Here in Sydney me and my mates went she bought kids rods from Kmart to stuff around with. One of them hooked something huge and got absolutely smoked lol. Luckily the line broke at the knot instead of being spooled. Didn't want 50m of line stuck to a fish
Nice, been wanting to do one of these myself. Like $20 overnight camp or something. Wont be a comfortable night but I reckon I can do it lol. Sometimes its fun to throw away all the expensive gear and do it simply
This vid took me back to where it all started with fishing for me heading down fish my 15 dollar rodnand those exact lures and we only ever got 1 flattie with them but we thought they were the best I was just thinking the other day how different it would've been and how much fish we would've got with nicer gear like we use now lures like that have potential if u adjust the tracking and as u did just persist nice vid mate loved it
Mate , I bought one of them combos because I like fishing in tight spots , like the mangroves and bush . And a five footer with not a bad action was what I wanted . I put a Sienna with 10lb braid and 8lb fluoro leader on it and it has caught me many many fish . Caught a 42xm bass with it . 🤙🎣✔️
I have two of them rods , and love them ! I have other brand name rods , but love the little 5 footers . I use braid and fc leader though and a sienna . One of them caught me my pb bass , 46cms . 👍
At a low low price people can’t expect absolutely massive fish (it can happen…but good luck) if you want quality …put down the money for something in the 100 range ….however Jarvis walkers (the lower price jwers) are more flathead/whiting/jigging/bream/eel/maybe small school bull shark if your easy on them and let the drag do the work kinds of reels ….I’d go a absolute minimum jw 3000 graph cast ….that does alright it’s a estuary rod/reel 3-6kg Can handle 20lb Shimano exage mono….it’s like 40 bucks and has a little area to put your hook ….
Cool vid, I just got a cheapo from kmart myself for $20 the general purpose one I think 8 foot, but probably should’ve got the kids one for $13 instead! Haven’t used mine yet but will soon 😂
Someone gifted my grandson this Rod. He's an absolute beginner. I cannot find anything that helps to set this Rod up from the beginning like setting up the reel like winding on once it's been cast. Nothing that says what the various knobs and buttons are for. Help please!!
@@dang.fishingwould it hold a mangrove jack? ATM I’ve got 15lb line on me rod…. And are the lures any good? Would they catch jacks? My lightest leader is 15lb and 15lb braid would that hold a jack little? And what size plastics? 2.5? Or 3? Also I subbed! I really enjoyed this video!
@@TobysfishingNoutdoors thanks mate I appreciate the sub! I generally don’t go less that 20lb braid or leader for jacks.. but I have caught them on as little as 6lb line! The lures I used in this video are okay. Have a look at some of my other Mangrove Jack videos for an idea of the lures I use :) any size is good - the main goal is to match the bait source in your given scenario
@@dang.fishing ok mate! I will rig up me heavier rods… although I reckon I’ll try throw some UL plastics to see how they go just for fun….. I’m currently BROKE 😂😂, I’ve only go like 20 bucks in me account 😂😂, so lures are a bit expensive………….
@@TobysfishingNoutdoors plastics are definitely more cost effective! I like them too because I don’t feel as bad when I get smoked by a jack and lose a $3 compared to a $30 hardbody

Another awesome video! Glad to see you got a nice bream too. 🎣 Solid effort considering it’s a $20 setup. 💯 🤩
Nice dude love these style of vids
Great video as usual 👍🏻
Nice.. up at the gateway bridge is always good, and at colmslie

Absolutely mate it took me back to my routes when I started fishing with the cheap gear! Just shows it’ll still work haha

How amazing! I ended up giving it away to a kid to try and get his first fish on lure
@@dang.fishing good onya mate . 🤙
I found that the Jarvis Walker bream lures don't swim well, but I have caught a lot of bass on their bass lures. You need to upgrade the hooks though.

I got alot of these Kmart lures but never use them because I feel like I'm wasting my time by not using my few favourite lures
Great video mate.

Decent mate ! Was just about to do this myself for $30 haha

Go to Josh d fishing, channel
did you use any sent on the lure?
?
No scent!
No scent!
Are you on the crystal ?
Negative 😂
Jarvis Walker isn't a Kmart brand I was surprised because Jarvis Walker was made in 1940 or something like that
that proof you are a good angler
spot?
Bro, Kmart arana hills, that’s where I went today
Was the line any good?
@@TobysfishingNoutdoors pretty decent. Not the best but definitely not the worst

I never knew K mart was thriving in Austraila.
Can I know the location you did this fishing spot
Brisbane river
2 yrs ago how come you still had to wear a mask and QR code into the shop, surely that was finished by then. Cool vid btw mate.
Fishing west end near the rowing club by the looks of it.
That’s the one
@@dang.fishing when I fish there with a hard body lure for bream I take off the belly hook. That lessons the snagging on rocks.
@@mervonmcnab6135 great tip!
Spot cred hahah
Sure did mate haha
I’d been eyeing the spot off for a while but your advice gave the nudge I needed haha
With the price of petrol I bet the fuel didn’t get paid out of your 20y
Why would you get a disease from singing "faith" by george michael?
Sorry mate I lubricated the fishing knot after it had been in the dirty water 😂 nothing to do with the song haha

Respect the vid, but please pick up your tags
Appreciate the comment, I understand in the video it looks like I didn’t pick up the tag, but I can assure you, it came home with me this day
