How many different blues artists have done this? Albert King, Stevie Ray Vaughan Magic Slim & the Teardrops & the list goes on. This, by Tab Benoit is as good a rendition as any. Originally written & performed by Carl Perkins.
Lawd have mercy...this man is so awesome in a class all by himself....what he does when he plays and sing I cant even explain...down to the Marrow! Good Gawd
I came across this video by accident, literally. I'm glad I had that accident! Now I gotta learn this song right here! Only thing that sucks is once I learn it, I'm not going to like it as much. So, I am going to take my time learning it! One thing that doesn't suck is once i learn it I can play it Live and I'll like that!! Musicians know exactly what i'm sayin.
great cover of blues standard first recorded by Blind Lemon Jefferson in 1927, lyrics have evolved over time but the great line from 1927 is still there "wonderin' would a match box hold my clothes"
And regarding the bassman, as you can easily observe, he plays great. So, what can we learn out of this: How someone looks like doesn't matter at all, it doesn't say anything at all about this person. ;-)
I was watching him one time around 04' here in Reno, when he finished one of his numbers I think he might have had 3 strings left and if he'd gone a minute longer, probably would have finished the song with two maybe!
@@toadjam12000 it's been so many years I don't even remember, but apparently the drummer looked just like the younger brother on the old bike build show or I wouldn't have said it, that's all✌️
Like fine wine Tab and Corey only get better!
We may not be able to listen to SRV live anymore but God did grace us with Tab. He makes my soul smile.

When the guys in the band all got big smiles, you know they were cookin'!!!!

Tab's version is closer to Albert King's than to Carl Perkins' who claimed to have written it but in truth he didn't.
His Telecaster looks like as a Guitar shoud do.
Will a matchbox hold my clothes!

Tab Rips, And on drums....MIKEY from Orange County Choppers.

TOM PIPPS . FOAM - BATON ROUGE LOUISIANA USA . I LINK THE MUSIE .
They kinda lost the tempo near the end there but great version.
One of my favorite performers, but the cameraman needs to lay off the coffee and/or drugs.
Play some blues
