This is the best free poker content out there thank you guys! I’ve noticed in my games that people often fold too wide to CBETS in 3 and 4-bet pots. It’s an exploit that’s made me a lot of $$$
that's super typical and a huge money maker. People don't realize you can't just play fit or fold on flop vs those small c-bets in 3/4-bet pots. And to be fair to them, playing tight in those spots is usually a decent exploit because most people aren't that aggressive when 3-betting/4-betting and in 3/4-bet pots. But it leaves a huge hole for good players like you to exploit.
Excellent series. Question: does the wider value 4 bet IP (10s and JJ) reflect our positional advantage directly or the likely wider 3bet range of the OOP opponent?
How do you think our 4betting range changes in low stakes live games? Im just starting to play live and 3betting is pretty uncommon and I don’t think people really 3 bet bluff, honestly it feels like most people’s 3-bet range is the GTO 4-bet range. Should I just 4-bet linearly? the other thing I see is that people hate getting pushed around preflop (i mean these are the kind of stakes where players get upset if you even raise preflop) so they tend to be pretty sticky and call to most 3bets (I honestly haven’t 4bet in live yet bc I’ve only played a few hours to check it out and Ive honestly only been 3bet a few times)
lol sounds like you're playing 1/2 or 1/3 - people bitching about preflop raises are standard at those stakes which gets irritating - players at 2/5 are a lot more understanding
When you have issues in life and want to feel manly or record a video and when you get shoved on you say "oh it was a rng 4b, i dont do that that often"
Who do I “have” to have 4bet bluffs, say from Lj vs a BB 3bet. My opponents will always fold worse and only continue better, so by 4bet bluffing I seemingly just lose more money than I need to
are you asking why? It's to balance your 4-bet range and take advantage of the times they do fold to your 4-bet. I don't know why you say they will always fold worse and only continue better. But even if that's true, getting them to "fold worse" is not a bad thing. Suppose you 4-bet A5s and they fold KQo. You just got them to fold ~40% equity. That's a victory. As we often say on this show, if you know your opponents are playing a certain way, you can and should adjust. E.g. if you know the guy is very tight when 3-betting, you don't have to 4-bet bluff. But in theory and versus decent+ opponents, you do *have* to 4-bet bluff sometimes (if you want to maximize your win-rate).
It all depends on your opponents frequency. If your opponent very rarely 4 bets with non nutted hands such as A5 suited AJ, KQ etc then you should not be 4 betting said opponent. I would have a very wide range of when calling a three bet. Never am I 4 betting those tight players. So AA, KK etc are calls rather than 4 bets. That way when I call my tight opponents 3 bets I could have AA, KK etc.
This guy talks way too fast and being that he has an accent…it sounds all garbled (Gary). You guys want to cover lots of info but it hurts the ears to listen to you guys….very poor…
Sorry to hear the show moves a bit too fast for your tastes, TJ! You could try changing the playback speed to 0.75, or maybe the show just isn't for you -- nothing wrong with that!
@@garyblackwoodpoker Gary, you are just fine the way you speak. All TJ needs to do is take Mike's advice and slow the speed down to .75. Maybe he's new to the game and doesn't understand the terminology , which is fine, but please don't change anything because one person is having trouble understanding. Thanks
Mike and Gary - nothing wrong with the speed or accents. Heck, I even speed you up to 1.25x sometimes. TJ just probably isn't a great/fluent English speaker or doesn't have great poker theory fundamentals to understand the content. Keep up the great work!

This video series is great!
One of my biggest leaks has always been 4 betting too high, I always thought a 4 bet has to be at least 3x the size and 4x for better “fold ability”
