Omg!! I am happy I found your videos. I start my sisterlock journey around the same time as you and I’ve been contemplating about starting My UA-cam channel.. .But you have truly motivated me to have the courage to do so. I look forward to seeing you grow!!
I like how sincere you are. Well well, I just cut some of my dangling buds off because they were tangling with other locs...... right before I started this video😰😭 I guess I should not have. Will try and behave now 😰😅
Bloodmoon_ Maiden thank you!! I’m not gonna lie to you, before my loctician told me not to pull the dangling buds off, I was definitely just ripping them off 😂😬 I’m going to behave now too.
Great vid, congrats on your progress. FYI, you can get the Nioxin ointment from Ulta. My Sloctitian doesn’t charge by the hour, she charges a flat rate for the first 2 hours. After that she charges extra, but she says she rarely goes over 2 hours. Regarding the extending retightening schedule, I think most SLoctitians have a backup person that they refer their clients to, when they can’t do their hair.
Danise Phaedra Wow! Thank you. I was told that only licensed cosmetologists could by the Nioxcin, so I would have to order it from my loctician. I’m gonna look for it at Ulta instead :) A flat rate for a 2 hour retightening would be so nice. I’ve been told by a couple of people now that I should probably find a backup loctician. I think that’s what I’ll do. Thanks for commenting/watching! 💕
I am soo happy i found your channel i am 2 months in and i feel you on the locs being dry and i have been trying to stay strong so i will just continue to stay strong and trust the process
I retightening my locs every six weeks and on average it takes 3 hours. My consultant recommends someone else when she's not able to meet the 6 weeks retightening schedule.
Kerry- Ann King thank you for this! Someone else commented something similar. So I think I definitely need to ask another consultant to do my hair so I can stick to my schedule.
Crystals Sisterlocks I’ll ask her! That’s a good idea, thanks 😊. If she can’t, I’ll try to get an appointment with another loctician so I can stay on my schedule.
MZ TERRELL 2.0 that’s what I’ve always been told! And I just recently went 12-14 weeks without a retightening due to the shutdowns. I don’t want to turn around and do it again lol. I’m going to try to find a backup loctician.
While it is helpful to get your reties regularly, it isn’t dyer. Honestly I feel like it’s a ploy to make sure they’re getting their money like clock work, but that’s a whole other topic. If you can’t get to your consultant, just separate your locs often to prevent them from marrying and band them when you wash. This will train your hair to grow into the loc. I have micro locs and maintain my own hair, but I do feel empathy for the plight of my sisterloc sisters.
Hi I’m 12 and I’m getting sister locks soon.. I have a few questions..why does the girl that’s doing my hair have to do 1-3 locks before doing the whole thing? Alsooo how do I make my hair make it look like yours? Wavy? And my sister said that when I 1st get it it’s going to be messy, is that true?
Allisa Hi Allisa! So exciting that you’ll be getting Sisterlocks soon! 😊 The girl that’s doing your hair will do a few “tester locks” before doing the whole thing because she needs to see which locking pattern will work best on your hair texture. She’ll try a few different patterns, leave them in for a while, and then see which pattern lasts/works the best! Your Sisterlocks will wave up some on their own because our hair is naturally curly and textured, but to make it even MORE curly- You can wet your Sisterlocks, braid them, sleep in the braids overnight, and take them out in the morning to have curly/wavy locks. What your sister said isn’t true. “Messy” is only messy if you believe that it is. If you think your locs are beautiful when you first get them, then they’ll be beautiful ✨😊

AmbyrEssence You’re welcome. I purchased the Nioxin from Ulta online about 3 wks ago.

Oshunish Views trust the process girl! It just gets better and better 😊

Hmmm I wonder could she do your retie before she leave like at 5 weeks maybe?
Crystals Sisterlocks I’ll ask her! That’s a good idea, thanks 😊. If she can’t, I’ll try to get an appointment with another loctician so I can stay on my schedule.
Do you have to get your locs retightend approximately every 6 weeks for as long as you have the locs?
9-12 weeks is a long time to go without a retie especially when you’re newly established.. that MAY create thinning within the locs
MZ TERRELL 2.0 that’s what I’ve always been told! And I just recently went 12-14 weeks without a retightening due to the shutdowns. I don’t want to turn around and do it again lol. I’m going to try to find a backup loctician.
I always heard that frequent retightening can cause thinning over time so it's like a catch 22. 🤷🏾♀️
Latisha Lewis this is true...
Feel the lock. Does the fat part feel like it has a pattern? My consultant told me that my lock was budding in the middle.

Why don’t you find a backup? Most testimonies of others with Sisterlocks have one.
Right, don’t take the bobbles off.. I’m over a year into my journey and I only have like a handful of those “bobbles” 😭
MZ TERRELL 2.0 😩 is your hair locking slowly? Or were you pulling bobbles off? Why do you think there’s only a handful??
I have several locs that look like that. Fat on the end and thinner at beginning ... not thin but thinner
Thankkk you!!! Its Tai (Like Say but with a T lol)
by the way ur Insanely beautiful...wth
Allisa thank you 😊💖
