I'm glad I ran across this review. I'm gonna give it a little bit more time before I get one of these. There are a few things that I don't like about it and maybe Barnett will make some changes on it. I'm like you, I don't like buying brand new designs as soon as they are released. Thanks for the review.
I love Barnett and have been impressed with the reliability of my past bow. I just thought the ccd was a bit janky. I will see how it goes this hunting season.
@@williammingey8138 you could always go with one of their cheaper options. I have a Barnett game crusher as well it was 200$ and still gets the job done.
@@williammingey8138 I don't particularly like the way the cables wrap around the cams like they do. And the ccd (crank cocking device)is kinda difficult to remove from the string after it's cocked. Although I do like the fact that you can shoot standard diameter arrows as well as micro-diameter.
I'm going to take the bracket that holds the sled in place off and snip the ropes for the hand crank and just use the regular rope sled device they sell for it or maybe just a regular rope cocker. Removing the sled bracket will make room to move the scope back and center it in a more natural position. With the built in ccd you can only use the built in ccd. That butt stock is removable and they are going to sell one without the ccd built in. You would have thought they would have released that version first with the option to buy and "upgrade " to the ccd. At this point you can't order the regular butt stock. Otherwise this is a nice setup, hope everything holds up when I get to shooting it.
I just picked up a Hyper Raptor brand new. I literally cranked the sled one time and the sled broke in half. Agreed with the sled release issue and but stock
Ive watched all of your videos on the raptor Nd have to say its the only review up currently. But i am still going to get this one just the rope cocker one as i talked to my sporting goods shop and they have had several issues with the crank ones and have actually sent all of those ones back and only kept the rope cocker ones.
Thanks for watching them! I'm hoping to work on some other models soon! I love mine now I have the rope one. The ccd design needs some work but man this bow rips!!
It is easy to work with, he's doing with one hand what needs to be done with two. He should have waited to do the video after he got accustomed to operating the bow. It made something look difficult that really isn't.
That string setup would annoy me a tad bit. Overall the product looks great, however Barnett should adapt that cocking strap like Ravin does. So easy to work with.
Love the triggers the put in these my $199 Barnett jackal was better than my $599 bear crossbow, I’m getting a raptor it is a jackal on steroids, I think game crusher and jackal is same crossbow just different name
Have you noticed any string, serving or cable fraying near the cams? On the CrossBow Forums there are a few people who are experiencing this issue with this new crossbow. I am hoping if its a problem that Barnett will fix it in production or that its just a few bad early produced bows.
@fernfieldfarmsHomestead oh ok gotcha. Please keep us posted because I was really excited about this new crossbow and was planning on purchasing it soon but not if there are known issues.
@mattkiser9965 my sporting goods store has said they have seen issues like what he had with the crank ones and they sent them back. They still have the rope ones and siad they have not heard anything bad on those. Im going to get one soon myself
You just have to get used to it. The sled is like that on most manufacturers. I was possibly thinking about getting this one for myself. Good luck with it. It does look like a beautiful crossbow. One thing I don't like about Barnett CCD, is they should make it so that you can remove from the CCD place and attach it somewhere on the crossbow like Ten point and Raven. It just seems that Barnett does not go the extra mile in making their crossbows a little more polished. But I am a Barnett fan. I own twenty-two Barnett crossbows, however they are mostly older models.
Wow that's a lot! Not jealous at all!!! Haha man that's awesome. Yeah I feel like for the price I can't complain. Everyone says get a Ravin.... uhhh yeah not on the budget!
@@fernfieldfarmsHomestead Agreed, I was eyeing the Ravin R26 for years -- but as an avid gun guy, there's not a snowball's chance in hell that I would ever justify dropping $2k+ on a crossbow. That's money which would be better spent on an HK SP5 lol Anyways, seeing that the Barnett Hyper Raptor CCD has nearly the exact same specs as the R26, I had to have it. Ordered it the very day it released. Have yet to shoot mine, but will do so this weekend. Hopefully no issues...
@donaldpiatt4623 what makes the Wrath 430 better? I heard the trigger is awful, it's heavier and it doesn't shoot anywhere close to 430 fps, more like 410 fps.
Unless you carry this weapon around cocked and fully loaded, ready to take a shoot. Any animal would be long gone before even setting it up... good luck getting a second shot off. Setup of this isn't even close to other branded units, its certainly put me right off it cause I'd never even consider buying one of these now. A mate tried to convince me to go up to this unit. But now I know why he's came home empty handed ever since he purchased it. This unit certainly wont feed my family and other reviews state the same - what a total waste of money.
My crossbow is cocked in my tree stand you just don't put bolt in it until your settled in your stand when you want to climb down take bolt out tie rope to foot strap and slowly and carefully lower it been doing it for yrs
Great video, thanks! Mine just came in and the red ball wasn’t installed. Do you remember if yours came that way and you had to install it?
Yeah mine was definitely installed! Hopefully it just pops in for you. I love that thing!!

Hate to hear that get a rcd and you won't regret it. It's like a whole new bow! I love the rcd
I still love my game crusher. That thing is heavy but gets the job done

Mine is in for thr 2nd set of cables after 100 shots.. not going in hunting season with this one next year 😅
@@tb456852 that is horrible to hear!! What a rough season!! Hope you get it straightened out
Deer season will be over before you have a chance to reload it.
Definitely getting the sled rope cocker
😂😂
he gotta get it out the box first lol
it it cocks significantly faster when not holding a camera
Can you use the rope if you got ccd?
I think so the rope ball should still be there
It’s a nice looking crossbow.
Well as we all know... looks can be deceiving
Keep check on the cables. They are chewing cables after 30 shots
didn't even get to 30 ....crazy
@@fernfieldfarmsHomestead already snaped the cord?
Hola ocupo una pala para una Barnett hypertac pro 430 sabes dónde podré comprarlo los fabricantes no me contestan los correos
I will stick too the xp 350 Barnett to much stuff on this one for me
Absolutely understand that! There is something to be said for the reliability of under 400fps. Not only that but price is way better
Man you are lucky you have land to shoot and hunt on. I live downriver and we don’t have many places to hunt within an hour drive……
I am very blessed! That has to be hard to want to hunt when its that far away.
Do u mind if I share your hyper raptor videos on my hyper raptor crossbow group on Facebook????
Absolutely not! Still working with Barnett to get more reviews out for you guys. With all the shows at the start of the year it's been a long wait!
Get yourself a thermocell $20 best thing I've bout for early season hunts and target practice in warmer weather. Bye bye skeeters!!!

They should cover in another box so the liberals can't see it and intentionally rough it up during shipping
The centerpoint wrath 430 is better and 200 dollars cheaper and has cocking device
Where did you find the wrath for that?? I haven't seen it for less than 600$? That sounds like a steal of you got it for 3or 4 something.
