Always did think of this one as a bit of a roller coaster of emotions episode. From the boss at the beginning, the revelation and duel, then the ending. It never lets up and causes so many feels, it's amazing....
I know that you may have already clued in to it since it has been so long since you made these videos, but I figured I’d give an extra perspective. Do you remember the revival crystal from episode three or four? It’s item description said it was capable of reviving someone if it was administered within the first ten seconds of their death in the game. So that means that for it to actually work, there has to be at the very least a ten, probably somewhere closer to fifteen to twenty, second delay from the moment of their death in the game to the moment the nerve gear was set to destroy their brains. My theory is that because of that time period, they would be sent to that invisible platform overlooking the floating castle of Aincrad for a short while before they were actually killed so that they could see the whole thing for one last time. Since Asuna died, and Kirito died and killed Heathcliff (Akihiko Kayaba) within a short amount of time, they were still within the timeframe of being able to be resurrected and they were all sent to the “death lobby” per sé. However, the execution order was never actually carried through, because the moment that Heathcliff was defeated, the cardinal system was shut down; stopping all of its processes, including death. So, yes the other nearly four thousand people died, but those who were killed seconds before the game was cleared were spared, and Kirito was able to wake up after death, unlike so many others. Thank you so much for all these videos! I’ve been staying up all night binging these and it’s so amazing to see your take on them and see you go through so many of the thoughts and processes I did years ago when I first watched this anime. I love the videos and I really hope to see more, of both your second season and I hope you go over the two parts of the newer third season as well! Sword Art Online never gets old for me and is priceless every time. I’m looking forward to it! Thanks again!
Everyone who died in Sao actually died for real irl. The only reason kirito and asuna didnt die is because there is a short delay before the NVG fries your brain. During that time Kayaba/Heathcliff/GM teleported both of them to safety before they died irl.
"Kirito was able to clear the game before the micro-waves were activated to fry him" Could be. Asuna stepping in front of a blade is suicide. According to the deal she can't. So, safe.
First time I saw this episode I cried a good bit. Came downstairs from my room with tears in my eyes only to get a weird look from my parents. If you don't plan on continuing this series I recommend RWBY. One of my favorite shows.

"how is he doing that? Did he use the crystal?!?? HOW IS HE DOING THAT" He glitched the system by a sheer determination to stay alive. This is later referred to as 'Incarnation' and is often represented by those yellow eyes of his

I only just now realized his real reason for creating the world. His dream was to achieve exactly what kirito did by accident. Forge a connection with someone. He was a loner who didn't have much connection to people in the real world and couldn't relate to anyone. However, if he was placed in a world in which how hard you try and how long you work does directly effect your wealth and power? Working 20 hour days all of a sudden is guarenteed to help and eventually you will be forced into close quarters with someone who will eventually appreciate you, given enough time.. and assuming you aren't an asshole. Unfortunately for him, he was an asshole.. but at least Kirito got to love someone who he never would have even met if it wasn't for SAO. Unlike real like, in which the amount of work required for something does not really have much of a relation to the benefit. You spend 10 years mining coal for 20 dollars an hour, and you won't be able to lift a house to show your efforts... but someone who spoke for 10 years on a successful podcast can buy a house to show off their efforts..
Kirito (Kazuto) was able to survive due to him winning the game within 10 seconds of him being "killed" (which was the window to revive players) therefore the nerve gear didn't get the chance to fry his brainbox.
Remember when his eyes turned gold when he defeated Kayaba. That is the moment when... Nahh I will wait until you finish the season. Not gonna spoil anything
God this episode was so sad the sadness in Asunas voice when Kirito asked him to make sure she could kill herself broke my heart. The dub actors did a great job and this anime is probably one of my favorite story wise.(well season 1)
If I was Kirito, I would cry from waking up like that too. It's scary to know how much a virtual environment can do to you though. I always cry when Kirito does. Strong but emotional at the right moments.
I like to think that Klien used the revive crystal kirito gave him during the Christmas Event while fighting the commander which kinda explains why he died then came back for a moment
This is exactly my thought and to add on that I think why Asuna survived is because Kirito cleared the game within 10 seconds of her dying wich is the revival period.
And just like that, the first known case of Will Incarnate was born within the Cardinal System. Overriding the system through will power. Something that becomes much more prevalent in the Alicization Arc due to the STL and a person's fluctlight being part of the processor. Something that doesn't get named until Accel World, some 20ish years after Kirito duels Kayaba. Edit: If you think back at when Kirito fought the Christmas raid boss for the res item, it said to use it within a certain time frame after the player dies. There is a minute delay between dying in the game and dying IRL. Kirito managed to clear the game in less than a minute after Asuna died so she never got zapped.
Basically Kirito uses the incarnate system. (the incarnate system is the "power of the imagination" that was implemented by kayaba into the game / seed ) it gets more explained in the Alicization ark
That platform that they were standing on that was overlooking the castle is where all the players who died went while the system was deleting their avatars. However, since kirito and asuna beat the game, it logged everyone out and the mainframe deleted the world before it finished deleting their avatars meaning that they were still technically “alive” just waiting on the servers to delete them, but it deleted itself and logged them out before it finished deleting their avatars. If their avatars had been deleted, then the nerve gear would have disabled the safety and killed them
One of the underlying themes in SAO is the ability of willpower to override and break the limitations imposed by the system. That's how Asuna was able to break admin paralysis, how Kirito was able to force himself back together to beat Kayaba. There were also hints about it earlier, Kayaba mentioned earlier that Kirito exceeded his expectations, he was able to move faster than the system was supposed to restrict him to with his stats, enough so that Kayaba had to cheat to beat him. It shows up in later arcs too, though I'm not sure if it's explicitly referenced in the series anywhere. No, we're not supposed to like him, but you don't have to like someone to understand them.
1. He was revived by cristal that he got as reward from Nicolas ( episode 2/3 ), what he gave to his friend. - --- Anime suggestion : Seven Deadly sins / Nanatsu no Taizai
He died. Then the will in his mind gave him extra seconds to kill Kayaba. Kayaba realize he can help him and releases him, alongside Asuna. This comes to play very late on the novels.
No you're wrong Kirito gave that Crystal to Klein and Klein wouldn't have been able to use the crystal right then and there since he was paralyzed But anyway Kirito survived as long he did because Kirito had so much passion to beat SAO his brain defied the system letting him not only win but letting him leave the SAO without dying
I’m pretty sure There’s an explanation on how he managed to live even though he *died*. It’s in the movie or Alicization and it goes like... There was a scraped game mechanic that basically gave the player strengths and abilities based on their will. This is from memory and I’m not even sure I got it right.
The true reason for Kayaba's deed is still unknown, but small details/connections are still being connected together. It's like a hidden meaning in the whole novel.
Lemme explain a few things: • Kirito survives because he cleared the game. Kirito killed Heathcliff/Kayaba so basically he did. • The yellow eyes/death kill while dying is called Incarnation, which you will learn about if you choose to watch onwards to halfway through Season #3 (Alicization). I don't want to spoil how Incarnation works. (Yellow eyes formerly dubbed "God Mode", "Jesus-kun" and/or "Hacker Kirito") • The 4000 dead players are still dead. The NeRvEGear still fried their brains. • You said you wish the bosses were longer. If you like manga, you might want to give SAO Progressive a read, it's a rewrite of Sword Art Online by the author himself, writing the story in complete detail, floor to floor. • The episodes to come in Season #1 is the Fairy Dance arc. Don't listen to people who are saying Episode 15 is filler, it explains the aftermath of SAO for Kirito, we meet Suguha (Kirito's "sister"), the aftermath for Asuna, and how we are introduced into the new arc. • If you continue to watch onwards from Season #1, I recommend watching in this order: Season #1, Extra Edition, Season #2, Ordinal Scale, Season #3 (or Episode 24.5 if you want Alicization Beginning in a whole episode), Season #4 (currently on air, dub planned for air February 2020) • This isn't the last we have seen of Aincrad (wink wink, nudge nudge) I love your Sword Art Online reactions so much, as well as your Naruto reactions. Thank you for the continuous efforts you put into your channel, you have become one of my favourites.
Nope highly disagree with you! Everyone would've been upset to see SAO end like this since we all wanted to know what happened with Asuna besides SAO Alicization is even better than the first season of SAO so I'm glad SAO didn't end here
The anime doesn't really mention it but in the light novel it is explained that heathcliff used his power as the admin and creator to keep asuna and kirito alive so he could talk to them which is why they survived
No its explained in the books and i think one of the comments said im SAO Alterization i think its called. I just thought it was a glitch in the system when he died and woke up out of the game. Everyone died, that much i knew. Except homegirl and him. Games have glitches too. Even in real life. I dont believe that whole plot armor BS
Remember how the Rudolph Crystal can bring back somebody who has been killed within I believe it is the last 3 minutes? Well it can't unfry someone's brain so what it must mean is that for those 3 minutes person who has died sits in limbo to see if they will be revived by the crystal but the game was cleared within 3 minutes of Kirito and Asuna dying so their brains were not fried before the program shut down. As for why he made it, the reason he explains for why he made it was "I wanted to create a world" not a game but a world I want. You can't logout of a world, you live there and if you die in the world you die, but the real point of kayaba's goal was Kirito under the tree and their family living on that floor with the pond and the fish, it was people saying the sky is beautiful today and living in that world. Kirito was Kyaba's dream.
The explanation is when you see him fall back and shatter that wasn't actually what happened, that was kirito's imagination his hp did drop to zero however he did override the system and activated the incarnate system long enough for him to attack back :D hope this explains it for you
It's all about Yui's tear because Kirito managed to put it into a game object it has special properties that overright the game code....you could say that Yui was watching over them the whole time.
nope... the 4000 something players that died during the game , actually died..
Facts guess thats why the revive crystal said administer 10 seconds after death

I would explain all your questions but I don’t wanna spoil anything lol there’s so much more to the story + other seasons! SAO is a pretty crazy ride but fun
Yeah, the new episodes are kinda really good.
Always did think of this one as a bit of a roller coaster of emotions episode. From the boss at the beginning, the revelation and duel, then the ending. It never lets up and causes so many feels, it's amazing....
This is the kind of anime I could rewatch again and again
I've always liked the idea of a castle in the sky. Fitting that we never really got to see it.
Everyone who died in Sao actually died for real irl. The only reason kirito and asuna didnt die is because there is a short delay before the NVG fries your brain. During that time Kayaba/Heathcliff/GM teleported both of them to safety before they died irl.
Nope, everyone still died, but like Kayaba said at the end "Congratulations on clearing the game"
“This is some kingdom hearts thing right here.” 🤣🤣🤣
2 years in a coma and he manages to step up and walk seconds after awakening. Now that's op.
The power of boners is a strange and wonderous thing.
RockHound32 looool y’all are too much 😂😂
@@Knight121198 Hell Yeah!
the story isn't over yet, it still continues in the second half of the season.
Never would i have ever imagined seeing a reaction to SAO's 1st season in 2020. Trust me SAO gets better lol
Season 1 SAO it top notch though better than Alicization at least
@@cameronross5708 what season would you say is the best?
17:12 "What's gonna happened to them?" Kirto:There's a reason it's called "Keeep watching, you'll see"
There's still more episodes
Suzy’s reactions give me life, I can’t wait to see her reactions to Part 2 of Season 1!
The way I understood it was that Kirito was able to clear the game before the micro-waves were activated to fry him and Asuna’s brains
"Kirito was able to clear the game before the micro-waves were activated to fry him"
Could be. Asuna stepping in front of a blade is suicide. According to the deal she can't. So, safe.
If you ever get the time for an anime film review, please watch A Silent Voice. Such an amazing film!!!
“His [ 2 ads later ] sword”

Just remember that he did it because of Metacritic
DO U KNOW HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE DIED JUMPING OFF A CLIFF SCREAMING " LEEROY JENKINS"
I loved this series, always have always will, intro and the ideals, imma so emotional rn 😭😭😭
Yesss we've been waiting for this episode for so long! 15 Tomorrow?! You need to upload faster Suzy!
First time I saw this episode I cried a good bit. Came downstairs from my room with tears in my eyes only to get a weird look from my parents.
If you don't plan on continuing this series I recommend RWBY. One of my favorite shows.
@@allankaul8331 RWBY is the main characters first name initials, and the colour they're associated with :) If you're interested, I'd recommend the Red, White, Black, and Yellow trailers first (in that order)
R = Red/Ruby
W = White/Weiss
B = Black/Blake
Y = Yellow/Yang
"how is he doing that? Did he use the crystal?!?? HOW IS HE DOING THAT"
He glitched the system by a sheer determination to stay alive. This is later referred to as 'Incarnation' and is often represented by those yellow eyes of his
Everyone that died did die. I can't wait to see what you think of the 2nd half of SAO now.
2nd half of season 1*
I'm sorry, but the moment I saw him have those flashbacks, I knew immediately what his answer was going to be. And I would have given the same answer.
Her reacción is amazing and emotive , i remember when see this episode and shout by the final scene :'(
I wait for the next episode jajaja
I wanna watch her reacción of the next episode :3
As mentioned below and in the episode the people who died in the game actually died in real life. Kirito was an exception.
Akaba:
What, Kirito is is... OVER 9.000!!!!
Asuna:
¿¿WHAT 9.000?? ¡¡THIS IS IMPOSIBLE!! THIS IS A BUG.
15:55 "Are you fu***** serious?" -Kirito
The girl that plays Asuna is the girl who plays the voice in *Ghost Hunt* you should watch that anime as well Suzy! love that anime :)
If I was Kirito, I would cry from waking up like that too.
It's scary to know how much a virtual environment can do to you though.
I always cry when Kirito does. Strong but emotional at the right moments.
6:00 AM in the morning i didnt even sleep yet and the notif just pops up, guess i need to finish this first before i go to bed ♥️♥️♥️😘
I just want to point out that with how much HP the Skull Reaper had they must have been fighting it for hours.
7:49 I'm not the emotional type of person but shit that moment got me tear up a little
The next arc is calles the 'Fairy Dance' Arc. You'll finally meet Kirito's sister/cousin
Nah, that 4000 people actually died, and ooo i've been waiting for so long for this video
Basically Kirito uses the incarnate system. (the incarnate system is the "power of the imagination" that was implemented by kayaba into the game / seed ) it gets more explained in the Alicization ark
Waiting for the second arc of S1, S2, S3 and S4 which is ongoing.
I remember watching this for the first time when I was 14 and weeping my eyes out
That moment when the villain waits for the protagonist to finish his speech
Sword art online was my first and favorite anime I ever watched
Suzy gogo Season 2 also! It's amazing aswell! :D
It's about Kirito & Asuna again you should watch it!
If their avatars had been deleted, then the nerve gear would have disabled the safety and killed them
I've been waiting for your reaction of this episode, I almost cried on this one
One of the underlying themes in SAO is the ability of willpower to override and break the limitations imposed by the system. That's how Asuna was able to break admin paralysis, how Kirito was able to force himself back together to beat Kayaba. There were also hints about it earlier, Kayaba mentioned earlier that Kirito exceeded his expectations, he was able to move faster than the system was supposed to restrict him to with his stats, enough so that Kayaba had to cheat to beat him. It shows up in later arcs too, though I'm not sure if it's explicitly referenced in the series anywhere.
No, we're not supposed to like him, but you don't have to like someone to understand them.
well becous they cleared the game its diffrent they did survive but everyone else actuley died. sorry to say :/
Suzy deserves respect. Shes a real devoted fan of anime shows
I Can't wait For the Remaining Episode.. 😍😍
1. He was revived by cristal that he got as reward from Nicolas ( episode 2/3 ), what he gave to his friend. -
--- Anime suggestion : Seven Deadly sins / Nanatsu no Taizai
He died. Then the will in his mind gave him extra seconds to kill Kayaba.
Kayaba realize he can help him and releases him, alongside Asuna.
This comes to play very late on the novels.
No you're wrong
Kirito gave that Crystal to Klein and Klein wouldn't have been able to use the crystal right then and there since he was paralyzed
But anyway Kirito survived as long he did because Kirito had so much passion to beat SAO his brain defied the system letting him not only win but letting him leave the SAO without dying
I’m pretty sure There’s an explanation on how he managed to live even though he *died*. It’s in the movie or Alicization and it goes like...
There was a scraped game mechanic that basically gave the player strengths and abilities based on their will.
This is from memory and I’m not even sure I got it right.
I think klein used the ressurection crystal and kayaba chose not to kill them
The true reason for Kayaba's deed is still unknown, but small details/connections are still being connected together. It's like a hidden meaning in the whole novel.
And just so you know Season 1 is not over yet just in case you miss take it as it is being over it is not
Lemme explain a few things:
• Kirito survives because he cleared the game. Kirito killed Heathcliff/Kayaba so basically he did.
• The yellow eyes/death kill while dying is called Incarnation, which you will learn about if you choose to watch onwards to halfway through Season #3 (Alicization). I don't want to spoil how Incarnation works. (Yellow eyes formerly dubbed "God Mode", "Jesus-kun" and/or "Hacker Kirito")
• The 4000 dead players are still dead.
• If you continue to watch onwards from Season #1, I recommend watching in this order: Season #1, Extra Edition, Season #2, Ordinal Scale, Season #3 (or Episode 24.5 if you want Alicization Beginning in a whole episode), Season #4 (currently on air, dub planned for air February 2020)
• This isn't the last we have seen of Aincrad (wink wink, nudge nudge)
I love your Sword Art Online reactions so much, as well as your Naruto reactions. Thank you for the continuous efforts you put into your channel, you have become one of my favourites.
They really should've just ended the first season on this episode
Seriously the 2nd cour of s1 sucks that i stopped watching it in the middle n directly went to final episode to see wat happens
they really should've just ended the series on this episode
Nope highly disagree with you!
Everyone would've been upset to see SAO end like this since we all wanted to know what happened with Asuna besides SAO Alicization is even better than the first season of SAO so I'm glad SAO didn't end here
The anime doesn't really mention it but in the light novel it is explained that heathcliff used his power as the admin and creator to keep asuna and kirito alive so he could talk to them which is why they survived
I Cry with u :'(
I really love this anime and i never can be tired of this awesome series 😍
Suzy: "You have to try it."
*Fails and dies*
Suzy: "OMG THAT'S NOT FAIR."
How’s he doing this you may say, well Kirito’s got main character plot armor that’s why
@@tylerspradley8618 wdym everyone died??? klein, agil, silica, lisbeth and all of kleins friends are still alive
6:10 that reaction xD I really love how you react, it's so authentic!
何回観ても感動する😭
They never explained how Kirito survived from Healthcliff's attack ?
The explanation is when you see him fall back and shatter that wasn't actually what happened, that was kirito's imagination his hp did drop to zero however he did override the system and activated the incarnate system long enough for him to attack back :D hope this explains it for you
Sullivan L his will power transcended the system
I have the theory that on the last second Klein used the item that Kirito gave him when he defeated evil santa claus.
@@byronchajon5092 That's a nice idea
It's all about Yui's tear because Kirito managed to put it into a game object it has special properties that overright the game code....you could say that Yui was watching over them the whole time.
