I saw Bob marley and the wailers played at the Palace Park june7th in London 1980.I when with my brother phill and his mate Ian very good gig and a great day out. The lineup was bob marley and the wailers. The average white band. Joe Jackson band. And the q tips with Paul Young. Me and my brother and Ian were on the left side of the stage where a poud is in front of the stage. I remember concorde came over Palace Park when bob marley and the wailers were on stage. Nice one one love

Wonderful place. I rode there from Stanmore (North West of London) on my little Honda 50 on 2 September 1972 to one of the Garden Parties. I was treated to a glorious day with some super bands, culminating with Yes premiering Close to the Edge along other favourites. A fabulous experience!
I saw Albert Collins & John Lee Hooker at the old stage around 1990 time. Awesome day and fantastic place for live music. We need more music in parks now that COVID is here to stay - big names and local artists. Full immunity for weed smokers but zero tolerance for litter louts. Good luck with your project. Big love :)
That is nothing like I remember it from the 1970s. Different stage, the pond/lake, and the arena was really a sloping half bowl shape, not flat. Or did I just smoke too much weed back then?
I used to go the concerts at The Crystal Palace Bowl, looks like the leather chair brigade messed that up big time, what an absolute eyesore that structure is no wonder it fell into the state that it is in now. It is just sad to see this as it is now, put back the old bowl it had so much more character than this mess of metal.
The locals call it the rusty laptop 😂😂😂😂 NO WE DONT, EVER. You must be referring to the friends of Crystal Palace and they are not from Crystal Palace or anywhere in Norwood 💚💙💚💙
But am looking forward to seeing if modern technology and adequate funding can make it work. Worried that 21st century insurance will not co-exist with gigs with too inviting lake in front of stage.
The rebuild totally and utterly ruined it, the old bowl had character this thing has nothing it just looks awful, hope the person and the people who desigend and got this thing built are proud of themselves, the old stage had history and should have been listed.

Too much weed... But at least it was worth smoking back then, not like the crap they sell today

My baby Louis will be there
I cannot believe this is not being used. Is there a problem with transport back into London - obv I am talking normal times not Plague times
It is now! A series of concerts lined up for South Facing Festival this August

Nominated for Stirling Prize despite being entirely unfit for pupose with terrible acoustics. That is why it isn't used. The refurbishment ruined it
