Zane does some of THE BEST interviews 🤝You can tell he cares, that’s he’s into design oriented thinking (one big clue: his answer to a question is another question), and he doesn’t do anything he isn’t invested in. It doesn’t matter if it’s Tyler, The Creator, Linkin Park, Tyler Joseph, or Trent Reznor.
this guy is literally a genius.. from songwriting, to performing, to parenting, we are so lucky to have him in our world
and in the same time and generation that were alive too

As someone that has followed twenty one pilots for years now, i know it in my heart that tyler was made for this. Writing songs, creating worlds and characters, talking about the processes he goes through, giving interviews, basically the whole package. Tyler was made for this. And i'm so glad that we get to see him self-actualize.
I agree. You can also see a difference in how Tyler responds with zane lowes interviews compared to others. Because zane loves his music and meanings and is so enthusiastic, Tyler wants to explain with honesty as he doesn’t feel judged but appreciated as a music artist. In this interview Tyler looks so much more confident and honest, he’s not so worried about trying new things and he’s showing all of his talents. So well deserved!
I absolutely agree. I would love if he wrote a book or created a series of books based off of his albums and songs. I just cannot describe in words how his lyrics and the thought behind them resonate with me on such a deep level.

Even if it wasn't a full on book, like short stories about the dema, about clancy's escape attempts and like where him and josh are connected to the story etc. Just the things he imagined while writing his albums. I just met a man in his 30s a few days ago when I visited my grandparents grave, he lost his son and coped with it the same way Tyler described. I talked to him about it, and he told me that he works at the cemetery, he shovels the graves for burials, and he said that it's okay, he can deal with it because he knows death. The way he talked about it really stuck with me and this really reminded me of him.
Working at a cemetery has got to be an emotionally challenging profession I don't think I would even be able to handle that let alone having to bury my own child or family member that's too much to handle. He's a strong man and I hope things get better for him because nobody deserves such a thing.

Tyler is 100% right about those parenting fears. My husband and I were in the same place, (mostly me) getting worried we couldn’t do it or that we’d get something wrong. Then when our son was born, everything came naturally. He’s 2 now and has been listening to and enjoying twenty one pilots with me on car rides 🧡

Love how this interview focused more on parenthood than the new album. 😅You can tell family is a huge part of Tyler's life. So glad he was able to spend the pandemic at home with Rosie and Jenna, instead of touring 10 months of the year. That said, can't wait to see them on tour again! Will have to settle for this Friday's Livestream, for now. So psyched to hear the whole SAI album! 🤟
Play the song order backwards and you get a story of someone afraid to leave Dema (Redecorate), being pursued by the bishops (No Chances), staying with a friend who encourages them to keep going and leave (Bounce Man), someone finding it formidable yet encouraging that they just left (Formidable), a whole group of people therefore making a mass-sideways [East] exodus out of Dema (Mulberry Street), the people standing against the lies of the bishops (Never Take It), finally escaping (Saturday - as in the music video), now being on the outside of Dema (Outside), a friend in Dema saying they hope they don’t see the escapee back in Dema (Shy Away), the escapee choking out and being captured by the bishops (Choker), and the escapee being back in Dema in denial of how awful everything is (Good Day). I reckon Tyler emphasises the flexibility of the timeline because he intended the album also to make sense from a reverse order perspective.

I hate to say it, but it's hard to find interviewers and journalists who seem to truly understand and respect Tyler's creative process. Zane Lowe is the rare exception. He's able to engage Tyler and asks questions that prompt conversation, not just responses. You can tell that Tyler actually enjoys speaking with him.
I have 2 daughters, age 6 and 3 . I make sure to tell them everyday, Everytime there's any thought on the subject how beautiful, brave and strong they are. It's so important. If you don't who will?

5:48 well tyler, as someone who lost his daughter at birth, let me tell you that yes, you succeeded in capturing the feeling.
Every once in a while I'm reminded that this interview exists and it blows my mind and worries me every single time I hear Tyler say he would smoke and drink alcohol in order to cope with mourning a loss like that. Like what happens if it really happens? It just scares me. I know it probably won't happen, but it's just crazy to me that he already fully believes he would do that, like there's no doubt in his mind.
This album has resonated with me on such a deep level. Lyrically, it is so relatable and is an experience itself. I’m a disabled single mother (who found 21Pilots through my son who’s been their biggest fan since he was 4, deciphering the meaning of Tyler’s lyrics) and this album literally saved my life. Tyler’s mind is an absolute gift to this world. Plain and simple.

Play the song order backwards and you get a story of someone afraid to leave Dema (Redecorate), being pursued by the bishops (No Chances), staying with a friend who encourages them to keep going and leave (Bounce Man), someone finding it formidable yet encouraging that they just left (Formidable), a whole group of people therefore making a mass-sideways [East] exodus out of Dema (Mulberry Street), the people standing against the lies of the bishops (Never Take It), finally escaping (Saturday - as in the music video), now being on the outside of Dema (Outside), a friend in Dema saying they hope they don’t see the escapee back in Dema (Shy Away), the escapee choking out and being captured by the bishops (Choker), and the escapee being back in Dema in denial of how awful everything is (Good Day). I reckon he emphasises the flexibility of the timeline because he intended the album also to make sense from a reverse order perspective.
