My mother-in-law (Mexican) used to make tamales including sweet ones. She was one of those woman who did not want to share her recipes (at least not with me). Since she died my husband has not been able to enjoy sweet tamales. I tried on my own, unsuccessfully. I told him about your recipe and he wants raisins instead of pecans. I guess this is what happens when your mother-in-law wanted her son to marry a nice little Mexican girl instead of a Caucasian girl!

I made these today, the masa has a fantastic flavor, however they weren't oozing with caramel, seems life the caramel cooked into the masa. what happened?😥 I put in a lot too.
