Prefer Gakpo on the left over Diaz or Gordon. The lad has shown he's a top player when played in position and I'd happily see him being given that spot next season.
Gakpo should be in the conversation. He's playing unreal at LW for Netherlands. I don't think we need to spend so much for Gordon when the money can be invested elsewhere.
One thing i think with the Gordon deal is i get he provides similar numbers going forward but when he's at it he's a genuine force to be reckoned with, he's young and i think his numbers will improve so that already puts him ahead of diaz but i also think gordon is very superior physically in terms of how he presses and his will to win tackles from the fromt which i feel has been what we've been lacking so much, the press starts from the front and its one of the reasons why we are so easy to play through, we need to get back to hunting in packs and having strategic presses, with the actual will to win the ball
I'd say to Salah - Either you sign and extension (1-2 years, max) by the end of July, or we sell you. We cannot afford to lose him for free. If we sell him, buy Williams (21, super talent) And Gordon. Williams starts as RW, Diaz/Gordon as backups. Gakpo as LW and Nuñez/Jota as CF (depending on their form and injuries.
This kid is more like mane than diaz. Diaz is more skilful and is more of a playmaker winger.. Gordon is lightning, direct and has an eye for a goal. I love the fact he’s a boyhood fan too. You know hes going to bleed for the shirt (not saying Diaz doesn’t- lord knows he’s a Colombian warrior!!)
I wouldn't say Gordon is an upgrade on Diaz really. Remember he was the main man when Isak was injured. He might get less numbers at a team who have the ball more and with Salah and Nunez playing. I like him a lot but to me swapping Diaz with him isn't a great deal if we're paying £80m odd for him. If we could get 50 for Diaz and 60 for Gordon then maybe
Diaz is world class I'm totally baffled that so many fans want to sell him especially for 50 million... I wouldn't entertain anything below 70 million.. Gordon is a great player but its debatable whether he's an upgrade on Diaz
Diaz is a good player but he likes an injury, he's been here three seasons and managed one full season, having less than half seasons the other two. Add to that a really poor goal and assist return... Not against the lad, I'm happy if he stays, but I'm fine if he goes too.
apart from the age factor the one big reason I would like Gordon in the team is he is much more keen to provide for the central area, he is much more likely to create something, Nunez would benefit massively from having Gordon next to him, you can count the amount of times Diaz passed the ball to Nunez on your hands, he doesnt create shit for him, he runs around a lot, he speculates way too much and tries to do too much on his own rather than keeping it simple, get into the position, make your way through, pass it for the striker, he needs to be doing that more because he has the ability but needs to use it better, hoping Slot can help him with the output and improve his game
He’s actually much more direct than Diaz, you know something is gonna happen when he has the ball. He has better physical attributes, can play on all front 3, much better workrate, stamina, defensive contribution, intelligence off the ball, playing as inverted winger getting those long balls from Trent. Better end product, that big game clutch factor too. Above all much higher g/a stats than Diaz. With all that considered, Diaz‘s probably at his peak football age and injury prone. Gordon can ONLY get better. Best left winger last season.
@xixo4798 naa mate...the only thing I agree with you is that Gordon has a better g/a than Diaz...which is a fact. Other than that I don't think Gordon tops Diaz in any other departments. You talk about work rate and Diaz is like Kuyt in that department. He's as direct if not better than Gordon. It's just that it's not that the same as playing for Newcastle as playing for Liverpool, is it? 80-85% of teams sit back against us so it will look like Diaz isn't direct l, but he would look much more direct than Gordon if let's say Gordon was playing for Man City....it's just the way it is. The bottom line is in my opinion Gordon is not an upgrade on Diaz for at least the next 2 seasons.
It does matter that he's scouse if your outside of Liverpool. I'm no fool. I understand it is to see your own in red plus the bonus of never leaving anything on the field for effort. Just look at Elliott and TAA. Great show lads.
The Gordon transfer sounds realistic. PSR aside Newcastle have about 20 Home Grown players and they are probably not desperate to keep him to balance the squad.
The benefit of signings being scouse (or even just British) is that they’re less likely to agitate for a move abroad compared to South Americans like Diaz, Suarez etc. You can get almost a full career of service out of them - see Hendo, Robbo or the likes of Rio and Rooney when Fergie signed those guys.
Gakpo is having a great tournament playing on the left for the Dutch, he would be my first choice on the left for us. Gordon is a quality player and like Chris I think he will become a Liverpool player at some point. As for a chalanger and eventual replacement for Salah I would get malen
@@grlfcgombeenhunter2897 yep at the moment I agree that's why I said I would get malen, he plays mainly on the right for club and country and he combined well with gakpo today
When we signed Diaz he was amazing, electric, brilliant and the first player to brake up the sacred front 3. Also the start of the 22/23 season we was shit but he was probably the best player in the league, then he got that knee injury against Arsenal, unfortunately he hasn't been the same player since, he's still been a very good player though.
To harsh on Diaz, he went through a few things other footballers would consider a nightmare. He has still performed great and i hope he can kick on this season. Never let LFC down and has shown great mental endurance.
People keep saying we carnt afford Nico Williams wages but his value after a 5 year contract he would be worth we’ll over 100 mil so we would get are money back so why not snap him up plus would go all out for him and musiala
Interesting question from Josh about the silhouette thing. I think I'll have good chance if it was under Klopp. Slot throws abit of a curveball for me.
Josh saying Gakpo got a chance last season, and he was anonymous playing in the 10... that's exactly why chris is saying he'd like him to get a run of games FROM THE LEFT. It isn't rocket science, he's class from the left.
Gordon isn’t that great of a footballer but I would accept him at Liverpool. Anything over 50mil and it’s a NO! I wouldn’t move on Diaz even in Gordon comes in. Gordon is not an adequate replacement to take us to 3rd or better.
For those of us that love Liverpool from afar, it does matter when Scousers full the team. I feel in love when I was 9 when we won the treble with Fowler, Owen, Carra, Stevie just peeking in. It made me believe in the homegrown ethos.
Don't understand why Diaz gets the stick he gets, he literally carried our attack second half of the season, if Summerville's going for around 40m how's Diaz going for 50m?
I think we should get Gordon IF we sell Diaz. Homegrown always helps, another scouser too. But with the way gakpo is playing that LW for the Netherlands and Slot obviously watching every game, I 100% see gakpo playing the left wing at the start of the season over both of them.
I want both. Even though it's more likely. I'd love to see them both in same team, one can play on the right, no problem. Salah won't start next season for Liverpool
hey Chris - don't speak for us Reds who are not from Liverpool... we understand the 'local lad' mindset and i personally think it's massively important to have local lads who are fans of the club playing, especially when they're good enough
Wouldn't surprise me at all if Liverpool were to only do minimal business this window. Sort the goalies and replace Matip and let Slot work with the team and see what he thinks is lacking. Really clean house next summer then.
All these stats thats been thrown at you, might be irrelevant under Slot. He might want Diaz to get to the byline more often. All these Stats are under Klopps system

Gordon is bang average, the talk of letting Diaz going to make way for him is disappointing. Diaz is 10 times the player Gordon is. I'm shocked people can't see that.
I like Diaz but gotta say Gordon is an upgrade imo. Would love to get him. He can play right side too. He would have better output than diaz no doubts and he works hard too. Only reservation is price obviously. Is he 50m better? (Diaz 50, Gordon 100) Tbey ain't selling for less.
