer Knock on wood, I haven’t been in that situation! I usually wear my Cochran lace up jump boots. They are comfortable and I feel confident in them. But like I said I haven’t had to put them to the test.
Thank you for this recommendation. The Corozal sounds like just what would fit my ADV riding style best. I'll use your link to check them out and get a size from your source. (Just FYI, I have a "many years-old" pair of Chippewa all- leather, heavy duty boots for riding my Electra Glide on (mostly) street. Riding alone, one early morning, thru Joshua Tree NP, I managed to "tuck" the front end - in black sand at a turn-off and, like you, pinned myself, facedown, under the left pannier. I mean pinned !)with the bike's 900 lb weight pointing my heal straight down, into the hard ground, against my downward-facing toe. Ouch!! I was stuck until an elderly couple drove by and saw me under my bike. The 75+ couple managed to help me crawl out. Those $200 boots saved my ankle from breaking - with only a 14- month sprain to heal up! Good boots are with every penny!!!! Thanks for your great videos.
Great review! Thanks. I picked these up based on this review alone. Took them out yesterday for a ride. Took a little getting used to but I think they will work out great. Thanks. I ride a 300 Rally.
I have Alpinestar MX boots I bought in 1983 and still wear them. Hi Point Alpinestars. I can't believe they are still in decent shape. If I buy new boots, it will be the same brand and well worth the money. I like the fact that they are well broken in and you can actually move your ankle to shift gears.
As always, great video, love your content! I've had these same boots for almost two years now and same exact experience. I've dropped my KTM 790 on it several times with no damage to me or the boots. They have held up very well and keep feet dry. Squeaky but I can live with that. I'm thinking of a MX boot for my dual sport single track days but not sure yet. Love these boots!
Missed giving you the affiliate % by 4 days. Done two rides in them in our OR rain this week. I agree the comfort and protection for the price is hard to beat. Switching from combat boots to these and from street touring to klring, I might add that the feel on the controls is an adjustment for me. Looking to buy the lower peg mounts and tusk control levers once I get up the courage to tell my wife i need to buy more stuff for my budget bike.
After much research and reviews, I concede and get your pick! These Alpinestars Corozal Boots! And, they only had the brown color, LOL! I hope they work out! As an older returning rider, these new 'super boots' are a mystery to me! Hope I can shift with these beasts/boots!
I have the Alpinestar Corozal boots as well. I've used them for a couple years now, but recently upgraded to Garne Fastback Enduro boots. The reason for the upgrade is basically more protection for offroad use. I found that I need a little more protection on a BDR trip this past summer. Don't get me wrong, the Corozals are great for pure adventure riding, but lack a little in the off pavement department. What I like about the Corozals, comfort, and they are waterproof and windproof. What I don't like, I can bend the toes back with my hand and the side hinge can be bent over if pushed hard enough too. If I find myself pavement riding in the winter time waiting for the snow to melt in the mountains, I'll wear my Corozals, but in the summer on BDR or something I know I will be off pavement the Fastback. Just my thoughts on this boot.
@@MattPerry the corozal boots are similar in height at the toe box to a hiking boot. I had to raise my shifter in order to get the boot underneath it. It's a fairly big boot in the toe box area
@@DorkintheRoad lol, the boot separated from the sole on my left foot. I’m thinking there must have been some sort of manufacturing defect, because they only lasted about 2 years.

Nice review! looks like although less expensive than the Toucan (which I own) the Corozal appear to be more durable. The Toucan uses some sort of synthetic soft rubber on one of the surfaces that teared off within less than two years. A local shoe maker replaced those by heavy leather to fix that fault. The other thing is the Toucan's soles wears quickly. Mines do not look as good as yours after two years. But unlike the Corazol, the soles on the Toucan can be replaced. Once done with the Toucan. Thanks to you, I'll give the Corazol a shot :-) Thanks!!!
I wear the Belize which are "short" version of these. I have had them since 2019. I will be uograding to these for a little more leg protection this season or next. Thx for the review. - Frank
hey i was wondering if the Belize and or these boots squeak like the tech 7s do. it drives me nuts and the t7 are too much for day to day shananagns anyways
Greetings Dork in the Road: I know everything is a compromise, but it seems you lucked out in your fall! Not sure you would have faired quite so well if it had been rock instead off sand you had your foot trapped in! I will probably go with either an MX or ENDURO level protection for my off road riding.

I just got a pair in today based on your recommendation they fit perfect right out of the box and mine don’t make noise when I walk yet. The problem is I can’t get my pants over them cause I have huge calves. That’s for all these reviews you do.
I just bought a pair. I have my other MX Alpinestars don't flex for my off road trips. I am still exploring the boots. Hope they do good . I have a Lil problem shifting. Thanks for the recommendation. 👍🏼
@Matt Perry The Alpinestars Corzol boots adventure is what I am wearing now. I have had them a few weeks now. Great boot. I had to hand break them in and then I started wearing them. I shift well with them. Way better then the mx boots.
I wear the Belize model. I really like them. I typically don’t do well in higher boots, even though they give you added protection. They just aren’t as comfy for the way my legs are built. Love my Belize ones though, for sure. Don’t drink and campfire? Blasphemy!!
Wait a bit more - your feet will grow. I went from a 9-1/2 for YEARS, then in my late 50's I suddenly found myself buying 11-1/2" boots. Shoulda been upsizing for a few years and didn't clue in until I went to our local Runners Den where they have folks that know their stuff. So far, I seem to reach a plateau. So. Heads up, you have more than a prostate exam to look forward to. :D
I purchased through your portal the alpine stars you reviewed here. If you feel I should purchase a different boot for my broken leg please let me know. Thank you for all the videos
Ben, nice long term review on the Corazol. How is the lateral support holding up? I was debating between these and the Forma Adventures and the Toucans, for almost a year. I chose the Corazol as I think they offer the most bang for the buck. Thanks, Rich S.
Very informative thank you. How flexible are the ankles? Im looking for something thats as safe as possible without forcing me to lift/ restricting to shifts etc like on an MX boot
Nice boot update…look like some great boots. I recently bought the Forma Adv low boots…similar but different. Thanks for the video Internet riding buddy! 👍👍👍
I bought the Forma Adventure tall boots last spring. Love them. Saved my leg when I hit a deer. Great walking comfort once broke in. Good traction and shank carries weight well when standing on pegs. They clean easy and still look new after one year.
I got the shorter version of these (Belize) and love them. Use them for riding when doing street/light offroad which is 90% of my riding. Very comfortable for all day riding. Not hiking or long walking boots, but that isn't what they are designed for. Heavier offroad I use my Alpinestars Tech 3's, which are also awesome in my opinion.
How do they compare to stiff but broken in motocroots boots for walking, I notice your walk is like wearing motocross boots maybe not quite as stiff though.
I was looking at the oneal sierra but my best friend, who this dork here reminds me of, lol convinced me to go alpinestar. Its and extra hundred bucks but worth it, says he
If they only had replaceable soles… I’m wearing their little brothers, the Belize. Will be moving to a taller boot soon. Maybe these, maybe the Gaerne Fastback, which are only bombproof, not waterproof. Or maybe Corozals. Not sure yet.
Do these boot have hard toes? Reason i ask is if i want to wear them at work they require a safety toe....obviously i dont want to do this all the time. Sometimes id like to ride to work and hit the the trails on the way home.
Hi Ben, great vid - thanks for sharing. So you mentioned why you don't wear the Corozals trail riding but why don't you wear the Tech 7's for all your riding - too rigid or bulky in comparison, or?
If the Tech 7s are a pure motocross boot then they're not waterproof at all. My experience with pure moto boots is if you even look at a puddle your feet will get wet.
I also wearTech 7s and even though they aren't a hiking boot they will protect your foot, ankle and sides of your legs very well and they are very comfortable for riding. A friend in new Formas hurt the side of his leg pretty bad this last weekend. Be careful of boots with a lot of side flex. There is a trade off like anything else.
Morning, great review, Just have 1 question. How are these boots for ankle roll? Do they offer protection protection for medial and lateral ankle injuries?
@@DorkintheRoad Just pulled the trigger on these boots, ordered a less expensive pair, then did more reading and online "research" came back to this video. Cancelled the cheaper boots and made the plunge. Thanks for the honest review, like the channel! Enjoy the riding season and stay safe!
New to ADV,, KLR 650. Bought Motocross boots, cant shift the bike even with aftermarket shifter adjusted high, REALLY hard to hit the rear brake,, they not doubt give good protection, but I cant safely ride the bike. I need flex to run the shifter and brake,,I'm size 14,,,help Dork!!!
I recently wrecked my KLR at low speed on gravel road. I broke my leg tib and fib. I have hardware in my leg now. I did not have boots. What boot would you recommend.
I would love to see you do a comparison between these and the tech 3 enduro boots I have tech 7's from my dirt bike racing days and those were amazing on the bike (not so much off the bike) so not interested in the tech 7 enduro's for adv and even trail riding for that matter
Thanks for the information. I've been looking at either these or the Belize. Did you consider the Belize? Are they just a 'step down' from the Corozal? I do know they are shorter and I'm not real fond of that part.
@@DorkintheRoad I just scored the Toucan's Amazon Warehouse "LIKE NEW" for $350....BOOM. The universe hath provided! I really wanted the Tech7 Enduros but they KILLED the arches in my feet to the point I couldn't wear them. Corozals and Toucans must be flatter and feel perfect. I'm happy to have the extra protection in the Toucan to get me slightly closer to the Tech7's.
I rode in Lowa Rengade hiking boots. Dropped my Honda Trail 125 on it today in Clinton, OK at 0.5 mph. It pinned my leg for a minute. My ankle is very broken & now I need to figure out how to get it to California. If anyone wants a paid-for adventure ride, come ride my bike to California for me for free. I’m dead serious. All I ask as compensation is you break it, you fix/buy it lol. I’ll fly you back home if you want too
Hello Mr. D, Question for you- How stiff are the Corozal boot against side force? Do they provide good ankle support? I was initially looking to purchase the Forma boot but found it has very little side-to-side ankle shear protection. Does the Corozal give good protection? Can they be easily folded from side to side? Eric, Black Swan Odysseys
Great review. I'm actually in the market for riding boots. I've been using.. don't laugh 🤣🤣... steel toe work boots (cowboy boot style) for the last year or so. I was using motocross boots and they sucked.
Better then nothing lol. Motocross boots can be uncomfortable af. I can't feel my rear brake till I push it past 50% in them. More of a danger hazard than the extra protection is worth.
How do these feel compared to an MX style boot? That's what I am suing now but man are they stiff and super uncomfortable. I'm looking for something that feels almost like a work boot, I think? I hate not feeling my levers.... I'm a completely new rider so I'm still trying to feel my way around.
Im wondering if they are really true to size. I found a new pair size 11 for 175. Im size 10. So Im thinking an 11 is going to be a little big even with heavy socks. Its about a 20 mile drive to check them out so anyone think they run a little small?
Buy it for life? I have never worn a pair of boots more than about two seasons. Not due to failure of the boots, but due to the smell. Seems like I find myself in water over the top of the boots once a month, and unless I bake them in the oven for an hour or two on the “warm” setting, the downhill slide into toxic funk begins. Hint - Do this when your spouse and/or roommates are out of the house... That said, I decide on what I am willing to pay for gear based on imagining the injury without the gear, and then with lesser gear. I have never said to myself “I don’t need a functioning brain THAT much,” so I can save some money on a cheap helmet. I also like to be able to walk around, and I often ride into the bush alone, so good gear and an emergency beacon are must-haves.

Love the t-shirt!
Great video! Thanks!
Thanks. Lucky timing because I need some genuine moto boots.
I forget I'm wearing boots this protective. They're very easy to shift in.
Same. Most comfortable riding boots I’ve ever tried.
I got the shorter version of these (Belize) and love them. Use them for riding when doing street/light offroad which is 90% of my riding. Very comfortable for all day riding. Not hiking or long walking boots, but that isn't what they are designed for.
Heavier offroad I use my Alpinestars Tech 3's, which are also awesome in my opinion.
which boots are hotter in summer? tech 3 or corozal?
@@александррыбачев-ж4у The Tech 3 probably the hotter, due to their stiffer construction and length.
How do they compare to stiff but broken in motocroots boots for walking, I notice your walk is like wearing motocross boots maybe not quite as stiff though.
Love my Corezal's. All but the squeaking.
So much squeaking!
Looks like a great boot. I currently have Forma's but those seam comparable.
What kind of protection is there on the inside of the calf and ankle? Some of the boots I've been looking at have no protection there.
Hi Ben, great vid - thanks for sharing. So you mentioned why you don't wear the Corozals trail riding but why don't you wear the Tech 7's for all your riding - too rigid or bulky in comparison, or?
The tech 7s are not easy to walk or shift in
If the Tech 7s are a pure motocross boot then they're not waterproof at all.
I've had bad ankles all my life and I have no concerns with these
@@DorkintheRoad Just pulled the trigger on these boots, ordered a less expensive pair, then did more reading and online "research" came back to this video.
Yeah they screwed up with the new KLR. Can't adjust the shift lever up like you need to. I managed in my alpinestars corozals though
Hey Ben!! Awesome Review! Please help me out... i have wide calves.. 21" at the widest.. do you think they would fit?
I also have wide calves and so far so good
I recently wrecked my KLR at low speed on gravel road.
I think they're basically exactly the same, just shorter.
Are they still holding up
How did you find the sizing? In the tech 7’s I find the US9 are too small and the US10’s are too big.
how is the toe space, is it narrow or wide? I wear Dr. Martens regularly, are they as wide as the toe on docs or are they narrower?
Very wide
how do you score breathability?
Nice! I wear a size 15 though. They dont make these that big.
I'm trying to choose between the Tech7 Enduro and the Corozal Drystar....What do you think?
Both great boots. More street = Corozal. More off road = Tech 7.
Hey there, I'm seriously looking at the new 2022 KLR 650. Does ABS make a big difference on this bike ? Thanks
On the street yes. Off the pavement, no
Crystal did the same thing the same weekend ! She said it would have broken her foot with out them ..
Good thing she was geared up!
Hey from south county Oregon... I have also accidently drunk a 12 pack also. Go figure.
I’ll fly you back home if you want too
I tried those on yesterday, immediate pressure on the ankles, actually painful, maybe just a bad pair?
Hello Mr. D, Question for you- How stiff are the Corozal boot against side force? Do they provide good ankle support? I was initially looking to purchase the Forma boot but found it has very little side-to-side ankle shear protection. Does the Corozal give good protection? Can they be easily folded from side to side?

What dirt bike do you recommend for 12 year olds and 5’5
Great review.
Dry feet during winter riding? Priceless.
Yeah it's pretty dang nice.
Size 13 not available but I clicked it for ya.
I know this is an old video. I needed a better boot than what I have. Just ordered these I don't care about the squeak everyone talks about. Cheers
Im wondering if they are really true to size. I found a new pair size 11 for 175. Im size 10. So Im thinking an 11 is going to be a little big even with heavy socks. Its about a 20 mile drive to check them out so anyone think they run a little small?
Beat boot I have had !!
Did you see my ad for that Shoe Fresh product? I've been using it in these and it works super well. No smell at all.
@@DorkintheRoad I did not see that ad. Sounds like it is worth a try. Definitely better than tossing my boots every two or three years.
Surely a rinse in clean water + an electrical boot dryer would be worth your while?
@@SajmonDK Hard to take with me in on the back of a bike in Ecuador where I was touring, but a good idea for a home base.

What are useing now
I'm on the NorCal BDR right now and these are the boots I'm wearing.
@@DorkintheRoad ride safe Ben looking forward to the videos
amigo!How u doing?-Like. what a amazing picture-
Really I just want a boot that isn’t hard to shift and had good flex I’m used to shifting by moving my ankle not my whole foot ,
Dear Mr Dork: I have wide feet. Will they fit? Can I stand on the pegs all day without crushing my piggies in foot prisons?
I got a pair from Santa.
Don't drink and campfire .. but . .. is that even possible?
you never showed how they flex...
