  • This video shows how to make an effective call for use as the turkey gets close. This type of call is sometimes called a "finisher" or "closer." It is super simple to make and very easy to play. The call makes good purrs, soft yelps, and cuts. It also makes great tree yelps.

I have been turkey hunting a few years. I came across your channel and have watched many of your videos. Your video of how to yelp was the first video i watched and i bought the mouth call. I am just realizing your videos are from years ago. i cannot locate your websites or any new videos of your hunting videos. I enjoy your videos and passion to teach. i hope all is well in your life.

Excellent idea and I guarantee you that will work! When I was about 18 years old, I didn't know how to use a mouth call very good and volume was a very tough thing for me to lower with them. I had been calling to gobbler with a pot call and he had appeared in a field about 70 yards in front of me. I used the striker on the side of my Remington 870 to make some soft (really weak) yelps and he closed another 30 yards, where his morning came to an end. I had learned a year earlier that a shotgun will make somewhat of a yelp just by being bored in the woods. I'll probably make your call just to have another "homemade" call.

Was googling where to buy that size tubing, but after reading your comment I may just use my 870 instead! I just hope the cerakote doesn't affect the sound LOL

The call he made sounds a lot better. The "870 yelps" were a desperation move that worked! My pot call was on my left side, where I couldn't reach it without a lot of movement. I tried it and it worked, you'll just have to try it on your gun! I learned that morning to keep my calls close at all times!

So, how'd this call work out for closing those last few yards? What a great idea! I'm going to make a couple of these with my kids, they'll love it!

The call really works. I managed to finish the deal with one gobbler 2 seasons ago. Awesome feeling to do it with a call I made. I think it is awesome you are making one with your kids - Thanks

Just letting you know I never forgot this video
I like the call for it lower sound for closing the distance on closer birds
I personally have not made the call yet still haven't found a piece of aluminum to work with yet the aluminum is usually too thick or too small that I find
