I was very excited about this pen until I saw that it had a Jowo nib. I really like the Asvine nib. Have you tried to swap the Jowo for an Asvine nib? If that is a possibility, then I'd mabe want a J16.
Just for your knowledge, Doodlebud's height is 1.98 m. I don't know why people would complain about the price, Titanium is still a valuable metal for it's properties, though this is probably alloy and not pure titanium. In fact it used to be really scarce and very expensive some years ago. Remember all those people that have titanium implants? If this pen was made by Montblanc, Pelikan or some high end brand, it would cost over a thousand bucks just because of the brand 🤷
Thank you for this review! I got this pen, also in the brushed titanium finish, from the US Amazon for $60 with a fine Jowo nib. I agree with everything you say. This is a great pen that makes extended writing sessions an effortless joy. I had intended to switch the Jowo F nib unit for a Fountain Pen Revolution Jowo-compatible nib unit with their #6 extra fine-ultra flex nib, a favorite of mine. But the #6 Jowo F on the J16 is so gloriously silky smooth (with my favorite non-waterproof ink, the wonderfully smooth Sailor Black) that I am holding off on the switch. I did not have to do any tuning. As you found, the piston filling mechanism is also silky smooth. To me, this pen is a bargain at its price.
@ :yes, I was a bit uncertain when I ordered it, as I am not usually partial to metal pens. But with titanium’s lightness and no slipperiness from the brushed finish, it won me over quickly. As a great, comfortable writer, it’s becoming a favorite.
Nice opening summary, Very quite year for pen companies from China. Asvine is owned by 360Stationary, oem in the same plant of other “design house”, e.g. Majohn. Asvine international release usually is one month early than China domestic release, due to it fits better western appetite and price tag.
Another nice review Vincenzo. The pen reminds me of the Asvine Titanium P36 I have in my collection. It looks more torpedo like than the more rounded P36. The other difference - it doesn't have the clear barrel & come come with a Jowo nib.
I was surprised , how the size was perfect for my hands.. Amazon has alot of ASVINE Options for sale.. I picked up the : $60 Cad ...P36 ASVINE Titanium Fountain Pen *Piston Filling* Extra Fine Nib Clear Transparent Acrylic Smooth ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ $35 Cad...Asvine V126 Vacuum Filling Fountain Pen Gold Plated Fine Point, Transparent
Hi Vincenzo! Thanks for the thorough review of the J16. I too had seen DB's review of this pen and didn't know what the actual size of the pen was. For what it is, the price is not TOO bad.
I love Asvine, but I'd really love to see more understated options from them and Hongdian, like black or other opaque solid colors. If there were V126s or N12s avaliable in solid black, burgundy, or tortoise i would immediately buy a dozen of each. And instead of adding more colorful acrylics to their Momento Zero homage line, maybe Asvine could follow Leonardo's lead and do a P20 in matte black or the Magico DNA color scheme, as well. The Hongdian A7 is fantastic, btw.
Thank you for the review, Vincenzo. I love titanium pens and rhis may end up being one to get forcmy collection. I would have liked a larger ink window but that is a minor concern. I am glad to see Asvine switching to Jowo. Bock nibs to me are the most troubling. Every Bock nib I have requires adjustment and smoothing. This did but it was a simple adjustment / smoothing. As for price, i am sorry to see the increase but is this pen worth the price? I believe it is. It is srill less money that my other titanium pens.
Hi, Vincenzo, great video as usual and I purchased the lemon M6 on your recommendation. It is a really good writer. However I think I would prefer a thinner line. Can you get Lemon nibs separately or any other nibs that can replace the medium. I would be grateful for your advice.
I ordered the pen before I even finished watching Doodlebud’s review. I received it a couple of days ago and took a quick look at it. It will be a while before I ink it up (too many in the queue ahead of it), but I can already tell I’m going to enjoy using it.
Yes, it's caught me as well, but I'll wait 2-3 months until the usual price hype with a newly launched FP settles. I completely ignored the v200, maybe the new matte black might attract me after the price dust settles. The J16 and its brushed finish comes with the dimensions I prefer and I also hope that later this model will be available with Asvine nibs. Nothing wrong with Jowo, not at all but the extra Dollars aren't necessary if the well made Asvine nibs are available. Good review.
Hi Vincenzo, I love this pen, I don't mind having the Jowo nib, that's brilliant and I don't mind paying the extra because I have lots of Jowo nibs floating around the house. I also want to think the J stands for "Just buy this Pen", haha. It's great, titanium, piston, it posts, it writes, for around 100 dollars that's brilliant. Asvine are really pushing the idea of what a great pen is at a reasonable price. Also, thank you for again buying another pen for us to see. I love buying pens but I don't have the disposable income because my job is low paying, however, I do put some aside for pens, and I have some great pens and I am very unfortunate to have these. I am however, trying in my dyslexic brain trying to complete my masters degree in secondary teaching so I can take my undergrad and teach English. I am pushing the impossible, to teach English with ADHD/ASD/dyslexia and this is what I think we need authentic teachers. Then I will be able to extend my collection. So, thanks for making these videos and sharing your knowledge and hobby with us out in UA-cam land. Chelsea c:
Great review Vincenzo Grazie ! Asvine starts to annoy me because this is the 2nd pen that French people was not been able to buy (and I guess many other countries) because Asvine has decided to sell pens to the US market. It is the case for the V200 Matte black that we still can't buy (not in amaxxxx france, not in alixxxxx. Edit: Correction: it just appears also recently in amaxxxx France !), and now the J16, but happily the J16 just appears one or 2d ago in amaxxxx france (in between I've sent them a mail to tell us that I was not happy that they don't consider the european market properly !). Hope Asvine will take better care of other WW markets. Whatever, thank you for your review !
New pen raven piston filled majohn moonman coming next week fine for my pastor wife, him a cross chrome set I'd had his name put on it ,there going back to az on Monday.
Nice pen and review. i got a smooth finish after the DB review but was a bit disappointed with the "Jowo" Broad which was a bit skippy unlike other Jowo Broads i have. It makes me suspect: poor QC or nib tuning, are there different grades of Jowo or is the nib also a homage which would be a milestone manufacturing accomplishment. Regardless the J16 will prove a good Jowo nib holder for replacements of known quality.
It is possible that the nib needs a bit of tuning but I’ve learned to live with that and a few minutes and the tuning is done any good nib that lasts is in your reach
Hmm, tempting on first blush (+ I've really come to like Asvine) but I'm hard pressed to see a whole lot of difference between this and the P36. It's a little bit bigger but not a lot, moderately heavier, has a solid barrel vs P36's clear and a Jowo nib rather than the Asvine standard on the P36. If I didn't already have a V200 and P36 (+ a Lemon M1) I'd snap it up but I do have those, so I dunno....
Your volume levels are clipping on your videos. Or u have a bad mic. Love your vids, but hard to listen to when there’s so much distortion. No disrespect.
I think no.6 nib is a medium nib even if they name it no.6 broad it still no.6 unless they declare it as a broad nib with no preceeded number it is a broad one and I think any number above 0.7 is a broad nib.

You do a great job Vincenzo thanks.
I appreciate you watching!

Thank you for that information. I appreciate your insight.
I actually just bought this pen. Supposed to be in tomorrow. Thanks for the review
You are in for a treat!
Thanks for keeping track of the Chinese market. You are the best.
You’re most welcome

I’m glad you found it interesting, and I can understand how the J16 compares to your P36.
I’ve found the J16 on Amazon Prime for $55-60 in the US. Looking forward to putting custom grinds in the pen.
Just bought this last week. Should arrive soon. Even more excited now. Thanks!
You are in for a treat!

Thanks for sharing your experience! I'm always interested to hear what pens others are enjoying.
Greetings from Australia.
Great video, I enjoyed it.
G'day mate! I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Nice pen. I like Jowo nibs but the Asvine nibs are not too bad either. All in all it looks like a very attractive Jowo nib holder.
Thank you Vincenzo for the size comparison. I didn't realize how big the pen is. You did me a service.
You’re welcome! It’s a big pen!
Hi Vincenzo! Thanks for the thorough review of the J16. I too had seen DB's review of this pen and didn't know what the actual size of the pen was. For what it is, the price is not TOO bad.

It's weird that it's more expensive for you, I bought this for $55 on Amazon. Really nice solid pen!
Prices do fluctuate!

I've been able to swap standard 35mm #6 nibs into mine.

That is so awesome!

Thanks for your thoughts, the matte black version is very cool!
Well, Jowo nibs are everywhere. I prefer Asvine original nibs in Asvine pens.
Pens are just becoming Jowo sticks
😂😂😂😂😂😂@@stargazer1359
Nice pen! It looks a bit like a P50, which in turn looks like an Aurora 88.
I want to try this pen.

🤨 You should research more, a #6 nib refers to the width of the feeder in mm, not the size of it's tip.
@@manuelsalazar3938 Did you see the word tip in my comment?
