A truly excellent speed-run of one of my favourites! It's also quite funny, watching the Avatar sprint around in his pyjamas waving bits of mushed up magical debris around and rudely gabbling through all his conversations
Thanks - had a lot of fun creating this speedrun and glad I spent the time on refining it. There are still a couple of areas where mistakes make me cringe, but hopefully nobody else notices :)
Amazing stuff here. I've played through the game numerous times without using cheats, but for speed runs they sure help! Wow you destroyed Dorstag and his band with the magic. I remember that being a big deal normally, haha. Excellent run overall and I appreciate the commentary you left. Thank you for putting this together. YOU ROCK!!! :D
Guardian: Summons a blackrock dome Everybody in the castle: Oh no! Were gonna die of thirst and hun... Avatar: Nope, I've already shattered the barrier since half an hour!
Without the internet to seach for a walkthrough these games were a real challenge. Of course there were monthly game magazines, but it you missed to buy the right one or maybe only brought the first part of 3 parts in total you may have had a problem in the 90s. Kids nowadays would not understand what made us play the same game for months untill it was finished.
You take mere seconds to get through the Tomb of Praecor Loth. When I first played this game way back when, it took days for me to figure that place out.
AchtungBaby77 that red square is actually one of the Guardian's traps. if you don't move the candles then you get transported to a dangerous area in the ethereal void. His laugh is anticipating the trap being sprung :)
In Ultima Underworld 1 you had the silver tree seed which revived you after your death, but was there ever an explaination given that you cannot die and u return to the portal stone in UW 2?
Not in the usual sense. If you die in Britannia, it's game over. However, if you die in any of the other worlds, you're transported back to the Blackrock Gem in Britannia, albeit with a heap of experience points deducted.
The only thing I’m trying to figure out is the restore game sequences. I’ve played this game over 100 times and I’m not sure if you found some other glitch, or are reloading other game saves that you had made earlier.
I did this recording in segments, so the restore game sequences are at the start and end of each segment. It was a bit clearer before UA-cam decided to remove annotations from videos.
i talked to altara before talking to mystell. now no options to warn altara on mystell plot appear. are you telling me i have to start another game? i can't believe there's such bug, it's not even documented in bugs listings.
@@gammadragon2 I never did talk to Nanna at all when I played through one point and it did lock up when I tried going to the third area. I could not progress. I may try it again to see if it locks up again.
@@Vayank123 Have you done all the main quest tasks? To unlock Killorn Keep and Ice Caverns, you need to obtain the Prison Tower blackrock gem, then talk to Miranda. See here for list of objectives: kb.speeddemosarchive.com/Ultima_Underworld_II
Over 30 years and i m still waiting for this strike to be over, so i can continue the game. Should be anytime soon now, maybe next week. I m pretty certain.

Fantastic Job! Such a new take on the epic game, seeing it on a speed run. This game used to both scare and amaze me back in the day!
Glad you like it. Please consider becoming a "verifier" for this speedrun over at the SpeedDemosArchive forums.
Guardian: Summons a blackrock dome
Everybody in the castle: Oh no! Were gonna die of thirst and hun...
Avatar: Nope, I've already shattered the barrier since half an hour!
25 minutes actually 😂
Very nice speed run.
I think I was 11 or 12 when I got this game. It took me around 2 years to finish.
Allan same! I was 11 or so, the underworld games scared the shit outta me but I loved them! Took me years to finally beat them

Dude you are my hero.
Wasn't this game had also introduced a deep water element and player can even swim on it ??
You could swim, drown and use a walk-on-water spell.
22 Mins You are CRAZY i always explored everything But you are just Crazy Good at this

240p is an insult to this amazing run.
I think I still have the original recording from DOSBox. Also I believe it's available in higher quality from Speed Demos Archive
Ahh, the squishy death sound still satisfies.
Who or what is that laugh at 3:50?
I never remember that from when I played the game originally.

Interesting! A very cool little detail from an era where speech in games was extremely rare.
As much as I respect speed runs, especially this one, but this takes out all the excitement and atmosphere of this gem.
That can be said for every speed run though. You're basically breaking the game to finish it as fast as possible
Get in touch with AGDQ, I'm sure a lot of people would love to see this!
Lag.com registered to do this at one AGDQ, but got knocked back because the game is a bit old and most viewers would have a hard time following it :/
Pfff how lame. This year had the most obscure lineup of games ever. I'll continue to pffff for a bit now...
Very nice job gamma :)

@alfonszitterbacke318 I don't think they really explain it in the game. Just friendly game mechanics 😁
Is there a respawn capability, like the silver sapling in the first one?

Love the way you froze time and stole Mors Gotha’s book from under her dress!

You can progress Altara's subquest by asking her if she knows Bishop, after finishing his subquest in the Prison Tower.
@@JFTC709 thanks. I finished the game two months ago, was able to progress in the quest somehow although can't remember how.
How were you able to bypass Nanna and the strike that happens after exploring Killorn Keep. You won't be able to progress after that point.
If you never talk to Nanna, the servants strike never begins and you can completely avoid that part of the story.

Determinedly Avatar breaches through to victory!
How many times did this guy die? Crap
Man, Jamie Foxx is op in this game.
had to wait an entire 11 minutes for you to throw a potion or scroll against the wall nice
not sure this game is even winnable without that bug/cheat
It is.
